Here's a new video of me. No lipstick this time. Youtube "OWS Protestor Tells it To Mayor Bloomberg" under the user name 'crasstalk'. Just thought I'd share. xo
He's out there, I assume wearing flip-flops, pounding the concrete, clutching his child, larger than life. The tableau is near perfection. I've seen him in real life at OWS a couple of times now and just looking at him says it all - he's an Everyman, and an Everywoman, displaying the proud but debased state of our country and so many of it's people. And his beard fucking rocks! He's got a message, and humor. I think he should have his own show, I'd be watching it right now.
OK, this guy is kinda brilliant. He's wearing a Muumuu, big sunglasses, and a scarf around his head like any familiar baboushka or middle American, middle-aged, broke-ass woman. Shit, he's even carrying a Walmart bag. This guy is America!
You should be doing more in depth work rather than getting 30 second clips to suit your own perception. I remember you - in and out - no real interest. Somewhere there is a 20 minute interview with me and a high school teacher about the benefits of reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act that he plans on showing to his class. What a powerful way to teach - legit information regarding the movement from a kooky, fun, gay character showing that, yes, diversity within the movement is powerful.
Oh! And i just noticed you didn't show my entire outfit! My bright blue Wal-Mart hand bag is a really important detail. You really missed out on the joke. As long as you dont miss out on the message that the 99% includes everyone and that everyone is worthy of love, acceptance, and American opportunities to follow their dreams, then its ok you didnt "get" the performance. Thank you for the opportunity for people to have this conversation and putting this on youtube!
egarding the remark about how I make the protest anti-semitic. How so? Some people get the joke in my character, but its basically just a humorous, gay spin on the jobs crisis. Those who dont get the joke, dont get the joke. Oh well! Let me know when you plan to come protest me! I've had such a positive response to my character at the park. Lets talk about reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act and repealing the SCOTUS decision to make corporations people!
That's me! I'm a standup comedian and performance artist. My character is a busted drag queen who cannot afford to take care of his daughter, who needs medical attention, or even buy shaving equipment. I wish you had talked to me longer! I have all sorts of information on how the economic crisis affects the LGBT community - like its still legal in 29 states for someone to get fired for being gay. 53% of the LGBT work force is not out at work. FYI - "cross-dresser" sounds derogatory.
Stupid hippies. They dont know scoot about anything let alone the economy and think that protesting and causing disruptions will solve their problems. As if, protests will automatically devalue the dollar and appreciate the Renminbi and make American exports competitive. Why are people paying attention to such clowns?
@carolalidia If you want to see someone who works for the CIA trying to distract everyone check out my other vid.
watch?v=s83nxsiwFrQ
This guy is the reason why channels like Fox are saying this protest is Anti-Semitic, yet they don't show the people protesting him like I have. I'm trying to call attention to that video.
I have more good interviews coming if you subscribe!
@LogicCheetah Oh I see what you mean about anti-semitism now, its about this guy, not me. I actually have met Danny aka "Lotion Man" and he is a homeless, gay man who needs mental health services. We need to figure out how to help people like him rather than to continue to discount his needs. Is he rude and abrasive? Yes. But, he still needs respect and dignity and help.
@LogicCheetah Regarding Danny Cline, aka 'LotionMan', he was taken to a psych hospital late last night. Its important to take care of our less fortunate and provide services for them rather than to vilify them and to make up nonsense like they are working for the CIA. Here is a link to see what happened to him. I'll message you the link to the story with details of how his behavior finally made it so the occupiers and police worked get him the help he needs. xo
So large cities have weirdos walking arround them what your point? The last time I was in NY I saw a guy walking down the street wearing boots an old army jacket and a pink tutu but I didn't have the urge to go talk to him.
apparently none of you bigots have heard of transgender peoples. take a f***ing psychology class. that might be really who that person is and your pigeon holing him because you don't understand. this persons opinion is just as important as anyone at the occupy wall street protests. everyone's voice needs to be heard! its about the people being united, not separated by our petty differences.
@STDxDyselxicLube thats not nice, even if thats true you should respect him for raising above it and not using it as an excuse to make society a worse place, he's not hurting anyone
For folks who couldn't make out what this guy was saying: "My name is Victoria, and this is my daughter, Abigail, and I'm here to day to draw attention to the 'jobless crisis' in this country. I think everyone deserves a job, and I think it's important for us to keep working towards that goal, using this passionate group that we have here and all across the country, and to harness that passion into action, by continuing a conversation amongst all walks of life."
Is everyone seriously that shallow to simply dislike this video because the way he was dressed? What if that's really who he is, his opinions don't count because he doesn't dress the way you want him to?
Apparently none of you have ever been to a big city or even a protest for that matter. I've seen crazier looking people than this guy.
@LogicCheetah I have to agree, just shy of 2,000 views is hardly hogging "media attention:,besides, does the mainstream american media even respect this protest? Have you seen fox news, or cnn? they are al saying the same things
@halomyperidol sadly, a large amount of americans and a gigantic conglomerate called "NewsCorp" and their billion dollar empire will keep lying to everyone and calling Fox "news"
Personally I think he does more harm than good by turning up and looking slightly unhinged. One of the most effective media weapons against the protests so far has been the ability to point to a guy holding a plastic doll and calling it a daughter and saying "Why should we listen to crazy people?" It removes legitimacy. It makes the already highly unfocused and fragmented movement look like a rabble of slightly crazy people yelling that they want more money.
@LogicCheetah I'm a comedian and street performer. This character is an out of work drag queen who cannot afford to maintain his beard or give medical care to his daughter. I'm the one who is flattered for you thinking this was a real person. And even if it was, the point Victoria makes is that everyone needs to respect diversity and come together to make the world a better place. You only buy into the cycle of hate by portraying this video the way you do.
@LogicCheetah It's not because he was cross dresser that is making a mockery of the protests. It's the way that he goes about garnering attention for himself; it sends out the wrong message to the public, and the media jump all over clips like this. No matter what he's saying, they know that when people watch the news they'll get the impression that all the protesters are as "radical" as this guy is, and no one will sympathize with them
@LogicCheetah yeah, their political opinions aside "manbearpig lady" "he-she" "it" are not words you use for people... wait, you're also the person who upped that description? Is this your bizarro version?
@LogicCheetah Inversely, people like you should get out of the big cities every once in a while. I lived in Southern California for 5 years, so I get that you're going to find people from all walks of life. I grew up in the midwest, however, and I acknowledge that there is a HUGE portion of the country that isn't going to sympathize with the cause when they see stuff like this. Let's be realistic here.
@taterboob Lol I'm a military kid, I've lived ALL over. I've lived in NYC for less than 2 years and I'm doing all these interviews because I move in 1 month back to the Bay Area, California because my Dad is retiring from the Army.
So I've experienced many places in America and the World. That is why i'm accepting of different people.
(Plus after living outside of SF and Berkeley, this guy looks completely normal)
@LogicCheetah I admit I may have sounded a little harsh there. I'm really just trying to play devil's advocate. Don't get me wrong, I support what they're doing here. Heck, I agree with what the guy's saying, but you've got to admit that this could be potentially off-putting to some people. Pictures circulating on the internet of people walking around naked and crapping on cop cars ain't exactly winning over potential supporters of the cause. It's kinda messed up, but that's the way it is.
@taterboob If crapping on a cop car is the same thing as a man in a dress talking real sense, then there is an element of homophobia that is embedded in your comment. This character is to draw attention to the diversity of the movement and the hypocrisy within it when we dont include everyones voice. If its off-putting to some people, then we need to examine their perceptions of the gay community. xo
@jukujaxx Ok, bad choice of wording on my part. Call me a homophobe all you want, but I never once said how I personally feel about the guy. I'm just taking a step back, looking at the sitation, and acknowledging that some people aren't going to care much for this. Look at the like vs. dislike ratio on the video and tell me I'm wrong. I'm not saying it's right. The guy's got a right to dress and act however he wants. That said, don't act shocked when not everybody's on board with this.
@taterboob please hear me that i am not calling you homophobic, but the comment could be perceived as such. im sure if i cycled this video amongst my ranks, the likes vs dislikes would be much more even. you have to consider the source and the phrasing of the context in which the character is being presented. i think it says more about the person presenting it than the character being seen.
@LogicCheetah thats because i AM completely "normal". What is "normal"? I reeeeeally wish you would have talked longer than 32 seconds with me. I've spoken with high school classes at OWS, teachers, haters, religious folks - what happens is they see that EVERYONE is affected by this new American crisis. I've been offered hugs and words of 'thanks' for being there. Try not to vilify anyone. Everyone has a voice in this movement. xo
So many dislikes because this person is turning a serious need to create change into a joke. If you can't take yourself seriously than no one else will. He isn't coming clear and correct. Isn't that the issue we are having with the fat cats we're fighting?
This guy does look like a jackass, and I think his presence probably hurts the OWS movement, but if you listen to the content of his words, he's actually fairly well-spoken; much more so than your average tea partier. Just look away and pretend it's a radio interview...
