  • That would kind of kill the purpose of why someone would want to Open Source their software. If I was a developer and I wrote a game, I could either sell it, or release it to the public. I clearly know at that point in time that I can make a lot of money from that code, but I want to give it to the community, I want to give it to the community but I don't want any one individual to profit off a code that I could have made money with initially, I want the community to enjoy the code.

  • @FearedBliss It's kind of a selfish thing to do but at the same time it's not. Selfish because I don't want anyone else to make profit off of the code that I could have made profit with. But not selfish because even though I don't want anyone to profit off of my code, I decided to not make the profit, but in fact to actually donate it to the community so the community can learn, enjoy, and improve it for the rest of the community.
