I love the Eagles, and they still function reasonably well without Don Felder, but they had to draft in "super side-man" Stuart Smith to replace him. Don Henley was wrong when he said that Felder had left the Eagles and no-one had noticed! I know many fans who DID notice! Joe Walsh is great, of course, but I think Don Felder is the best guitarist the band ever had!

Although Les Pauls tend to sound their best when played overdriven, I find their clean sound very warm and distinctive. Maybe Strats are a little bit more versatile, but if you´re serious about your guitar playing you really need both working tools, depending also on the styles you´ll be focusing on (country music requires a Tele, etc.).

I saw Randy Meisner at the Roxy shortly after his depature. All of them are phenoms, but the point is, as Don Felder writes in the book, they could not not individually be what the Eagles are collectively. I even spotted a gratuitous Henley interview saying as much.

Who guys seriously have no idea what went on between felder and the eagles first off. You can not tell me Felder is bigger than the Eagles. do u see felder filling up arenas for concerts. not really. The Eagles do not miss him at all. Felder is a good guitar player ill give u that. But as a person hes a dic. He divorced one of his wives because she found a job and would be away from the house for a long time. Felder didnt like that and divorced him but he can go on year long tours. hes an ass.

Don's book is an excellent read ! I can see why the Henley-Frey greed machine would want him silenced.Those two ran the Eagles the way Bush-Cheney run America !!Way to go Don, without you, there are no Eagles !!
I think it was more traumatic to him (at the time at least) than sad. His book is amazing and he proves to be a fair and gentlemanly throughout all his trials, tribulations and even most temptations. His music sort of speaks for his character; passionate and honest. I agree re not buying into the Eagles "corporation" anymore. There seems to be little left of a true "band" anyway; guys getting together for the love of music. Now it's just overly-priced tickets to soothe the egos of "The Gods."
@kellruss I'd have to say.....let Walsh and Timothy B depart the band and let the two guys recruit the rest of the backing band (the two piano players, the horns section, Steuart Smith, and Scott Crego on drums). I will gladly give over my whole month's money to see those guys! forget Henley and Frey.
