  • Oh my gosh! I was at this concert and got chills when he sang this song! He has such an amazing voice and I was so glad I got to be a part of this magical Christmas concert. :)

  • He sings this beautifully... but I'm old school and I absolutely LOVE the traditional melody of O Come, O Come Emmanuel!!! Wonder if he has a recording of that?

  • so beautiful! Thank you, Clay, you have a God-given gift. Thanks, clarity, for posting this performance.

  • @acidragdoll if you feel that way about gays why are you watching and listening to Clay? You must not be a Christan by the way you talk (fag) God wants all to be Christ like and I don't think you are.

    @mceachn same goes for you?

Clay you did a wonderful job on this song...Love the way you changed it..You have a beautiful gift from God and you are using it for His Glory!!

You go Clay Aiken bring the good news to all the world!

Your a beautiful person inside and out..More than others.

  • beautifulll... :)

  • @bob1sded Jesus <3s sinners.

  • Goosebumps everytime he sings this song! LOVE IT!

  • don't want it!!

  • clay, are you sure you are ready for Emmanuel to come?

  • @IcKeYsGhOsT

im sure he is.... at least as much as you are :) God *is* love so wherever love is, there's God.

  • I didn't like this new tune/arrangement the first time I heard it, but it has grown on me. I still prefer the original, 15th C. tune, but I consider this one a nice variant - not a substitute.

Clay does an amazing job on this song - both tunes.

  • This is the tune and arrangement done by Steven Curtis Chapman. Did he compose the tune variation?

  • Beautiful voice....I'm always amazed at his Christmas renditions.

  • Hmmm....not a fan of this arrangement

  • It is actually an Advent hymn, four weeks of anticipation for Christmas. Advent meanings coming. Well done!

  • this is O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.

  • I've always thought of this as a very sad song. It's not so much triumphant, as Clay puts it, as a prayer of desperate hope, something the broken would whisper in the darkness. A plea for help which the chorus highlights, "Emmanuel SHALL come to thee." Not HAS come, but SHALL come. Really drives the point home how desperate those of olden days were for their Messiah. So much more depth and meaning than the modern day carols about trees and jingly bells.

  • Well, I'd agree- the original version of this song is very desperate, a very deep longing to be saved. But, this one is arranged to sound more triumphant, which I guess was to make it fit in with modern day? I don't quite know.

I'm more fond of the original version of this song. It's just so much more haunting. But, Clay sings this beautifully.

  • The original version has always been my favorite Christmas song and I think that it has (at least for me) to do with the fact that half of my religious heritage is Jewish and this has always sounded like a song you would hear in synagogue. Hebrew songs are often (read almost always) written in minor keys. Anyway, it is a plaintive song and has its place among the majestic Christmas carols. As arcanus points out, it has a depth that is unique among Christmas songs.

  • Why would that be funny; being gay doesn't mean you do not believe in God and can't rejoice over the birth of Christ.

  • Why, Clay.... whyyyy!!! We could have been happy together!!!

  • This is so beautiful it makes my heart ache. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Clay changes his hair all the time. If you don't like it, just wait a day or two. This video is from Dec2006.He's had at least 100 hairstyles since. To see his most recent look search for: "Clay Aiken in Mexico with Unicef, Christmas 2007"

  • Clay change your hair back ... beautiful rendition.

  • Duh, Clay. Suaramu bagus amat.

  • love the placement of the his hands throughout the whole song. and that voice....oh God that voice...*sigh*

  • ok, I love Clay...but I hate his hair like this. I miss the spiky, edgy hair.

  • What a beautiful song and what a wonderful performance by Clay! Clay's angelic voice moves me every time I listen, thank you Clay!

  • Love it Love it Love it !!!!

  • Beautiful arrangement of the song. Man, he really feels it, he seems to be almost crying during part of it.

  • Beautiful....really beautiful...Why is this cd only being sold at Walmart...

  • That was the BEST i ever heard! we r learning that song in my choir here but the minor ones but i have to say clay's was the BEST! he should put it in his NEXT ALBUM if he will make!! i Hope he does!

  • Oh my, that was lovely.

  • Clay sings this song with so much emotion; it's a joy to watch and listen.

  • Beautifully done! What a gorgeous voice and song.

    Thank you!
