Well, this song was RELEASED in 81. It was written way before that and recorded a year before. The Police were only just starting to break and would not be a worldwide hit band for another year. I agree that this is NOT the greatest Rush song but you got your criticism way wrong. Now, go watch the video of them playing Xanadu back in the 70's and say your sorry.

First of all if you want the studio version get the Moving Pictures album it's the last song. Second of all they are still together they released Snakes And Arrows in 2007 I saw them in OKC last year and it was awesome still an incredible live band even in their mid 50's definitely the best.

About how confusing it is, about how no one knows exactly what it is or why it exists ("everybody got mixed feelings about the function and the form"), and how everyone has to "elevate from the norm", yet persistence is needed to make it work.

Marchilleparis, if you're dumb enough to use hits as an indication of talent than there's really nothing else to say. I'm sure Katie Perry has tons of views but I think most people are aware enough to know she's another pop fad. This band is fantastic live, Geddy was a great singer, Alex's solos meshed with the songs beautifully, and Neil is arguably the best drummer of all time. Y/T appeals to people who for the most part were born well after Rush was talked about.
