  • I played this on the C64 with my brother. Glad to see I'm not the only one who kept loading it despite being frustrated by it :D

  • What I remember most about this game are the bionic seagulls that could carry my ATV on their backs if I somehow managed to land on them, then banging my head on the table in frustration as the timer ran out. Fond memories indeed lol.

  • This was one of the games I played most on the speccy. this, Rigel's Revenge, Bombjack, Renegade and too many others to mind.

  • omg u suck!!!

  • brought back some great childhood memories - thanks ;o) I totally remember that main theme

  • Together with the Dizzy series and Advanced Pinball Simulator, the best game from CodeMasters.

  • yknow i wasnt really expecting anything to come up when i type ATV and spectrum into youtube but hell am i a happy chappy that it did lol

Loved this game and love the fact you showed the cassette case art to, took me riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight back.

As a two player game this was the best around for the time, days when you shared a tiny keyboard with your mates and you had to resort to conversation with them while the game shrieked at you while it loaded. Ahhhh memories

  • it is really funny to see words like "simulator" in speccy games in these days :D

  • I was best in this game.

  • so the strategy is to fall every time and then get up again fast?

oh man! that's really not the way to play this game.

after the pyramids was a level called tropicana, with gators. after finishing all the levels the game starts allover but with fewer time. i used to play it split screen with my brother. great times

  • I remember totally loving this as a kid, i think it cost £1.99 when it was first released.

  • could never get past the f-ing pyramid stage

  • That drop in the qualifying made it impossible to complete the pyramids. That and the constant variety of moves required to master it.

  • @SPINNYFUCK Those pyramids pwned you! :D

  • @SPINNYFUCK Pyramids wasn't impossible but you really couldn't afford to go wrong. And if you got your ATV stuck on the top of the sphinx head, that was basically game over!

  • ohhh i had this game and i still play it now once in a while when i pick up my speccy emu because it's pretty great

  • Gotta hate that level 2 though.

  • I loved this game bck in the day. Codemasters made some great games and cos they were cheap you would just by them all!

  • It was great but the only thing about codies games was that they were tough. After paying for them you had to try and get as much enjoyment out of them as you could.

  • I didnt like to play with my brother as hew is older...he used to choose the keyboard...I always had to play with the joystick, what a shit

  • Joysticks were shit back then. You should have made him play with the joystick. I have always been a keyboard man myself!

  • Pure Steel !

  • It sure is mate!

  • No offence but you are shit at this game lol i was shouting advice at the monitor as you were playing ( not that you could hear it! ) and i have'nt played this game since 1990! Great days!

  • Shit!!! A walkthrough beckons!

I could hear your advice, that's why you put me off! Trying playing this while you're teaching the missus pc skills and every Tom, Dick and Harry is phoning you at the same time and you're trying to do your own thing. I need a day off!

  • I really used to like 2 player mode. I want to get my mits on an old speccy with games my one just vanished i dunno where it went lol.

  • Jesus i remember this game it took me ages to work out that you had to land with a wheelie or you would go flying off your quad lol

  • This game is FRUSTRATING!!!

  • Just like most of the Codemasters games. As a kid you'd be more likely to keep playing it even if it was tough.

  • used to love this when i was little - i always thought it was funny to throw the rider off the bike at the finish line - he'd always end up in mid air! maybe codies could remake this classic for the x360?

  • Think I did better back in the 80's. A bit rusty now. Don't think codies will ever go back. Things have advanced too much.

  • Well at least lately Codemasters have been putting out some great racers lately...DiRT, GRiD, and now FUEL (and they seem to have a thing for 4-letter one-syllable names for their racers)!

  • That's all they seem to do nowadays. Production line stuff with no originality. One four-letter word for them...SHiT!

  • @SPINNYFUCK

Are you kidding? I've just had a look at Dirt 2 and the graphics blew me away. Surely you can't think something like ATV is a better game?

  • I wasted many hours on this in the 80s. Genius

  • groovy muzak

  • The sort of thing you'd like to hear in an elevator if it's got a few floors to get through.

  • Makes you wonder who's been rating this!!! Very strange indeed.

Reasonable game if you stick at it. Just a case of knowing what key to press at each obstacle.

  • Oh you got an honour for this video! #31 Top Rated video for Gadgets and Games today. Mind you the day is but young still. And with 5 ratings in total, it suggests people don't tend to vote that often for videos in this category but still well done. The Darling Brothers would be proud.

Not a bad game either. I think there's another couple of games like this on the Speccy, though I could be mistaken.
