@MrMikerose48 i looked mine doesnt have one ...am i going 2 have buy 1 of those hd cords that have the blue green and red cables? ...dunno nothing about anything :(
@second2souless Yes, go to gamestop and they are about 10 bucks. Or, the expensive option is to go to gamestop and have them upgrade it to be compatible with HDMI. Good luck.
Hdmi brings FULL 1080p Now the component brings 1080i now im not a monitor expert but apperently the component cable is worse but with an incredible small inch. But i got the information that 1080i is worse then the ''p'' but a very small difference but can be noticed.
i aways believed they were the same until my ps3 broke, so i decided to use my 1 hdmi slot on my xbox instead, and i must day hdmi is a major improvment to the hd compenment cables, battlefield 3 looks so much better some how
im not being funny in real life if you did this you would notice a difference but if you had never tried it before and you watched this test you would just think fuck it, it dont make no difference i cant be arsed
I play on a tiny 23 inch lcd which only displays up to 720p/1080i, and even I noticed a difference between the component and hdmi cable. Text looks more clear, colors look better, and textures look a lot better especially on the more graphically complex games like gears of war. That person who said component and hdmi present the same image quality is full of shit.
After doing some research, I was surpised to actually see a big difference on my Plasma TV after upgrading to HDMI from component.
#1 - New options appeared on my xbox360 settings. I went with RGB and Expanded for blacks. This made the colors look a lot more natural and rich. Batman: Arkham City, A game that is mostly dark, looks even better now.
#2 - The motion blur when I pan to the left and right seem to have been reduced. Making some games a lot less annoying to play.
HDMI comes with its own Digital audio unlike the component which is strictly video and it can support 1080p unlike the Component, which can support 720p and 1080i. It comes down to this, its easier to have just one cable that can do both audio and video than 5 cables that do practically the same thing.
Everyone saying Hdmi supports 1080p on Xbox 360 has not read enough. The Xbox 360 uses a HDMI 1.3 connection which has a max of 1360x768 resolution. Composite has a limit to 1080i/720p. The way to go is Vga which has support up to 1080p.
I have a normal tv (no HD) i guess i don't have to use (or can use) HDMI? i'm sorry i don't know much about this stuff xD an answer would be helpfull ty.
when i put the hdmi and av at same time, i change the input to hd but i only get the picture, no sound. i change the input to av, i get sound but no picture ???
okay I need some help here... I'm fit to be tied and am a stone-throw from giving up completely on this topic: Been trying to get my xbox360 elite with kinect to kick over to hdmi on my 720 HDTV "Element". I've used 2 different HDMI cables, but can't switch the damn picture over from AV. Keeps telling me unsupported mode. Can't plug the AV and HDMI in, sooo I can't neccessarily switch it over... Idk what I'm doing wrong, or what the hell I need, but I'm getting frustrated with it so. Any advice?
@Marionet64 I asked because I'm hearing from some people that the new Xbox 360 Slim is already set to 1080p, but I don't know for sure if it's true or not.
@AngeloCusipag i got the xbox 360 slim, and i recently bought a 700 series monster hdmi cable and the picture difference is unbelievable. The game mass effect has a lot clearer and sharper image, also the game fable 3 looks amazing, make sure to set ur xbox 360 slim to the hdmi mode for best quality.
@BeastGT87 Cant agree more with you. I also bought a hdmi cable recently and before plugging it I was thinking "how much can it be improved? The picture that i have looks well enough". Well, no...I was blown away by the picture with the hdmi. An eye-gasm, you might say.
First, we have no idea how his TV is setup or calibrated. Second, he is recording this using a CAMERA, and not a direct capture. Third, everyone viewing this has different makes and models of monitors, using different panels, and different color, contrast, sharpness, and gamma setting.
There is no way to gauge image quality properly as there is no reference image for comparison.
FYI, both component and standard hdmi present the same image quality.
@DaedalEVE hmm yeah, xbox doesnt supports 1080p on most disc games, and the only diffrence is probally that hdmi has 5.1...which i dont even know if xbox supports split channel 5.1
720p and 1080i. Though honestly component CAN carry a 1080p signal, it's just that most TV's won't accept a 1080p signal via component (some do though). Also, things like BD and games often carry DRM encryption, which component does not support.
@DaedalEVE what im trying to figure out is if my tv accepts 1080p through component cables and i feed those cables through an hd pvr would i still be able to play my game in 1080p
@funnyboi3314 the HD PVR doesn't actually support or record in 1080p. it supports and records in 1080i which is practically the same apart from the frames are halved. due to the frames being halved, it's better to record in 720p with a HD PVR.
@DaedalEVE Everything should scale properly though. Even under the shittiest circumstance you should be able to tell which looks better. The quality scales down for us to view on youtube, but it scales proportionately. Just remember that.
@DaedalEVE If that were true then why are HDMIs so highly spoke of and popular? Also, the quality of camera and moniter makes no difference. So long as they are both shown with the same equipment then the difference in quality still counts to some extent
Component Does 1080P just as good as hdmi. Component has more then enough bandwidth then HDMI.
Component is analog and as such can get interference and also some devices do not let 1080p work via component so HDMI is best but if you have the right setup Component does 1080p just fine.
So HDMI better but if you hook up Component correctly it is not a big difference.
I disagree I bought a new telly which had hdmi over my old composite and i notice If anything hdmi makes Blacks look to black and unatural. The picture is sharper but everything seems too dark and unbalanced somehow. Although component is 'softer' overall i prefer the picture. This is what my eyes see anyway.
@TsarDusan87 Thats why your HDMI tv will have settings that you can adjust :) Mine has the option to make black and white brighter or dimmer either way.
@tacospartan hdmi obviously, component is analog, and since the xbox 360 uses a digital signal, then u would lose quality when having to watch the signal with a component cable ;)
@deluke3 no u do NOT, its optional, and if u do then u get early access to demos, betas, u get free games, free avatars, free themes and for $30 a year its a pretty good deal.
is there any real difference between the standard/hd componant hybrid cable used on the hd setting, and and hdmi cable? im considering buying an hdmi cable but idk if it woudl be worth the money or not?
@WinVistaUser2 i have a hd tv but my old as hell 360 has no hdmi. do the regular white xboxs these days all have hdmi ports? or do i have to buy an elite or something?
@chuckkick dude all xbox 360's have hdmi ports under the original port for video even when microsoft first commercially released the 360 hdmi was a new big thing so microsoft put a port there....
@XC0MB4TXEV0LV3D sorry your right i was mistaken but the quality in hdmi is no different than component cables. HDMI looks good because of the tv some are good so quality is good some are not as good so quality is not as good. HDMI is only a means for less cables so they really are the same...1080p for a 1080p tv in both
no actually they do not, I have an original Xbox 360 version one sitting here in front of me right now and I'm looking at the back, and there is no HDMI port, and of course then I have my Xbox360 S. In any case when the 360 first came out it was not HDMI capable. Finally. People who claim that the Component and HDMI are the same are fools. It is not physically possible for component to carry 1080p, the console and the TV may 'emulate' it but its not actual 1080p.
@chuckkick Yes, all of the Xbox 360s nowadays have an HDMI port (2007-present). Since the HDTVs came out in late 2007, people bought the newly updated Xbox 360 and an HDMI cable since the picture is kick ass, just like hooking up a computer monitor via DVI cable, which is similar to HDMI. The Xbox 360 Elite came with an HDMI cable in late 2007. Plus, you can also hook up your Xbox 360 via VGA (computer) and the picture is also in 1080p (sort of).
i played fifa world cup a week ago and the graphics were awesome clear picture, the players were awesome and everythinkng)
but yesterday i wanted to play a little adn the picture is fuzzy and everything ( hte players are very bad ) and i think that the dashboard changed textures a little too
i think the settings are all fine ,i plugged in the component and there was like on pc 640 graphics it was worse then hdmi.i trired my xbox on my neighbours hdtv and the graphics were exactly the same ( fuzzy and textures bad) so i think the only problem could be xbox?
@TheRogueMonk okay go to your dashboard , and if you havent already done this go right across to system settings and go to display etc there you will have all the options to make your display to an 1080p or i ot lower like an 820 or 720.
I'm thinking of getting an HDMI cable for my 360. I've been using my component cable for like 2 or 3 years. I was wondering, will it make my dashboard look better when I'm playing on a 50 inch 1080p tv?
you know it's funny. I had an HDMI cable which I bought for really cheap on eBay. I later found out it only went to 1080i instead of 1080p. I got a component cable for my 360 and suddenly I could use 1080p. Which is sorta backwards of what most people think. Though if you buy a nice HDMI cable it'll have full HD. The reason people think Component isn't as good is because HDMI is full digital while Component transfers it to analog. I myself can't really see the difference.
@crazyjorge2111 Actually I know mine can. It says so in the little blue box in the corner when I turn on the tv. When I go to the display settings on my 360 the 1080p isn't highlighted when I use my HDMI but it is when I use component.
I have a problem and its so fricken retarded, if anyone can please help me, it would be seriously godlike.
My xbox doesnt have a HDMI port, so im just using the regular stick that came with the xbox.
So im plugging the xbox in as you normally would, and want to play my fricken game, but it says that it can only be played in pal60. so i go to the setting to change it, from pal50 to 60, but now the picture is fucked- when theres a black surface, there are some red stripes -shitty quality.
@TheRevolutionary465 i personally prefer component cables to hdmi cables because the cables are heavier and less prone to wear and tear. they are going to give the same picture quality at 1080i or 720p, but you will need an expensive hdmi cable for 1080p. i do not own an xbox but this is from my experience working in the television field.
@KingofComputing They are not all expensive. There are great, cheap hdmi cables at monoprice. That's where I got mine. Component can also handle 1080p but only if your tv will handle 1080p through component. You should know that if you work in the television field.
@crazyjorge2111 well then that is new because the last i knew component would only carry up to 1080i thus why people use hdmi. if not, then why use it, i'd much rather use component cables then hdmi, the hdmi plug is flimsy. where i work we use component cables with bnc ends for all of our video transmission to and from the router from the mac pros to the head end.
man i feel like a bitch saying this but, the wires that they give when u buy the xbox is the standard right? 720p? and the other cable u can get is the hdmi 1080i? so which is better? I might be getting a 360 and i want it HD. is 780HD? (i know i suck im 15 and im still pretty confused) so which one should i buy. reply me pls! >.<
@jameschoi999 1080i has smaller pixles and better sharpness thus somewhat increasing depth perception, however you won't really notice it unless you spend hours each day gaming.
My friend told me that HDMI will pretty much only make a big change if u have a big TV, i put it in my 19 inch HD and it looked worse than the regular HD component, but i have a 32 inch that i will be open soon, would that affect greatly how the graphic looks on my 32?
@hoang1428 did you tweak any settings? usually HDMI has deeper contrast and if you don't change your settings to lighten it everything becomes almost two tone and too dark.
you know whats fucked up?? that M$ didn't include a HDMI output on the 2007 Xbox 360 models so I'm basically stuck with HD component cables.. they should of had the HDMI output since the beginning those money hungry bastards ... But it really doesn't matter anymore since I only play on my PS3...fuck M$
The HDMI can only output the same resolution as the component on the Xbox 360. It's true, not that big of a difference. The Xbox looks fine with component cables. The PS3 on the other hand contains settings that could be output with their HDMI cords. It's just typical Microsoft trying to milk money from customers.
@TheJooooker only xbox games are 720p,but the movies on netflix or zune can go up to 1080p,so buy the cable. Also maybe in the futrue the xbox360 will have 1080p games.
um why do peopel say 720p and 1080p, the xbox cant go native 1080p or 720p, its more like 900p and 650p (yess there are such things as this for example ps3 can play 750p if run using some stupid mod so can some blueray players) but my xbox cant play true hd, i did the box pixle test it has gray along with black and white, it should only show sharp black and white lines
HDMI is 10x better than component.

is there any real difference between the standard/hd componant hybrid cable used on the hd setting, and and hdmi cable? im considering buying an hdmi cable but idk if it woudl be worth the money or not?

If i have the xbox without HDMI wtf am i suposed to do :S is there a way to hack hdmi to it or something -.-
mantheman100 1 year ago
component compared to hdmi. Component looks a lot grainier.
crazyjorge2111 1 year ago
@crazyjorge2111 it's considered Standard Def, while the HDMI cables are like PC Monitor DVI connections (1080p) in Hi-Def.
WinVistaUser2 1 year ago
@crazyjorge2111 it's considered pixelated (1080i), while the HDMI cables are like PC Monitor DVI connections (1080p) in Hi-Def.
i = Interlace (lag & pixels)
p = Progressive (sweet picture and sound)
WinVistaUser2 1 year ago
@WinVistaUser2 Dude I'm not stupid. And component cables CAN carry 1080p signals. They just look a little grainier in comparison.
crazyjorge2111 1 year ago
@WinVistaUser2 i have a hd tv but my old as hell 360 has no hdmi. do the regular white xboxs these days all have hdmi ports? or do i have to buy an elite or something?
chuckkick 1 year ago
@chuckkick dude all xbox 360's have hdmi ports under the original port for video even when microsoft first commercially released the 360 hdmi was a new big thing so microsoft put a port there....
iMoDz114 1 year ago
@iMoDz114 Umm no they don't i got mine at launch and does not include a hdmi port.
XC0MB4TXEV0LV3D 1 year ago
@XC0MB4TXEV0LV3D sorry your right i was mistaken but the quality in hdmi is no different than component cables. HDMI looks good because of the tv some are good so quality is good some are not as good so quality is not as good. HDMI is only a means for less cables so they really are the same...1080p for a 1080p tv in both
iMoDz114 1 year ago
@iMoDz114
no actually they do not, I have an original Xbox 360 version one sitting here in front of me right now and I'm looking at the back, and there is no HDMI port, and of course then I have my Xbox360 S. In any case when the 360 first came out it was not HDMI capable. Finally. People who claim that the Component and HDMI are the same are fools. It is not physically possible for component to carry 1080p, the console and the TV may 'emulate' it but its not actual 1080p.
Daharen 1 year ago
@chuckkick Yes, all of the Xbox 360s nowadays have an HDMI port (2007-present). Since the HDTVs came out in late 2007, people bought the newly updated Xbox 360 and an HDMI cable since the picture is kick ass, just like hooking up a computer monitor via DVI cable, which is similar to HDMI. The Xbox 360 Elite came with an HDMI cable in late 2007. Plus, you can also hook up your Xbox 360 via VGA (computer) and the picture is also in 1080p (sort of).

i played fifa world cup a week ago and the graphics were awesome clear picture, the players were awesome and everythinkng)
but yesterday i wanted to play a little adn the picture is fuzzy and everything ( hte players are very bad ) and i think that the dashboard changed textures a little too
i got an hdmi and hdtv
do you know what could be the problem?
TheSvinja 1 year ago
@TheSvinja try configuring your settings in the hdtv.
if that doesn't work, try using the comparing the component cable to the hdmi one to see if your hdtv fully supports hdmi.
FlamingMicrowav 1 year ago
@FlamingMicrowav
i think the settings are all fine ,i plugged in the component and there was like on pc 640 graphics it was worse then hdmi.i trired my xbox on my neighbours hdtv and the graphics were exactly the same ( fuzzy and textures bad) so i think the only problem could be xbox?
TheSvinja 1 year ago
@TheSvinja well if the xbox is defective, see if warranty will cover it, I don't think that happens normally.

TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk okay go to your dashboard , and if you havent already done this go right across to system settings and go to display etc there you will have all the options to make your display to an 1080p or i ot lower like an 820 or 720.
good luck
shane0harris11 1 year ago
@shane0harris11 i realized its the games fault not me...
some games even new ones have really bad resolution by default
i was suprised to see that rainbow six 2 is my best game
a game such as red dead redeption has very bad graphics because it does not support high ress.. itis edgy
crackdown 2 was the second best looking game ihad
so unfortunetly it does matter what game you have
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
you guys are lucky my TV is 57 inches:D but it only supports 1080i and lower:( wtf?
RianTalks 1 year ago
I'm thinking of getting an HDMI cable for my 360. I've been using my component cable for like 2 or 3 years. I was wondering, will it make my dashboard look better when I'm playing on a 50 inch 1080p tv?
Achronos14 1 year ago
@Achronos14 yea the dash will will alot better
AIFRANCHISE1 1 year ago
your kidding me.... you've had a 50 inch 1080p tv and xbox 360 without using HDMI....you sir are incredibly stupid no offence
RianTalks 1 year ago
you know it's funny.
NathanRWAndrew 1 year ago
@NathanRWAndrew EVERY hdmi cable can carry a 1080p signal. No matter what type, or price. Maybe your tv can't handle 1080p/
crazyjorge2111 1 year ago
@crazyjorge2111 Actually I know mine can. It says so in the little blue box in the corner when I turn on the tv. When I go to the display settings on my 360 the 1080p isn't highlighted when I use my HDMI but it is when I use component.
NathanRWAndrew 1 year ago
@NathanRWAndrew maybe adjust the settings on your 360.

Plz help
FunnyVidsIllustrated 1 year ago
So is the hdmi cable better for xbox or the HD av cables? bcuz for my ps3 the hd av cables are a lot sharper and vivid.
TheRevolutionary465 1 year ago
@TheRevolutionary465 i personally prefer component cables to hdmi cables because the cables are heavier and less prone to wear and tear. they are going to give the same picture quality at 1080i or 720p, but you will need an expensive hdmi cable for 1080p. i do not own an xbox but this is from my experience working in the television field.
KingofComputing 1 year ago
@KingofComputing They are not all expensive. There are great, cheap hdmi cables at monoprice. That's where I got mine. Component can also handle 1080p but only if your tv will handle 1080p through component. You should know that if you work in the television field.
crazyjorge2111 1 year ago
@crazyjorge2111 well then that is new because the last i knew component would only carry up to 1080i thus why people use hdmi. if not, then why use it, i'd much rather use component cables then hdmi, the hdmi plug is flimsy. where i work we use component cables with bnc ends for all of our video transmission to and from the router from the mac pros to the head end.
KingofComputing 1 year ago
@KingofComputing oh, well I use hdmi just for the convenience of having audio + high def video on 1 cable.

HDMI cables really make a difderence, while playing the COD series, you can really pick people off at a distance.
Makes a tremendous difference and is dwffi ately worth the cost.

man i feel like a bitch saying this but, the wires that they give when u buy the xbox is the standard right? 720p? and the other cable u can get is the hdmi 1080i? so which is better? I might be getting a 360 and i want it HD. is 780HD? (i know i suck im 15 and im still pretty confused) so which one should i buy. reply me pls! >.<
jameschoi999 1 year ago
@jameschoi999 1080i has smaller pixles and better sharpness thus somewhat increasing depth perception, however you won't really notice it unless you spend hours each day gaming.

I just upgraded from standard to hdmi and there is a difference. Everything looked more sharper and smooth , it's worth getting

My friend told me that HDMI will pretty much only make a big change if u have a big TV, i put it in my 19 inch HD and it looked worse than the regular HD component, but i have a 32 inch that i will be open soon, would that affect greatly how the graphic looks on my 32?
hoang1428 1 year ago
@hoang1428 did you tweak any settings? usually HDMI has deeper contrast and if you don't change your settings to lighten it everything becomes almost two tone and too dark.

popo1755 1 year ago
you know whats fucked up?? that M$ didn't include a HDMI output on the 2007 Xbox 360 models so I'm basically stuck with HD component cables.. they should of had the HDMI output since the beginning those money hungry bastards ... But it really doesn't matter anymore since I only play on my PS3...fuck M$
elsenciillo 1 year ago
@elsenciillo
The HDMI can only output the same resolution as the component on the Xbox 360. It's true, not that big of a difference. The Xbox looks fine with component cables. The PS3 on the other hand contains settings that could be output with their HDMI cords. It's just typical Microsoft trying to milk money from customers.
SLEAZY808 1 year ago
@SLEAZY808 Well I didn't know that.. I thought there was a big difference between HD components and HDMI on the 360, but I guess I was wrong!!

RussianBeast93 1 year ago
um why do peopel say 720p and 1080p, the xbox cant go native 1080p or 720p, its more like 900p and 650p (yess there are such things as this for example ps3 can play 750p if run using some stupid mod so can some blueray players) but my xbox cant play true hd, i did the box pixle test it has gray along with black and white, it should only show sharp black and white lines
