I can't understand why anyone would think it's even a little bit funny to do this.

It wouldn't even be funny if they were to phone me at work or home, but to phone an emergency, life or death number where it's not just annoying but could cost someones life is ridiculous.

At the very least she could put the time and effort in to make her story funny and get her facts right. Grey Squirrels are not rare, and their main nutty treat isn't Hazelnuts but Acorns!
