@Blaize813 hey you just have to choose some compresser .. :) Click on Composition then Render Queue and then on the Lossless.Click on Video for Windows and Go to Windows Media After that go to File Options.Click Bitrate Settings and adjust to 5000 first bar and then second to 50.! YOu are ready :)

@sallysal1987 (to your other comment) check your comp settings. make sure your comp is actually long enough.

you have to RAM preview, not just hit the spacebar. also, hitting the period/decimal key on the keypad previews audio only

when you go to render, make sure audio output is checked in your output settings or it wont render your audio!

Go into a composition, and command+click (Mac) or control+click (Windows) the timecode to toggle it between a few different viewing options.

you can always find a tutorial on how to make gradients in photoshop, gimp (free), or different versions of after effects.

Also, try just google imaging a color spectrum

Go into your composition settings (ctrl/command K), by default it usually sets your timeline to 30 seconds.

You're probably trying to preview using the spacebar, that only previews video,

to preview both the video and the audio you have to ram preview (hit 0 on the number pad)

and one way to just listen to the audio is to hit the decimal/period key also on the number pad

Also by the way, keep an eye on the audio levels, After Effects often plays audio extremely loudly and that will end up clipping in the render.

Hey bro, great tutorial. I agree that to make the final product look good that you selected good frequencies to represent the start and end points, but you need to understand a few things about frequencies. 300Hz is not "treble" - that is like a subwoofer rattling cars in traffic kind of frequency. Human hearing and music ranges from 20Hz to just under 20,000 Hz. After Effects defaults to 2,000 at its highest point because high signals are weaker and won't get the spectrum moving very well.

I seem to be having confusing issues at those parts in general.. for instance, if I were to set it to "Color", what happens at 14:03 doesn't happen to me (I don't end up seeing it).

If you have the gradient/spectrum as a layer and set the transfermode to "color" you shouldn't have any problems really. Not sure what could be happening though, try different transfer modes, or try using just a photo/screenshot of a gradient/spectrum

Select the layer and click fill, then that message should come up where you can make a gradient.

It's also possible you're using a different version of after effects. Try looking up how to make a gradient in your version, or just search images.

Are you talking while editing in the program or when you render?

while editing playing with the space bar only plays frames you need to ram preview (hit 0 key on # pad) to preview just audio hit the . (period/decimal) key on the # pad.

by default AE's render settings have audio disabled, make sure you have both video and audio enabled.

No, you cannot do something like this in Sony Vegas.

Equalizer effects are for matching/changing the sound of an audio track. Often used to make a sound match it's environment.

makesure you have the work area set to what you want to render, or render the length of the comp instead of just the work area.

And in the audio waveform effect, make sure you select the right layer you want to use the audio from.
