Quick Question.

I'm going to be buying a SV2 USB headset, and for most of the time, I play games like cod4/bad company 2 and some other FPS, but sometimes I listen to music if i get a little bored. Are they fine for music? Right now i'm using a pair of $60 from Sennheiser and I like them, something around the quality there. Thanks.

@campinginatent well - they're just like any other headphone / headset. not particular good. but the soundstage of the siberia v2 is quite good. the 5hv2 might be even better.

@takasta I'm using my Spectrum 5XB from my xbox right now, and they sound too sharp, almost to the point where it hurts. Are the 5hv2 and spectrum 5xb the same? they look exactly the same.

@iwaskid personally for music, i would go with other branded headphones such as AKG / sennheiser / audio technica etc, they're more suited for music. Siberia isn't bad for music, but i wouldn't recommend them over the others that i've listed.

Siberia V2 is way much better imo special the USB 7.1 virtual surround edition and the new ear cups in Sibera V2 is more comfortable then 5hv2 as well V1(siberia)

@takasta Thanks for your answer. Sorry, I wasn't very clear: it's the 5Hv2 Usb 7.1 so it has a 'built-in' usb soundcard. And again sorry: It is ofcourse plugged in in a usb port at the back - so, not with a green plug as I said before. I am going to try another usb port. Maybe that helps. Thx

I have the Steelseries 5H V2 but don't know what settings to use and (I'm not at all technical skilled..) don't even know if I have connected the soundcard in the right way.. I have plugged it into the green hole at the back of my desktop computer.

In Configuration screen, Sound, I have 'told' that the Steelseries is the standard sound device and all the others are switched off.

BUT I do not really experience to hear 'location' (footsteps of the enemy) very well..

Any suggestions?

@warnahati it would seem that if steelseries is the standard sound device, you're using a usb soundcard that came from steelseries? Try testing your headset with other headphones and see if there's a difference. i'm not too sure how else to help you haha sry.

@Croky92 - it's most likely due to the single sided cable. Since there is another method used for integrating this through the headband to the other driver in the earcup on the other side, after a little wear it's most likely to damage the signal and in general damage the cable through the headband. This is if it's only on the side without the cable. If it's the same side, I'm baffled here. That's why I go for headphones and headsets that have a 'Y' shaped cable.

I kinda prefer the 5h v2 because it seems better with his structure then that siberia of yours because I can't trust in that little strings next to the headband like Zackarak said... My neighbor had to bought those siberia twice because of that little strings... Overall, I prefer the 5h v2.

You can have 7.1 in normal siberia and both sucks couse it just virtual sound and not the same as real 5.1 or 7.1.... and you can hear with just 2.1 where the enemy location are... all cs allstar player are using 2.0 2.1

The headphones are very nice- but designed solely for gaming which means you'll be missing all of the bass from your music. I have a set of Sennheiser HD212Pros which have decent bass output and I prefer them for music. The 5HV2s are excellent for gaming and VoIP applications because the bass from all your FPS/explosions don't overwhelm your buddies on ventrilo or teamspeak.

The 5hv2 doesnt sit that well on my head, if you just bend a little forward, they fall off.

I'm a hardcore gamer, so I'll be wearing a headset for 5-6 hours straight, so Comfort > Quality.

I just bought a steelseries 5H V2 headset. I also have a built-in microphone. Even though i plug in my headset microphone, when i am in teamspeak or in-game, it still uses my built-in microphone. I tried switching devices on the control panel but it doesn't recognize it and still uses my screen microphone. I would appreciate some help because I paid $120 for this headset.

that's quite odd. I'm assuming you're using a laptop, and whether you're using an usb soundcard i'm not sure. If you're using a usb soundcard, all the audio / mic should go through your external soundcard and there should be no problem. If you're plugging it in directly, maybe theres something wrong with computer you should contact the manufactuer of your laptop

But you must remember, gamers cant expect their equipment to last very long. I go through about a mouse a year, and the only reason I dont kill keyboards is because the 7G is such an awesome keyboard.
