Blood from the soul. They have an album out called 'to spite the gland that breeds'. Very similar to this. It's hard to come by, but there are a few tracks on youtube.
@EliasDoesWork Listen to the soundtrack for 'Hideaway'. The movie blows but the soundtrack rocked. That's what really got me into Industrial music. Fear Factory, Frontline Assembly (Delirium), Sister Machine Gun, KMFDM, etc.
I've seen the movie 'Hideaway' and I always wondered what song it was that Godflesh was performing in it. Now I know. It's the first time I heard this song and I like it immediately, more than the title track of the EP it came from. Hooray for Godflesh, a band that expanded my musical horizons back in the '90s.
Everyone here, if you haven't already, see the 2 remixes of this song done by Godflesh themselves. Came on out on their small album Cold World, the first song with the same name as the album title, the 2nd song is Nihil and 3. Nihil (Total Belief Mix) and 4. Nihil (No Belief Mix)... these last two tracks is where the electronic use is jacked-up. Honestly while listening I thought I was running from flesh eating aliens, on a space ship set on self destruct mode.
@nilzardo You aluminum fans are all the same. Why doesn't anyone ever get any appreciation for zinc? You do know zinc pretty much pioneered the entire underground metal scene right? So typical.
@lovenub I saw skinny puppy but Godflesh was having visa issues and got replaced by a band called thought industry. That was my one chance to see them and i missed it :(
i agree, no contest. Godflesh would have destroyed Skinny puppy. Stage show and all.
This song rocks! All the way. If I had to be stuck on a desert island, and could only have 10 songs, this would be one of them. Then I could listen to it while I killed and cannibalized the other people who I was trapped on the island with.
But seriously folks, I think that this is the best Godflesh song.
@aasirah It would be nice, yes. But then all we would have is things building off from this type of style, and we wouldn't really be getting anything new or original, and eventually we would tire of it. Kinda like eating pizza for a long time, u get tired and sick of it, and u want something new. Im not putting any of this music down at all. i love all types of metals, especially these. I'm just stating my opinion.
lol I remember a time ago i was watching this movie called "Hideaway"....I was such a Godflesh fan at the time, and all of a sudden, Godflesh were in that movie, playing this song. I was freaking, I loved it!
There are probably only 5 people in the world that watched that terrible movie but there it is. The soundtrack was sooooooooooo much better than that movie.
This isnt on Selfless. its on the Cold World EP. i think they print a CD with Cold World and the Slateman EP on it. Selfless is an amazing album though.
hmmm,.. are you good with synthesizers? it sounds like its just a synth sound and then he uses an automated equalizer over it so the sound changes over time in loops....
This song doesnt require ditinguishable lyrics. Feelings are lost in translation with words, listen to the music and like or dislike what your hearing and leave it at that. ..........story, cmon man!
@dasweschen The song is about Justin's nihilistic beliefs, and how he believed this world is fucked. Look up his interview for the eye. He talks all about his music life on it.
I love all J.K. Broadricks stuff, weather its Godflesh leaking out of my friends headphones during art class or seeing Jesu play live. Their music is experimental, versatile, beautiful, and heavy all at the same time. -Akajoby
@thatguyyoudontfeel so you're saying there is absolutley nothing dark about godflesh what-so-ever, fair play, but my perception of the sound that godflesh produce is extremely dark, have you not heard christbait rising, or are you also just as confused as myself and others. it's art and everybody perceives it differently, life would be a bit bland if we all thought exactly alike.
What really caught me on Godflesh is that they're the only band with music wich is repetative and versatile at the same time. Somehow every song from them have a deep message. They're like food for the scorned and martered souls.
They also appear in the club scene where Alicia's character meets Vasago for the first time. They are performing Nihil in the club. I wonder if Alica Silverstone became a fan after that movie?

This song doesn't try that hard and it's unique in sound...dark, serious, balanced, energizing, soothing, mechanical, apocalyptic and almost heroic
