  • now this is a real duel not a crazy slash hit and run... . as if your life is not endangered!

  • This is for all the fencers, not the SCA trolls, but when they hold their arms out fully extended, don't you feel the demand for a prise du fer, either a bind or transfer?

  • Moi j'aime bien... Je me vois bien contre certains baveux....

  • Was this duel to the touch? I saw none. How were honours evened?

  • @LaughatNAZIs

    Yes, Ribiere was touched twice.

  • The chap on the left was deliberately lowering his arm to tempt his opponent to attack the exposed fore & upper arm, but it is, of course, a trick & the chap on the right shd be well aware of the danger of a lowline stop hit if he attempts to suddenly move forward, on the attack. One can see some interesting tactical thinking in the style each man has chosen. I think as fencers they looked equally competent. I wonder who was judged the 'winner'?

  • 1967 Epeen Duel Deffere vs. Ribiere

  • real,but weak

  • @Patrikkky

No. real, but real. See, this is what happens when your life is really at stake when dueling. No crazy lunges in, flying at the opponents blade hoping to hit just a milli-second before you are hit as well. It is all about self preservation, not flashy shit you see in fencing today. And that is why nobody watches it anymore.

  • @jasonjmj Are you just mad because you're not good at fencing?

  • @xenadon

I'm mad because modern sport fencing is a bastardization of a once glorious and revered art form...

  • @xenadon

Another thing...if you were in an actual "duel" with a person, using sharp weapons and no mask and padded jacket, would you perform the manuevers of the modern fencing game?? No, of course not. Modern sport fencing has its place, I just like to distinguish it from classical and traditional fencing because they are two COMPLETELY different martial forms.

  • @jasonjmj Lol, fencing ain't about things that are flashy, it's about things that work. It's a sport, and usually people prefer winning over losing.

Pourquoi ricaner ? Ce n'est pas ridicule enfin!

  • c'est fou que de tels duels aient eus lieu il y a si peu de temps Oo

  • Merci pour la vidéo ;-)

  • wow. their actions don't suck. i didn't expect this from youtube.

Merveilleux!

    Merci pour cette belle vidéo!

  • Oh God... 1967? I can't believe it...
