thank god for the rs540 motors, if the sport wasnt as desireable as it is today, we would be using the wimpy 380 motors with a top speed of 8mph! i dont remember much of the early rc cars but i think they are 10 times better as far as reliability goes. yaa, theyre slower and heavier, but thats where it all started. :)
I had a Marui Big Bear that used to own the Blackfoot.. When I got my Big bear I set the blackfoot on fire and druk it around the yard with the Big Bear.
lmao. I'll take the new stuff all day long. I have a Slash 2wd that I bought when they first came out. I've since converted it to brushless, and so far, I've only ever broken one drive shaft and stripped a spur gear -- and the truck almost 5 years old!!! Wheelies on command, 20+ minute run times, and waterproof!!!! Welcome to the future.
@416honda Yeah the new stuff has gotte pretty good. The radios without crystals thing still blows my mind frequency hopping spread spectrum is awesome !
Man i love this car, my dad and i just got out his original blackfoot and have been driving it around. Its in pretty good condition the body is in great shape, we upgraded the engine, the suspension is perfect and its runs like a beauty. We are thinking about selling it. If anyone is interested just send me a message giving me a price and ill talk to my dad.
This model was my first RC build. I had a couple of friends who saw mine and wanted their own so one bought a Midnight Pumpkin and the other a Lunchbox. Used to spend hours racing each other. Great build, lot's of fun.
Gosh this brings back memories. I built and used to own a Tamiya Hornet and Monster Beetle back in the Halcyon days of the late 80s/early 90s :) I remember lusting after a Blackfoot lol
Rear was trash, always stripping gears and those "dogboner' axles. Front suspension was useless too. I guess that was the charm of radio controlled cars back then. Anyone remember the Lunchboxes shitty steering? They all had qwirks. How about the Blackfoots hard plastic tires spinning on the wheel. lol I had spinner wheels by accident.lol

they are re-releasing this but becuz the the world is so politically correct these days the name has been changed from the Blackfoot to African American Bipedal Platform.
Just picked up an original Blackfoot with Futaba Magnum Junior controller for 10 bucks at a swap meet in excellent shape. Looks like it's never been off road. Really didn't know what i was buying... but now I'm sure glad I picked it up. The seller said he hasn't ran it in the past 15 years, so I hope I can get it going without much trouble.
These things r awsom josh lambo is a dick hes my next door neigber hes a retard he thourght higher turn mothe was faster he sed his stock 27 would beat my 9 lol
i know someone who gave me a tamiya fox for 7 dollars! i also got a QD avante and blackfoot for 50c each. i also have a real avante and might get a 50 dollar wild willy as well
Wish I knew what happend to my early 90's blackfoot and charger just got misplaced now into the Traxxas Slash and Stampede electric brushed ones and the stampede is a damn good jumper and U can beat the shit out of it unlike the blackfoot but I still miss mine.
i use to have a blackfoot back in the late 80's awsome truck i saw one for sale at this hobbie shop but it was te blackfoot plus or something is not the original one.
looks cool :) i reall want a juggernaut 2 or a clod buster tho :( such a shame they hav stopped producing the juggernout im 14 and really badly want one rofl
dude i wish i had mine still but i saw one for sale the other day but i really wanna get the lunchbox i think is the same motor and chassi if i'm not wrong take care your blackfoot your still runs good?
you can see how crappy the front suspension is by the way the tires change direction when it compresses. I moved the steering links on mine and it works much better
I got mine in '87....spent God knows how much money getting the damn gears to stop stripping and the infamous dogbone halfshafts replaced with the Thorps. I think I spent more time taking the thing apart and fixing it then running it. The funny thing is by the time I worked out all the weak spots in it, I lost interest in RC cars and took up bass guitar. I still have it, last ran it three years ago. I'm paranoid if I break something I won't have the time or patience to fix it like I used to
wow apparently ur a youtube 30 seconds watch hater i bet u only saw like not even one minute by the middle it shows the whole car and it has double wishbone suspension reatard so watch thi vid before hating
I remember there was a design fault with the gear boxes for these trucks and the Monster Beetle as they shared the same chassis, have a Super Blackfoot which I haven't long restored.
hey can you try to get the super blackfoot version cause im trying to restor one, and cant find how some things go. any try would be helpfull, thanks.
hey i remember this! bf was my 2nd r/c ever! they make it look so good in this video lol! I remember the back didnt have dog-bones and wore out in 2 hours, other than that it was awesome!
Two hours huh? Not even with an 11 turn motor would it wear in two hours; although, they did wear out, thank God for Thorp making a replacement set for the rear driveline!

Let's see....
Stripped out dogbones -- check!
Broken speed control resister for one speed in each direction -- check!
Shitty friction shocks -- check!
Plastic bushings throughout entire truck -- check!
Chassis made of impossible-to-glue "special resin" -- check!
1200 mah nicad battery -- check!
Okay, I'm ready to go out and have a mediocre time for about 4 1/2 minutes before my next complete overhaul.
