  • Here's a Catholic brother and friend who loves the old Lutheran hymns. Cheers to you for this lovely performance. A joyous New Year 2012 !

  • i think our organ looked exact same

  • now i found the hymjn sang to me by the choir of great uncles and aunts every sunday after church without music it made no difference

  • wunderschon!

  • It is long while since I last heard this tune until fairly recently. I have an a cappella clip of me singing the simplified wersion known to me as Bremen

2. Was helfen uns die schweren Sorgen? Was hilft uns unser Weh und Ach? Was hilft es daß wir alle Morgen Beseuftzen unser Ungemach? Wir machen unser Kreutz und Leid Nur größer durch die Traurigkeit
  • I leave all things to God's direction,

He loveth me in weal and woe,

His will is good, true his affection,

With tender love, his heart doth glow.

My Fortress and my Rock is He!

What pleaseth God, that pleaseth me.

    Beautiful, thank-you for sharing!

  • @MattDiClemente Thanks. God bless you.

  • This is one of the best of the old Lutheran hymns used by Bach and Buxtehude and their contemporaries, with an uncommon felicity of both words and tune. I note that that this version uses different lengths of notes than they used, but that isn't unusual. Thanks for posting.

  • @dis0guise Thanks for your kind comment. God bless you.

  • excellent ........... great old Lutheran Hymn

  • @rmemtman Yes, I like this song so much. God bless you.

  • hey what is the brand of the harmonium ?

  • @3NUNS This is an American Mason & Hamlin organ about 110+ years old.

  • Ummm Beautiful

  • @3NUNS Thanks. God bless you.

  • Maravilhoso!. Este foi usado no filme "Babettes Feast" e é um dos que eu mais gosto!. Gostaria saber se foi lançado em disco (vinyl)?!. Muito obrigado

  • Great job! That's one of my favorite hymns!

  • @feemeister This is one of my favorite too. Thanks. God bless you.

  • funny movie! first this eating-voice then a quiik when the song starts. but it´s a nice one. don´t be sad ;-)

  • Hahaha!

  • Asthmakrankes Harmonium ;-(

  • hilfe!! gestimmt würde das vielleicht gut klingen!

  • I'm sorry, I cannot understand German.

  • played well! but that organ needs a replacement, by a pipe organ!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I would love to get a pipe organ...but Singapore doesn't have one. Do you know where I can get a good one?

  • You could ask any director of a bigger church.

Do you live in singapore? Im sure you will find a church were you will be able to play sometimes.

  • @tprs2006 There is perhaps something you could do. I cleaned the reeds of my reed organ with benzine and after that they were almost in tune. It is amazing, how much dirt they collected after all the years. But be careful not to bend or break a reed.

  • @francomug Thanks for your advice...I need to do a good cleaning soon.

  • it looks like a street organ. You should try it in a real organ (a pipe one).

  • i think it would be even better if you played cesuras and much more legato - not bad though, good tempo

  • It would be nice if gifted people like you post more goodies from the lutheran hymnal.I wish to tell you that watching your videos make me think of the good old days in india. We live in an age of synthesizers but no electronic synthesizer can snatch the richness of the Organ.

  • Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. God bless you/Titus

  • Playing such old goodies, you gunna make me cry. Danke!

  • Nicely done. I have known this hymn since I was a child.

'If you but suffer God to guide you . . ."

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I'm happy you enjoyed it. God bless you.
