  • giggle...neil has a rat tail! love you guys

  • RUSH Was Inspired By The Police As Shown In This Track And In Most Of The "Signals" Album

  • I love the old Montreal Expo's hat Neil is wearing

  • SO ORIGINAL!!!!!

  • To this day the mere mention of Le Studio gives me wood!

  • @keviinmach interesting...

  • when I have a bad day I just play RUSH all night long... I'm lonely :(

  • This must have been during Rush's "Police" phase. If I don't know better, I'd swear that Stewart Copeland was playing the drums.

  • @joemichaels1 yea i know what you mean!

  • @joemichaels1 ever occur to you that the police may just have had a rush phase??

  • @pegan1371 Yes! And the math--a subject in which every Rush fan excels--supports it. The Police's "Rush" phase started in 1977 (when the band was launched)--four years *before* Moving Pictures was released. But, I get your point: Rush is god.

  • So fucking awsome!!!!!!!! Best song ever!!! Long live RUSH!!!

  • New LE STUDIO YOUTUBE CHANNEL for Rush Fans - bringing you the tragedy of this iconic Canadian recording studio. The story is still being written on its fate. It's not dead yet! We've committed ourselves to following this place and keeping Rushians informed until it's final day of death, or resurrection to glory.

  • Which is the song about the crazy space Captain who wanted to fly his ship into a black-hole?

  • @vassephardi cygnus x-1

  • man just the lyrics by themselves are telling ahead of their time. Telling the interaction of man and computer and how man needs to cope with life amongst technology. Eeryone's gotta deviate from the norm, otherwise were just computational

  • Where did they get their information from before Google?!

  • @AClarke2007 Neil reads a lot???

  • Could they be any tighter.....This song ..AHH HELL ..All their songs are just a display of how tight a band could be when you have all the members in a band that carry their own weight!!!

  • @srphockey11 this ones funky live, too

  • @srphockey11 only other band that i have heard that was clsoe to being tight as Rush was the Moody Blues in their prime around 1972, although you really can't compare the two bands' music. But, the Moodys were an extremely tight band in concert, especially before Michael Pinder left after Octave

  • Neil seems rather bored @ 0:56 & 1:01

but this song still makes me wanna deviate from the norm!

  • lol neil's hat

  • @DrumDude2112 they're the nationals now bro

  • @DrumDude2112 expos? nationals now.

  • Geddy's real name is Gary, but It became Geddy cuz thats how his grandmother pronounced Gary

  • @doacarnage yep :)

  • Pure talent and musical genius brothers. Neil Peart is a god among men, and no one can play drums like him. Whatever happened to true Rock & Roll ? It's dead now, but at least we have our records, cassettes, and dvd's.

  • One of the greatest bands of all time. Moving pictures is an amazing album Vital Signs is my favorite off the album.

  • y is the name Vital Signs?? That was another Pakistani Pop band

  • @fiveyeareclipse Rush is the artist and this a video for their song "Vital Signs" of the 1981 album "Moving Pictures."

  • @crazyvinny54 hell yea saw them july 14 2008 they were REALLY awesome!

  • What a sh*t hot track.

Listen to these guys and you become a different person.

  • i listen to this playlist while building "hoopaloops"... rush is the ultimate ageless band... there are others, but are they still doing this? "about the function and the farm!"

  • "A tired mind becomes a shape shifter"

Sometimes even the pictures start moving!

  • rush rock'a

  • This song, this album, this band rocks, period!!!!!!

  • I remember listening to this when it was new, in my 1966 plymouth belvedere, it was jacked up with big mags and the sterio was awesome. " fact is as friction"

  • Rush in to know your reality paul

  • huh

  • when this record came out I was floored by how ahead of it's time it was. Like it's cover, a work of art...............timeless.

  • @ksmit man, cover sucked ass.

  • Well, this song was RELEASED in 81. It was written way before that and recorded a year before. The Police were only just starting to break and would not be a worldwide hit band for another year. I agree that this is NOT the greatest Rush song but you got your criticism way wrong. Now, go watch the video of them playing Xanadu back in the 70's and say your sorry.

  • Comment removed

  • i think they were just showing how dedicated they were to the art... creatively i can see what you were saying.. they probably need to grab each song/album with the same confidence to keep the fans/producer and perpetuated writing of deep cuts... wow, i hurt my brain ;) peace

  • Every time my teacher brought up vital signs in my clinical class I'd start singing this song. I love it.

  • trully in my view the greatest band ever. trmendous insight to the human mind

  • everybody gotta' deviate from the norm...

  • yep!

  • Alex zebra pants r sick

  • they are pretty cool!

  • Cool - one of my favorite Rush tunes - thanks for posting! :-)

  • :-)

  • YAHH!! Neil's wearing the Montreal Expo hat I have! WOOHOO!! RUSH FRICKEN RULES!!! :-D

  • "True That" LOL, go listen to eminem...

  • FUCKIN RITE GO CANADA

  • The three man power house from Canadia set the bar pretty high!!!

  • doesn't compare to avril lavigne.

  • Who the heck even think about comparing rush to avril lavigne? DAMN people got problems with their ears or what?

  • yeah there is no comparision....rush is more the michael bolton meets john denvers band

  • You don't want to compare RUSH to any other band as my mother says, "If you got nothing good to say then keep your mouth shut."

I have every RUSH album for a reason.

    There is no comparison.

  • LOL, yes Rush is still together... Still rocking and still the best

  • true that!

  • Rush rules, there is no one that even compares

  • fuck yeah!

  • I read a blog that compared Rush's Vital Signs to Supertramps Breakfast in America song. I don't hear it.

  • me neither to tell you the truth!

  • one of the best songs EVER on EVERY level

  • I really don't care what the song is about, I've come to the conclusion that what goes on in Neil's head us mortals can't fathom. Either way this is one of the greatest songs ever!

  • ha!

  • wicked, eh?

  • yeeeaaahh

  • LOVE THIS MOTHER FALKIN SONG sereusly to bad there not together i wana here this studio style.... i can only find it live wait is this live or studio with music video?

  • ITS A MIX OF BOTH SIR

  • They're still together!! "?"

  • you FAIL

  • First of all if you want the studio version get the Moving Pictures album it's the last song. Second of all they are still together they released Snakes And Arrows in 2007 I saw them in OKC last year and it was awesome still an incredible live band even in their mid 50's definitely the best.

  • Most people don't know what this song is about. If you ask me, it's about... love. About how confusing it is, about how no one knows exactly what it is or why it exists ("everybody got mixed feelings about the function and the form"), and how everyone has to "elevate from the norm", yet persistence is needed to make it work.

  • I always thought it was about non conformity, myself.

  • Hey Zakklamm; I believe you nailed it. That I think is exactly the idea the song is meant to convey.

  • i know rite!! they cannot lose @ this!!

with neil anyway and geddy AND alex

  • RUSH ROCKS UR SOCKS

  • Haha, Neil had a rat-tail.

  • somehow the whole album is even better than 2112.

  • songs* :$

  • this is one of Rush's best sons!!

  • songs, too!

  • why does geddy have bongos

  • Because he's just so damn awesome!

  • I have ben a RUSH fan for over 25 years now and this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I know RUSH has better or more known commercial songs in their reportiore but this has to remain a very clear standout. Long Live the Mighty RUSH!!!

  • I thought I was the only one that felt this song was the best rush´ song...

  • Great tune!!

  • It might sound crazy, but I LOVE Geddy's hair like that!

  • the mullet-y thing?

  • yep ^^ =D =D

  • ha!!

  • Well Done!

  • thanks man!

  • yeah its pretty rad

  • thanks

  • unreal...ty

  • Wow...I never knew this video actually existed...I love this song.

  • Did Geddy really record this song on an SM58?

  • one of the greatest songs... ever

  • Another great song from the best band ever.

  • hahahah with his Expos Cap

sooo nice , love rush man

and also Le Studio it's in Quebec , near of my city ( Blainville ) :) , it's in Morin-Heights

  • Fair enough.

  • Jeez, what a tool.

  • that was meant for marchilleparis

  • Marchilleparis, if you're dumb enough to use hits as an indication of talent than there's really nothing else to say. I'm sure Katie Perry has tons of views but I think most people are aware enough to know she's another pop fad. This band is fantastic live, Geddy was a great singer, Alex's solos meshed with the songs beautifully, and Neil is arguably the best drummer of all time. Y/T appeals to people who for the most part were born well after Rush was talked about.

  • I am actually 16 years old, I MUCH prefer Rush over ANYTHING this generation has to offer Not saying that everything from today is terrible RUSH just beats all of them.

RUSH has been my biggest influence as a bass player and a guitarist and as a lyricist.

The mystical melodys the beautiful syth, the pulsating drum beats the skillfull yet tasteful drum solos And the enticing lyrics

I am not argueing with you Blainesawarlock, I agree with you, but there are some Y/T teens who appriciate RUSH

  • Being 14 i used to say when i was 12 that i would never listen to the music my dad listened to...now i have my uncles bring Rush and other albums from the 80's so i can download them on my ipod and thats all i really listen too. my uncle just brought up like 3 rush albums and i have listened to them like 100 times each just an amazing band.

  • thank god im not the only teen into Rush

  • yeh i love rush but at skl everyone is like wtf is rush is tht like a type of drug and then i slap them :)

  • I guess you could call it that though

  • Hey I am Suprised too!

  • Awesome...in this video Neil looks like the guy who loads the vending machines in my office. The only thing is...I don't think that guy can play drums like Neil.

  • I think thats a safe bet, no one can play like Neil.

  • Amen brother :)

  • My response quota was up but I JUST HAD TO come Type In the scribble a say: RLMAO! That was grand. Forgotten911 also expressed it well.

  • a very good one! jas22! a killer group!

  • this is, to me, the best Rush album. this song rounds out a collection of great songs. even 'witch hunt' is interesting for what it lacks.

  • crappy vid, great song.

  • They were and still are so damn cool, what a bunch of real men! Clone them all and send them to my back door and I want them all at the age of 24!

  • hahaha! weird comment, but i getcha!

  • hell yes !

  • great wee song :)

  • haha! yeah!

  • This song is from Moving Pictures, not Grace under pressure

  • True.

  • Deviate, elevate, escalate..!

  • yup, awesome! ^.^

  • don't forget evelate

  • Of course, of coure.

  • neil avec sa casquette des expos :D malade

  • So i haerd this is coming for Rock Band DLC..

  • yeah the whole album is coming out!

  • wa?

  • MAXIMUM AWESOMENESS!!

  • MAXIMUM!!!!!!

  • MAXIMNUMNMNMNMNMNM!!!!!!!!!!

  • RUSH ARE HAWT

  • wat

  • he said "Rush are hot."

  • Yea but that's not right. They're cool.

  • Neil, the Expos suck, lollol!!!

  • Rush, my all time fav...in 1983, I was a young U.S. Marine in Japan. Had never heard of Mtv. Saw this vid in a bar called 8beat. I was blown away.

  • Awesome.

  • that is fucking awesome man, Rush can evoke the strongest passions we have for music, and the first time I heard my first Rush song, Tom Sawyer, I knew there was something special about this band. There is, the most incredible Prog Rock Trio ever, hell, the most impressive trio ever. And Neil, P.S. lyrics are stunning.

  • Cool story!

I would have been blown away as well, not knowing of Mtv in the first place.

  • My second favorite track on Moving Pictures, (Red Barchetta personal fave). I don't remember this on MTV in the 1980s. Nice studio video, nothing fancy. This is one of my 7 yr old daughter's favorite songs. Gotta start em early into the Rush!!

  • UBStrokin?

  • This used to be on MTV back in the early 80's.

  • A perfect closing track to a wonderful album (Moving Pictures)! 5 stars out of 5!!!

  • god I still love this song since 12yo
