When I first listened to this album I hated it. But, my best friend got it for my birthday so I listened to it more because I felt bad. Now, I fucking love it. Just gotta give it a chance. This is also my favorite song from this album
This is different but I like it. Sounds like they're trying their hand at melodic/symphonic metal which they could do if they wanted to go that route. I love this song and feel that this album will make it big (as all of their others had). Not too far different form Comalies but different enough to make it noteworthy of pure coolness and great talent. Great job Cristina, great job!
Comalies is my favorite Lacuna Coil album but this one is good as well, More in the mainstream direction, but still a little reminiscent of their older stuff.
I love this band, saw them in concert, they are a great band, the music is awesome, I own most of their cds,and I can't wait to see them in concert again, Shallow Life is my favorite Album
This is my first time listening to this band. My first time listening to an Italian band. I'm American, but I have Irish and Italian background. :D :D This sounds AWESOME! I love American, Japanese, Russian, and German music. I will add Italian music to my list. :)
:) I love this song! I can hear it over and over again and never get tired of it! It's my elegy, it's really powerful and tough! It lifts my mood up so that I never get hanging, so I'll fight for what I want!
Strange but that's what the song makes me feel... XD
I haven't been the biggest lacuna coil fan over the years, but christinas little solo at 2:40 is just epic.
And they don't sound THAT different than they used to. Of what I do like, it's not of a particular era. I like some songs on the first album as much as this one.
I wake up to a smoking gun The evidence is in your head There's no proof of guilt or innocence I'm finished with you taking me through A line of questioning that feeds you I'm must confess I'm here to kill the pain. The sword of justice in your hand You cut me down, sharp like a blade You make me want to never trust again I'm finished with you draging me through More lies and deceipt that feeds you I'm must confess I'm here to kill the pain
So much criticism here. This album is a little different from their previous work but Karmacode was different from Comalies, and In a Reverie different from Comalies. Yhey have changed the style and concept on each of album and with every change we experience an increased knowledge of how talented they really are. I still experiece the same emotions as I did with Comalies. As they get older, they become more experimental with their music and I applaud them for it because this album is brilliant.
I recently came to the conclusion that this song could be on Comalies. It has that experimental nature to it, not unlike Tight Rope or Angels' Punishment.
I personally think this is one of the best tracks on the album! sooo what... the album sounds some what a little different from their others ...call it 'innovation'.
+ There's some seriously catchy tunes either way.
Can't you see why some fans don't like it very much? They basically sold themselves out, they are no longer Gothic Metal but Pop metal... I personally like the album as well, just cause I am that big of a fan of the band.
It's nice to see someone that actually acknowledges that. I happen to be one of those people that really misses their old stuff but hey, I always have those album to listen to. I just keep looking forward to the next album and hoping. This isn't a terrible album by any means, they just appeal to a different demographic now.
i like this new CD really, i liked a lot of their older stuff but in my opinion it was always a little too ambient, like it wasn't foused enough, if that makes any sense. i like their new stuff.
um i been a fan ever since i heard heaven's a lie and my favorite lacuna coil song is Purify, i just hate when people can not except when a band changes and have to give them shit for it
People like yourself and nathaniel are not any better than said new fanbase.
If you were a true fan, you'd support their change, it's still the same band. A true fan would enjoy everything the band has to offer, not criticize when they do something you didn't expect.
They didn't sell out, they chose to go a different route, to explore a little.
The problem is when a band changes You are forced to accept the new change. Honestly, I thought karmacode was a change. The new album caters to those who hopped onbard at karmacode, but when they were doing stuff like "1.19" and "When a dead man walks", A TRUE FAN would be able to accept why other fans dont like this album. It's too drastic of a change from their old sound... They attract new fans, and leave their old fans with nothing new. It's not fair to say were not "true" fans...
Why thank you for understanding the plea of a long term fan, without ripping my face off for hating their new stuff... The only thing I feel is acceptable on the new album is spellbound... and oblivion, which is only a bonus track on the UK version... which is BS... oblivion is like the perfect display of their old sound, but with things of new... Why is the rest of the album so different?

your opinon is shit...lets say lamb of god started playing country music we're suppose to accept it cause we're a fan?..we're fans cause of the good music they put out...when they slap their true fans in the face with this mainstream crap then thats a big fuck you to us...and true fans are the ones that listened to them and went to shows when noone knew who they were, when they were broke and hungry and played from the heart before mtv exploited them and destroyed what was pure
I think maybe you're mistaking 'acceptance' with liking and listening and buying their albums anyway.
Because you're a fan you'd accept that the band you like has moved on to something else. Whether you stay a fan or not doesn't matter, the point is, a band can't stay the way you want to. Nothing wrong with saying 'those where the good days' and remembering the band for the music you liked rather than make a big deal over their change.
@jackishperson I agree with you, true fans support the band, however they go with their music. Personally I love it when a band will change their sound, it keeps the fans loyal, and keeps it interesting.
@jackishperson i totally agree with u, i listen lacuna coil like 10 years ago, and i notice the change in karmakode , still this record its totally different of everything else, but is a good change its more clean and trought the years lacuna coil still sorprise me.
I have to agree, from the first time I listened to it on the cd, I loved it. I agree that their earlier cds are good, but this is good too, like everyone else thought
The second best on the album, behind "Not Enough" (my opinion.) Shallow Life is a decent album, certainly, but LC can do much better. I like the syncopated drum beats and atmospheric devices. Great song.
Compared to the earlier material before Karmacode this record is barely anything but I still love this one! And I SO agree! Not Enough is kick-ass!!!!
I thought I'd gone to the limits. I hadn't. this song gave me an experience beyond limits... pain and pleasure, indivisible.

I believe that a true fan is also able to accept when a band changes their sound, whether they like the new music or not.
When a band decides to change and move on, the fans also need to move on, whether they move on with the band or not.
