  • @cry29sis I guess what makes Dubai worse than other places is the climatic conditions and geographic location. You literally get trapped there, I guess.

  • WTF? They have air conditioners. Can't be that harsh. Weak as piss.

  • dubai.. the arabs themselves lick up to europeans

about pakistanis/bangladeshis, hoping for moslem brotherhood, well, lick my ass, that would be better

  • dubai is just heaven ......... and these r not really bad conditions there r worse conditions in india, china, etc ...... if this were bad conditions for them y wud the labourers stay there they could as well just leave they cannot b citizens of the country they can just do smthn illegal and get deported

  • shame on u.a.e. !

  • Good on you for your attitude. Nice photography but I don't think you made your case. I know how these people are treated as I talk regularly to them. I don't think your pictures captured just how bad it is.

  • whats the name of this song plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!

and yes i lived there and have seen the workers and there condition

the government is messed up thats an obv fact

  • @my2dayur2mrw that music is a cover of a theme from the movie, Requiem for a Dream, original music by Clint Mansell. it's scary.

  • An example of mans inhumanity to man.

  • where the hell r the towelhead ,bed sheet wearing muhamedsin this pictures ?

probably @ their 7 start hotels

  • Good Work. Coming from Dubai, I sincerely hope more such videos of the 'real people' of Dubai are shown to the world.

Behind all that glamour is a hidden tragedy that the world has to be awakened to.

Good luck with your future works!

  • Arab construction companies are notorious for this kind of behavior.Even in the west, they will cut corners on site safety, putting peoples lives at risk and getting them to pay for the work done is like getting blood from a stone.

  • Forgot to mention broad daylight murders, theft and snatchings....emirates is truly a heaven even for the poors....

  • Being from a country in South Asia....i have to say if they were living way back home with their more meager wages as they looked semi-skilled labourers than the places are 90% more bad....with overflowing gutters, roads that are patchy, convertible public busses, power outs with no personal generators etc So compared to that the place in emirates seem a heaven for them....

  • I've seen some of the camps that are far, FAR worse than this - they are BAD.

  • well its still better than condition of those workers who are making your cheap cloth and food every day . but they are not in your country and cant see them so its ok :)

  • @82gall it would be interesting, to do a photodocumentary piece about these people as well I think

  • @82gall

Will this "philosophy" hold good, when you /family are at the receiving end ?

  • What are they complaining about? This is still better than the shit holes they came from.

  • @ppot1103

The question is not 'is Dubai paying them more than jobs in their home countries'. It is 'Is Dubai a slave-owning country. For a "developed" country there is no excuse for treating workers so shabbily. Any Western country enforces a minimum wage even to illegal workers.

Arguments like yours have no place in civilized societies. Dubai currently is not one although it aspires to become one. I hope it does.

  • actually i work at a construction site in Dubai and we have labourers working for us and there is no doubt in my mind that this is a form of slavery. We have to pay our workers cash under the table or they won't see any of it. We tried to fly them home to see their families for a week and couldn't because their passports are being withheld. This is definatly 110% complete slavery and its bullshit!

  • so your traying to say that Dubai is prisoning these people... belive me they have the choic to go back home and keep starving thier income is so greater than they woulve expect in thier country otherwise they wouldnt come to Dubai

  • not so bad actually ..

  • One would think, that in a city like Dubai, which is in many ways more modern than most european cities, these conditions wouldnt have come about in the first place

  • @HellFox24584

dubai, which is in many ways more modern than most european cities,

Can you please elucidate, in what ways

  • @nrittam

in no ways it is a crabby city with a huge debt i don't see that ever the royal family of dubai pay to the debt half

dubai is bad then london luxembourg , rome etc.

it canno be compared to the cities like singapore macau honkon etc.

afterall when oil will be dried then people will realize

the pain which converted a fukin desert into a worldclass city

  • Look at this way, in 19th century Europe, workers endured the same conditions. Now, Europe is advanced and modern. Any society goes through the same economic stages.

  • Comment removed

  • Thats a 5* hotel compared to where they come from in India

  • Why dont they just put up sings at the workers camps with: Arbeit macht frei.

The only diffrents is they dont kill workers but exploit them untill they can no longer use them.

But in the end its just as bad.

  • If you want to raise awareness and have people take this issue seriously, change that godawful music...

  • These poor laborers live and work in horrible conditions.Dubai is a city of evil capitalist filth built on the back of the workers.

  • It is 100% True! I still remember 2007 How 54 labours commited suiciedes! hanged themselves in Fan!
