I first saw this movie at the beginning of the year in Theatre Arts and was surprised to see that Steve Martin's role in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band wasn't his first role as antagonist. I love the song and almost instantly recognized Seymour as the guy from Ghostbusters. X3

The most impressive part of the puppeteering is the completely in-sync lip closures to the consonants and ends of words... It is amazing...

And also that they accomplished full shots of the plant due to the crew being slightly off set and controlling it from afar rather than beneath or behind.

@rlee1976 They actually had to film everything with the plant from this point in the movie onwards at half-speed because the puppet couldn't move fast enough to sync with the music and words. Then they sped up the footage later to get it to sync up. If another actor was on the screen at the same time, they had to act at half-speed as well to make it look right

Audrey II was operated by a load of people behind the scenes, using cables. With the size of Audrey II here, they could only move it so fast. All the shots of Audrey II talking or singing were filmed about 2 thirds of the speed, then sped up afterwards. When you see Audrey II and Seymour together in this scene, Rick Moranis is actually talking and moving very slowly! I think he did a pretty damn good job of making it look and sound natural!
