And the Russians were allowed to take Berlin, it was politics...

You are wrong on a couple of points. The American Armed forces during WWII was composed of draftees. Civilians folded into service who didn't want to be there. Those civilian volunteers were just as quickly trained. Life long homemakers, wives, found themselves in factories welding together ships and planes. England was the base point of the invasion. Without Russia, it would have been harder but not impossible.

Well, a huge reason for the victory of ww2 was because of the US and aid from the UK and Russia, but, the US campaign was harder because it was very far (over seas) farther than britain and russia where the war was going nearby. I doubt the UK could have won the western campaign alone.

The UK never would have been able to push back into fortress Europe. Eventually the Germans would have made an across channel invasion attempt of their own (ie Operation Sealion). American won the war on two fronts: militarily in the Western European and Pacific Theaters and resource wise on all counts. German couldn't keep up the production capablities a nation that armed and provided munitions for not only itself but its two major allies as well.

Much of the resources of germany were locked up in russia and many russians were killed also. If it weren't for russia germany would have been able to counterattack the US full force. Also don't forget that russia eventually closed in on berlin and held most of the east.

We let the Russians have Berlin, just so you know. Also, the Russians only lost more men because of their battle style. They would just send thousands of men in large waves at the enemy in hope of over running them out of their positions. It's true that attrition took it's toll on the Germans, but the Russians were sloppy in WW2. If the winter's wouldn't have been so rough in Russia, then I believe the Germans might have taken them out. They were withing 3 miles of Moscow early in the war!

True but alot of germans lost their lives against the russians as well, many of the resources the germans had... men, weapons, industry etc where worn down and commited to the eastern front. Thats partly why the US had such an easy time sweeping through, its not like the US completely dominated they had alot of help in clearing their way. They just were the final push in toppling the tower, they didnt do all the work themselves, or even most of it imo, but they were still important.
