I don't know about this game really. I'm only on the fourth or fifth level and I'm already kind of bored. The basic mechanics of the gameplay are fine and work well, but the atmosphere is a bit bland to be honest. "Things go boo in the dark" isn't what makes a game scary, and so far that's pretty much all DOOM 3 has been.
This didn't scare me. The one game that scared me was the F.E.A.R series omg I played F.E.A.R 3 all night alone and I was in a corner huging a Teddy Bear (not really) But it was FUCKING scary!

Meh. PC version is better. Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II are available on Steam for a pretty low price, PC version has better graphics and all the levels, while Xbox version had some levels dumbed down or just cut to make it playable in Co-op. And the Co-op mode itself? Available with a mod. Along with lots of other cool stuff available with mods.
Does anyone know if the original Doom 3 on the Xbox is widescreen? If yes, where is the option for it? If not, does the collector's edition or Resurrection of Evil support widescreen on the xbox? Thanks in advance.

ID is living in the 90's to much there game design is stuck in the 90's. People want more from a game then just if it shoots moves. Game needs to have some sort of story. In my opinion Xbox 1 is the best console of the old generation. I actually just bought it..again. I had owned it previously but sold it...well I have it again and man it is good. The first two games that I found from gamestore was Doom 3 and Doom3: Resurrection of Evil. I have just finished Doom3 and soon start to play the additional levels/continuation game. It looks just fantastic! I mean wow! One of the BEST FPS games in Xbox1. Half-Life 2 is awesome too. I'm gonna find that next..to play!
Same here, I've had a 360 for some time now, plus this quad core amg phenom pc...Gave my original xbox to a friend a while ago after purchasing the 360...bit of a mistake there, I had Halo CE (Got it on pc anyway) Halo 2, Fable, that different version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Half Life 2, Doom 3 etc Couldn't believe that little box was easily playing next gen games that PC gamers were paying fortunes to upgrade for.
Think I'm just nostalgic, not likely buy one again though.
For all those people who rip on the xbox version, I can see to some extent where you are coming from. The pc version is indeed the better way to experience doom 3. On the other hand when you consider the technical limitations of the original xbox, its still quite a good looking game.

I understand why they use these dark atmospheres but that pushed me away from the game, I hate walking through rooms where I can see absolutely nothing, it gets very annoying, especially when enemies attack you from all directions and you cannot see them coming, it adds fright but also frustration. It is also too challenging for me, because of that, I prefer DOOM 2, but this game is gorgeous though (i have the pc version)

i played through the game once and i find that not having a flashlight attached to a gun was a nice touch to the frantic "oh, shit theres a zombie..(takes out gun)..crap i cant see it no more..(takes out flashlight) oh i see.." but the second time i played i decided to get a mod which does have lights on the guns..which was pretty sweet
yes if 360 still offers backwards compatibility i know when they did doom 3 was on the list cuz i bought a used copy and hooked up my 360 to the net and threw in the game and it downloaded the program it needed to but its not in 16:9 raito as no xbox games where where 360 games are
The repetitive gameplay is the game's main flaw, but the constant flow of both new enemies and weapons throughout the levels up until after Hell keeps it from getting too boring since you always have something new to play with or fight. The thing I personal didn't like about it is the fact that the game is so damn hard lol. It's like you're playing a survival RPG but without the RP. Good luck with that ammo and health son.
yes this game is hard. i hate how health packs are always there when you don't need them, but never around when you DO need them. -_- but i still love this game its a lot of fun.
Yeah, it's one of the best "up in your face combat" game play games I've ever played. Almost all of your weapons are low accuracy and you're in tight quarters with things that want to kill you via melee attacks. That's where the excellent movement system comes in, which allows you to smoothly dodge/maneuver and carry through your mouse movement in coordination to get a quick reflexive shot right in the back of your enemy with ease.
Good review, I thought it was a lot easier on the xbox and I found myself using the shotgun/SMG a lot, whereas on the PC I mainly had to use the chaingun and rocket launcher.

Having extra bonus content does not mean it's a better game. Sure you have Coop but you also have limited competitive multiplayer, and worse graphics.

@mortdepeur13 yeah but the xbox was also virtually indestructible compared to the pc, I actually tested the theory too, I hurled my old xbox down a flight of stairs and it still worked, I did the same to one of my old computers and I had to get a new one.

@YuG074 alright let me explain, the point of the first comment I posted on this video was to prove that the original xbox was damn near indestructible next to the 360 everyone and their grandmother has heard of the red ring of death Im sure, I used to own a 360 so I know what a piece of shit the system is next to the original as for the PC the one I threw was already broken anyway, the motherboard was fried on it after about 5 years of it working. that should explain what I was meaning.

@YuG074 as for which is better for doom 3, thats very debateable, xbox was easier to control for me while the pc had the dev console to spawn stuff like extra zombies weapons etc if I had to choose I would still say its best on xbox.

I understand why they use these dark atmospheres but that pushed me away from the game, I hate walking through rooms where I can see absolutely nothing, it gets very annoying, especially when enemies attack you from all directions and you cannot see them coming, it adds fright but also frustration. It is also too challenging for me, because of that, I prefer DOOM 2, but this game is gorgeous though (i have the pc version)

i played through the game once and i find that not having a flashlight attached to a gun was a nice touch to the frantic "oh, shit theres a zombie..(takes out gun)..crap i cant see it no more..(takes out flashlight) oh i see.." but the second time i played i decided to get a mod which does have lights on the guns..which was pretty sweet

The repetitive gameplay is the game's main flaw, but the constant flow of both new enemies and weapons throughout the levels up until after Hell keeps it from getting too boring since you always have something new to play with or fight. The thing I personal didn't like about it is the fact that the game is so damn hard lol. It's like you're playing a survival RPG but without the RP. Good luck with that ammo and health son.
Oh, and the audio logs/emails are fun too =p

Yeah, it's one of the best "up in your face combat" game play games I've ever played. Almost all of your weapons are low accuracy and you're in tight quarters with things that want to kill you via melee attacks. That's where the excellent movement system comes in, which allows you to smoothly dodge/maneuver and carry through your mouse movement in coordination to get a quick reflexive shot right in the back of your enemy with ease.

Good review, I thought it was a lot easier on the xbox and I found myself using the shotgun/SMG a lot, whereas on the PC I mainly had to use the chaingun and rocket launcher.
