I am far from amateur. This isn't a pissing contest but I have been playing in working bands since 1985, when I was 15. I played jazz, fusion, prog, top 40, dance, funk, disco...you name it. I must have been doing it well since I was playing with people 15 to 20 years older than me. I know what I know and still stand by the fact that you are just upset because somebody else is playing with Beck and not you. I still play regularly and tour fairly often. @kokakoliaps3 Clapton...agreed. He has nice tone, after that, what has he done? He has barely a CD's worth of truly good material. He was never the player that Beck, Page, Hendrix were and wasn't the writer that Page and Hendrix were either. I don't hate the guy, it's just that there are so many better players than him.
I love the story about Hendrix first meeting Clapton, on stage, and he completely smoked him. Hendrix knew what he was doing that night and took "God" down. Overrated..sorry.

Sorry mate, I didn't mean to knock EVH, he is an incredible player, it was just the first name that popped into my head. I guess what I was trying to say was most great players ( even the the really really good ones) are technical masters but a very few (maybe 5 or 10) have that gift plus the guitar becomes part of them, they inhabit it, if you don't understand what I mean you just haven't seen one.

# 1 how did they folks get a private showing like that? #2 I bet half of them wrecked their cars on the way home most drove into trees or swerved off the road and ran into a ditch. Eat your heart out Eddie Van Halen, this is how it should be done, next to
Jimi Hendrix & Larry Carlton, Jeff Beck is the best player alive by far.
Sure Clapton is tasty, Lukather is hot but Beck inhabits the guitar in a way very few
players can match. BTW that girl can play the sh*t out that bass and the drummer kicks ass too, a great clip, thanks.

Gary Moore makes the Les Paul cry like nobody else, true. Force!
Clapton was one of the guys who started it all, listen to his elegance.
So many gifted musicians, so many different approaches...to each one his favorite...for the time being.

@kokakoliaps3 Clapton...agreed. He has nice tone, after that, what has he done? He has barely a CD's worth of truly good material. He was never the player that Beck, Page, Hendrix were and wasn't the writer that Page and Hendrix were either. I don't hate the guy, it's just that there are so many better players than him.
I love the story about Hendrix first meeting Clapton, on stage, and he completely smoked him. Hendrix knew what he was doing that night and took "God" down. Overrated..sorry.

@SuperStig23 there is no such thing as 'best player' in any field of music, instrument or musician. Like what you like. Just don't act like your opinion is fact. All of the guitarists you mention are brilliant, including EVH. Stop the elitist snobbery of acting like rock musicians don't compare to jazzers or bluesers. You cannot play down the fact that EVH took a style of guitar, meshed it with incredible technique and created a generation of life soundtracks out of it.

Sorry mate, I didn't mean to knock EVH, he is an incredible player, it was just the first name that popped into my head. I guess what I was trying to say was most great players ( even the the really really good ones) are technical masters but a very few (maybe 5 or 10) have that gift plus the guitar becomes part of them, they inhabit it, if you don't understand what I mean you just haven't seen one.
