How does this only have 123,795 views??? This song reminds me of very fond years I spent in Sydney and it is one of my favorite H&C songs (although there are many others too). I moved there from Dublin in 1990 with a friend and left in 93 with my wife to be. My kid will probably be sick of hearing the grand-old-day stories that I’ll tell him in years to come…. But that won’t stop me telling them. And I'll also be sure to let him hear the fantastic Oz music I heard while there.
I used to have a recording of this version (I love the knocking acoustic rhythm at the start) but can't seem to get it anywhere. Anyone know where I can download it?
@timmyfindlay keep me in the loop Timmy...it's a cool version and I would love to get it. I have the original 7" single from 1983 which was recorded live to 2-track digital in a rehearsal studio... pre-dates the album version that everyone touts as the original recording. If i ever get a record player again - i will digitise it for all to enjoy
@muckfundle I've got a CD on order from Amazon that is "Collected Works" [Import]. I seem to remember one of my brother's bringing it back to Australia from overseas and it had this version. Fingers crossed my memory will have served me correctly, but will certainly let you know.
@sexybabibi I just love your tribute to the song. Exactly how I feel about it too. Reminds me of my partner whom I will never meet again as he was killed.
it is by far the most popular version .. this is the tempo that they used when they did this song live. which i was able to purchase on itunes no prob. however trying to buy the recorded version is impossible!!!
someone sent me info on downloading from youtube so i could have this version but i haven't looked into it properly yet.
I love this slow version in addition to the original. Mark Seymour's voice is so distinctive, I've always loved Hunters & Collectors and nice to hear this again after too long! I'll be digging the vinyls out this week and listening all over. Thanks.
I still prefer the oringinal version, apparently, when recording it they ahd so many versions of it because they could not get it right, but its hard to go wrong with a great song. Rebekaterry, try this one, though I am touching on rock royalty here and may suffer a few rude words thrown my way, but I think Roxy Musics version of Jealous Guy is better then John Lennons
I still prefer the oringinal version, apparently, when recording it they ahd so many versions of it because they could not get it right, but its hard to go wrong with a great song.
I recall the original coming out around 1986, it was by far the better version, but I always say that the original is best (any song). Can anyone presuade me to change my views with a great example of where a cover is better than the original? (even by the same band?)
Nice to see that in the 2.5 years since I uploaded this video, that it has had over 63,000 views and 100 comments.
Good music is universal and transcends all man-made boundaries (though I bet most of the views/comments are from Aussies). I myself are from Canada and used to listen to this song a lot in high school.
Anyway Viva to Mark Seymour for adding 1 more song to the vast collection of fantastic memorable songs that exist for our human consumption!
@jiriji123 Thanks for letting us know. Too bad that CD is out of print ... although probably can get it on EBAY / private sellers for a ridiculous price..
@fankhauser99 It was actually released as a single in 1985, but was on their 1986 album. This version though, was recorded in 1990 for the release of their compilation album.
I lived in Perth for 6 years in the late eightiees, played in a few bands. The music around at that time was just the best, never equaled. Sitting here now in Chelmsford England, I look back and think, shit that was sooo good.
"If you disappear out of view you know I will never say goodbye and though I try to forget it you will make me call your name and I'll shout it to the blue summer sky"....this line says it all to the man I will always love no matter how long were apart!!!
THESE FUKKIN GAY ASSHOLES JUST DMCA'D ME. fukkin song is all over youtube.... i'll make sure and torrent all their shit right now so i never have to buy anything they ever make again. it was this exact version. be careful. they're nazis

Mate the original was initially quicker tempo but the band listened to the producer.Having heard H&C live before they took off I've gotta say grab this version video and all it's more in touch with the time.Failing that.Search for Seymour and annoy the fuck outta'him.Lol
@lawrenc1 This version is good, but H&C live were stunning. As far as covers of this song Paul McDerrmotts is the best I have heard. Sends shivers up my spine. I was in SA last year and made friends with lady who had lost her 20 year son the year before and I sent her the lyrics and link to Paul McDermotts version.
Many years ago, Aussie soap used this to back the sad death of one of its characters. Outside scenes are shot at Palm Beach in Sydney. Several years later, my family and I were in Sydney and we just pulled up at the site at Palm Beach where they film many scenes to that show. Then just at that moment, this song, this version came on the radio. Hell, was that spooky!!!
TehHatMan, if this is "crappy" then I would hate to have your friends! Break the mould, Start a trend, The eighties was a great decade, I lived through it all!
