ya i'm serious, do all mma fighters wear mouth pieces? i seen their face change from fight to fight, as if sometimes they don't wear it. i know some help from getting KO'd (in addition to keeping your teeth) but at the same time they restrict breathing/comfort.

i watched mma for a long time but it's not something i ever thought about. is there a rule that requires it?

todays mma you need mouth pieces, sometimes they got punched out in the fight

Mouth guards are required, they help prevent dental damage. Some say that they help reduce concussions but I don't know if that's true.

Yes, fighters are obliged to wear a mouthpiece. Referees always check before the fight starts if a fighter is wearing his cup and his mouthpiece. It's purely meant to protect your teeth, it won't do much to reduce the change of getting KO'd since they only protect your upper teeth.

As mentioned, they sometimes get punched out during the fight, but even then the referee usually halts the fight and requests the fighter to put it back in.

A fighter's face changing might be illusionary or because he's wearing a bigger mouthpiece at that time than previously.
