Wow, absolute hatchet job.....not the least bit surprised by the source though. Wouldn't mind having a Volt for a daily driver, spend a little on electricity to drive on days that the weather is decent, and save my YouTube namesake for "heavy lifting" jobs, long distance drives, and Chicago winters!
And love how they spout things as if they are facts, the cost per Volt to the taxpayer isn't documented as to where they got that fact and it isn't compared to the amount it costs taxpayers on other cars... what about trade concessions with foreign automaker? This is just their opinions and not news.
People look at cost of the Volt as a standalone purchase but not in total ownership. I own one, and drive 60 miles on a commute per day. On average I'm using .56 gallons of gas per day. So, less than $2 per day in gas, and am filling up only once every 3-4 weeks. Sitting on the charger for 10 hours costs about $0.8 per day, so for less than $3 per day I can drive this car. In 5 years of owning, it will be cheaper than the car I traded in. That's the value proposition.
You do realize if someone buys a Volt over a Mercedes or BMW that's a win for America and American jobs. This video is what's wrong with America. Two idiots delivering crap and calling it news.
I am ready to make a website that corrects all the misinformation that FOX spews... I just know that would be a full time job and then some given all their misinformation.
@clarksoncote It is not dedicated to just talk about FOX but check this site out: mediamatters org or fair org for even more nauseating examples of "not-fair and un-balanced!"
There is almost no honesty in this piece and their math is very fuzzy.
Volt fires are non-existent except in a lab. Over 100,000 car fires occur annually with gas cars. These occur immediately or almost immediately with many people unable to escape. The Volt fires occurred 3 weeks after the crash and only because the testers didn't follow procedure. The Volt is a safe car. Granted, the price needs to drop significantly and it will in time.
Amazing how you can hire a right-wing puppet as an "expert" opinion, and just make up the news as you go along. The Volt and Leaf have waiting lists.
Wow, the cluelessness of this Fox News segment and the Manhatten Institute (a right-wing shill) are absolutely breathtaking. There are so many things wrong with this segment and their facts that it would take a full page of rebuttal, but it's not worth the time....it's just politically-motivated nonsense that motivates them to make up stuff and bounce it around their little echo chamber. Smart people will check it out and and find out that it's BS and move on.
Uninformed talking heads. Plugging in every 20 minutes? I plug in once every 24 hours. Sales of Volts are increasing month over month. Value proposition? I now spend $32/month in electric instead of $240 in gas. That's savings of $2880/year one, and $14,400 by year 5.
Two fires occurred in Chevy Volts _weeks_ after a side-impact crash test while the cars were sitting in crash-test junkyards, and the nature of these fires was far from life threatening. Not one Volt has caught fire in a customer used Volt in a real-world scenario. The Wikipedia page for the Chevy Volt lists more details.
Every driver of a normal gas powered car faces far more risk from a post-crash fire from a gasoline leak.
For the record it cost $39,000

This whole interview is flat out WRONG! He is basing the Volt off of his own personal opinion.
@ Robert > do your homework, do your research, test drive the volt, talk to owners and most of all GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT!!!
