to everyone, at the time this was posted it only had a mcx turbo with a complete performance water to air intercooler. this bike now has a arctic cat Z1 snowmobile engine in it. you can search Z1 rzr 1/4 mile and it will come up.
@gom9r that statement makes absolutly no sence!! you can turbo nearly anything you just have to have the correct size turbo, they turbo 2 and for stroke snowmobiles, arcticcat has a 600 4 stroke with a turbo, and people have put turbo's on 2 strokes as small as 600 and up to like 2000 sum cc this is eather a 850 or a 900,
@gom9r Turbo's are more efficient and create much more power than a supercharger. The only time a supercharger is better is if you want instant power with no lag while the turbo is spooling. In this case, the power seemed fairly instant, like a supercharger. However, you can still hear a little bit before he accelerates where he seems to be building rpm, or spooling.
@ironbloodus im pretty sure i do. All Im saying is that smaller displacement engines that run at high rpm can greatly benefit from a turbo. Pretty much any engine can benefit from forced induction, but turbos have their place. Engines that move lots of air can support a turbo as their form of forced induction, whereas something like a drag car that sees low rpm (I mean under 3000) as its powerband can use a supercharger...
@jmanwild You are wrong. Turbo's work awesome with high displacement, low RPM engines. Not a single mass produced diesel powered truck uses a supercharger, and they REDLINE at around 3-4k RPM. Turbo's are way more efficient than any supercharger on earth at ANY RPM. The only thing a turbo has an issue with is lag (which has NOTHING to do with efficiency BTW), which is easily remedied using various techniques to speed up that process. You know very, very little of what you're talking about.
@xilix I know the benifits of a turbo. Its less a lack of understanding as it is a lack of ability to explain myself. I work on large displacement turbo diesel engines for a living.
@xilix and @jmanwild - Turbo's work based on exhaust pushing a on blades, which spin other blades, which suck more air in... you both seem to know this, and both seem to understand this concept, and are both right in your own ways. Xilix makes the best and most obvious point... turbos work better on low rpm engines, hence the diesel trucks, and generators (my background). I've worked on engines that run 1500-1800 rpm for 10 years, and occasionally 1200, and even an 900 rpm generator.
@1nickadair But those low RPM engines are diesel, and put out a lot more exhaust than other vehicle style engines. Jman is right in the sense that he must have a small engine background, and there, a turbo sucks at low rpm (not useless, but not great) but at the high rpm (say 10-18k rpm) those small engines with small turbos work great... also turbos don't hog a lot of power from the engine like supercharger. I'd still bet that xilix knows more about what he's talking about.
@1nickadair lol thanks. seems like every douche on utube wants to tell someone how stupid they are. Im a heavy duty apprentice @ peterbilt, and Im learning lots. Have worked with diesels for quite some time, and do understand them.
A turbo would not give you the grunt right off the line. Look up some videos on how turbos work guys. =) (not saying it's not turbo, just correcting those who think that's why it can pull the tires off the ground from a dead stop)

Either way, your statement is incorrect.

@benk23 turbos are less effecient on low RPM engines, (Big blocks high Cubic Inches)
but great on high rpm engines, (sleds!!!)

Spec41173 4 months ago
@Spec41173 That completely depends on how big the turbo is. If its small enough there could be extremely little lag.
