New pedals take getting used to. I have played DW, Pear, and Gibraltar. I now use Axis X series with wood beaters. I won't even look at any other pedals again. Mine have taken death metal abuse for 5 years and still play like they are new. With those, put the tension down about half way to get a floating feel and try going barefoot!!!! Dribble closer to the floor while using the weight of your leg to keep the pressure on, those damn pedals will straight come to life.

@cujo1990: Practice, practice, practice, that's all there is to it. Some have an easier time building speed, and some have a harder time (like me, damn it...), but in the end it all comes down to how much you practice. Anyone can become that fast if they practice enough.

Remember to practice the right way. Practice doesn't always make perfect, but it definetly makes permanent. Nothing worse that practicing bad technique.

And about my bad practicing technique, I started practicing the double base a lot about a year ago. I played with really tight springs and hade my muscles in legs and calfs very tense as well. Practicing like that for a year, gave me almost nothing. I started out at a solid 120, a year later I was at a solid 140... 20 bpm increase xD. I realized it wasn't working so I recently loosened my springs, relaxed all muscles and started all over again. Up in the 160s now, and still goin' up ;)

Well, I don't like to tighten my head for rebound, I tighten it for sound, and loose springs seem to work very well for me.

first, you must get a pedal that you feel comfortable, i recommend you try these very dictinct 3 pedals, tama iron cobra, axis-pedal(the one he is using), or pearl eliminators. and see which kind of pedal you feel good using it.
