I was luckey the core defender took out my 20 tick tanks 6 artillery had no air at the time and it destroyed my defenses but i still had power and so the rest of the base was invisable and it left looking for somthing else to destroy. now heres a helpful handful of tips & tricks 4 this mission....
by the Northern radar dish, when it is capsured... build helepads around it w/ Banchees; the CORE DEFENDER cannot be EM Pulsed, so no point in building 1 against it; When the CORE DEFENDER deploys.... CRANK out ARTILLERY, OBELISKS of LIGHTS; and make sure u have at least 2 Refinarys with 4 harvesters on every mission/skrimish, But this map, makes sure u have 30+ banchees 2 go against, the CORE DEFENDER!
I found a way to build this guy by using the firestrm rules ini. I edited it and in the final mission for both sides,I build about 30 of them and I killed everyone including CABAL'S Core Defender.
In my mod for Firestorm called "Tiberian Fury", the Core Defender is a heavily upgraded version dubbed "Omega". It's very slow, but it has extremely powerful lasers for AG and AA that can shoot at a longer range and a faster rate than the original lasers. It's also much harder to kill because of its better armor. (It's a skirmish mod, so both sides can build it at a cost of 100,000 credits.)
I play this song whenever he stomps onto the field... and on the enemy.
Though this song plays throughout the Firestorm Campaign ; when that Core Defender started to come online no matter what music was playing beforehand; the game immediately switched the music to this theme(GDI Campaign anyway; still need to do Nods) and for that reason I consider it the Core Defenders own theme; picture well chosen man :D
PS, I found out the best way to take down the core defender is to swarm it with rocket infantry... sounds stupid and cheap, but it's too busy shooting one at a time to do something about all the rockets after him. I'd say at least 50 will do the trick

You watch a superhero movie, and he defeats the villian all on his own... but you play Tiberian Sun and you have your entire army of no-names obliderated by Cabal and THEN you beat him, and it's fun as hell.

Move your Carryall with MCV through the map up and left from your initial base. Deploy MCV in upper right corner of firestorm wall. What we see? We can construct inside Cabal's Core courtyard. Build war factory inside, make 3 disruptors and destroy the Core.

They coded all the Nod buildings to have Crewed = No for cabal as well so light infantry didn't come out of the buildings/vehicles when destroyed. The only infantry he had were cyborgs and all the vehicles were deemed to be cybernetic.
1st time he destroyed me, so i trapped him on the island and gave him a nice present of about 100 bombers whilst Juggernauts were firing at him, then gave him a nice Ion Cannon blast
who knows, maybe the computer was smart enough to make it's own army like Yuri did, but i kinda answered that myself when i found the campaign videos for firestorm.

@stormdumb Yes, classic way of killing it are either using cloaked firestorm defense or unpowered laser fence, or luring it onto a bridge and bombing that.
First is lure to him to a bridge with a load of troops, then shoot and blow up the bridge whilst its on it and it gets fried in the water.
Or you can send in loads of infantry - I sent in about 300 infantry to use as cannon fodder - because it shoots targets in order of when they attacked, so whilst it was picking off all the infantry, I had loads of tanks, planes and artillery firing which finished it off just after it killed all the infantry!
@MPBuzza The use of the bridge is kinda cheap, although pretty effective...The Infatnry idea is a true C&C tactic. I bet it was pretty awesome watching that!
I had some AI glitches playin on Win7, so actually, AI of Cabal was building lika a tone of artillery, tanks, cyborgs, everything.. So dam hard. And then, when I took over the first array center, it said " mission accomplished ". Fak dude, i want to kill a robot. And then, i crushed him with a stealt tanks and infantry.. Best mission ever!
My first and last run through with this, I was playing Nod. took out fair chunks of Cabal's bases, then the firestorm turned off. That THING came at me and destroyed EVERYTHING, luckily I had sent a single driller with engineers straight to his core, took him over and sold his ass XD. Long Live Westwood.
Haha. oh the memories. First time I faced it, I had a massive amount of disruptors waiting for it before i shut down the firewall and my base was cloaked. The firewall came down and the Core Defender completely annihilated all of my forces and came for my base. Then it destroyed my obelisks when they fired at it. I tried using some of my aircraft but they barely did anything. Then I thought: EMP Cannon! I fired it but it had no effect!!! WTF! it was so epic and crazy
Core defender starts walkin south. "What the hell is that? guess my disruptors can take care of it." I sen them in and fail miserably. "Tough guy arent you? Lwt`s see how you like ion cannon!" *Fires ion cannon* "HAHAHAA- WTF!? Still 5 blocks of health!? Shit... Lets try bombers" 30 bombers bombard it. "Omg, only one block is gone!"
oh yeah. the final mission was so memorable. damn epic. first it's the difficulty of defeating his land forces and capturing those control posts, then it's the core defender. I just built a base on an island and sent my planes to cabal's core from that place while the core defender crushed my real base XD
EA realy fucked up the game by making it to easy gdi could just upgrade their planes and teleport behind aa guns in ts it was a diferent story and this guy was my favorit part he was a real challange compared to kanes wrath so called epic units
The Core defender should have had rapid fire anti-air obelisks, much like CABAL's Obelisk of Darkness but faster firing and more powerful and fires twice. He should also have been able to crush vehicles. Lastly, somewhat faster self-repair and an armor type that reduces damage taken further would also have been nice, not to mention a higher rate of fire, damage per shot and range. I want a harder challenge dangit
My tactic was rather simple, I just cloaked my entire base, built harpies and banshees, and sent them against the defender, cause he couldnt see my base, he just stand there at the entrance, and good thing he lacks AA defenses!
I remember the Core Defender stripping me down to a Juggernaut, a few Disc Throwers, and a mobile war factory with about 2,000 credits left.
My god, that battle was so hard. I remember targeting with an Ion Cannon and thinking "Oh, yeah, what are you going to do now, beeya- oh, wait, you're still standing? Well, my units can take care of- wait, you just destroyed my MKII in two shots?! Oh, crap."
Heh i was the exact same, hit it with the ion, did nothing, hoped my MMII would do the job and i expected some epic battle but it got owned and then a few minutes later so did my base.
This things easy to kill if you are expecting it, but on that first try i had no idea it was coming.... it was carnage lol
Yup, exactly it. I first got to the Defender as NOD, and it wasted a small Tick Tank attack force before moving on to annihilate my bases. The sudden change in music to *this* really finished the moment off for me - one of my biggest, baddest C&C defeats, but one of the greatest moments as well.
i remember how I first beat the core defender: sent a couple tick tanks at it to get it's attention, then sent a bunch of elite cadre to keep on shooting at it, the core defender tried to repeatedly stomp my elite cadres rather than zapping them, so they eventually emerged victorious.
I actually killed it on the first try... because i got lucky destroying a bridge he coincidentally was walking over. the second time i walked right at it with a big enough army of cyborgs (captured barracks) to fill up t5e entire screen. 3/4 of that army still got raped :O
"CABAL has some interesting looking units behind his Firestorm wall. No matter, my thirty Titans blew through his entire base in minutes, this should be a breeze. Man Firestorm has been almost too easy..."
"Excellent, Firestorm wall coming down in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... 'Activating defence protocal, Defender, now'?! What? A giant robot?!"
I was never quite fond of this theme, but I suppose that it was fitting when CABAL deployed his Core Defender (probably Tiberian Sun's equivalent to the Shogun Executioner from Red Alert 3). Seeing how much damage that thing could do to a single unit or building, and how much health that thing had, I had no choice but to churn out countless amounts of Rocket Soldiers (with some Hover MLRS units) and wear that monstrosity down through sheer numbers. That thing's weapon was overkill to infantry.
How much was "a while"? Hopefully before the Core Defender has time to reach your base and demolish it. Masses of infantry seem to be capable of stalling it for as long as you had the Tiberium to maintain the pressure.
Speaking of massing aircraft, on some occasions, I just ignored the Core Defender and bombed the hell out of CABAL's core with Orca Bombers or Banshees as soon as I destroyed the Power Plants that were powering CABAL's Firestorm Defense Array and Obelisks with superweapons.
when u do the last lvl on hard it is epic i louved that lvl i played over 16 hours on that lvl alone call me a noob if u want lol xD why did they have to ruin c and c just shows u nothing last forever :-(
When i saw that that sucker Transfomer, that morphed from that pile of junk, was a piece of texture , like a building, i said ,,holy mother mercy,, this some kinda of MFG (Monster Fuc.. Gun) - after that only my words were F... F... F... .
In the second save a lured that mother fuc.. to an island with a long line of titans and tick tanks . And Fuc..-bombed hell out of it with 60+ Banhees , 20+Bombers, Ion cannon, Cluster missiles, chemical missiles, ghost stalkers, by 200 caryall
brought 150+ titans and 100 titans in wawes, 5 destroyed Mk2. I thougt it was like in the old videogames where it was by design impossible to win. But after 10 milion credits spend on my army and 18 hours of work I finished him. It was my greatest victory in a CnC game to this time.
Haha, I got lucky; I had a limpet mine close to it that kept going in and out of stealth, so the bastard was just turning towards it to shoot it, and it stealthed. So it just kept going like that over and over, without moving or anything, while I bombarded it with GDI RPG turrets, Nod artillery and air units.
It was really hard and I had to use several tries to make it. It's why I love those older C&C games :)
I bombed the shit out of the robot since after playing online, I always kept a huge air force. I wonder whether the robot would walk across a firestorm column?
This song is Tiberian Sun's equivilent to Hell March. Go to the playlist, select the track and hit the repeat button. It's great music to kick ass to.
When I heard Defense protocols initiated i said "Oh yeah what is that little Skynet wannabe going to do to me that's going to stop me and my two mammoth tanks?" then I saw that little pile of junk that I thought was a scap yard turn into a godzilla sized killing machine and my response was "Well shit I didn't see that coming" and my army was blown to scrap. He got my main GDI and Nod bases and I had to send an Air strike to blow up the core.
Reminds me of the time EA enslaved WestWood.

my strategys to destroy the core defender are:
1)use 10 or 20 artilheries positioned in diferent areas (my main strategy)
2)a lot of tick tanks(all deployed).
3)MANY MANY MAANYYY aircrafts.
4)a combination of stealth generators and obelisks, artilhery and tick tanks.
5) in case of emergency throw everything i have at him(just for fun)
6)just for fun too, i suround the core with all kind of tanks and infantry(while the fire wall steel active), then i deactivate it

I found two ways to take him down easily.
First is lure to him to a bridge with a load of troops, then shoot and blow up the bridge whilst its on it and it gets fried in the water.
Or you can send in loads of infantry - I sent in about 300 infantry to use as cannon fodder - because it shoots targets in order of when they attacked, so whilst it was picking off all the infantry, I had loads of tanks, planes and artillery firing which finished it off just after it killed all the infantry!

I had some AI glitches playin on Win7, so actually, AI of Cabal was building lika a tone of artillery, tanks, cyborgs, everything.. So dam hard. And then, when I took over the first array center, it said " mission accomplished ". Fak dude, i want to kill a robot. And then, i crushed him with a stealt tanks and infantry.. Best mission ever!

My first and last run through with this, I was playing Nod. took out fair chunks of Cabal's bases, then the firestorm turned off. That THING came at me and destroyed EVERYTHING, luckily I had sent a single driller with engineers straight to his core, took him over and sold his ass XD. Long Live Westwood.

Haha. oh the memories. First time I faced it, I had a massive amount of disruptors waiting for it before i shut down the firewall and my base was cloaked. The firewall came down and the Core Defender completely annihilated all of my forces and came for my base. Then it destroyed my obelisks when they fired at it. I tried using some of my aircraft but they barely did anything. Then I thought: EMP Cannon! I fired it but it had no effect!!! WTF! it was so epic and crazy

Core defender starts walkin south. "What the hell is that? guess my disruptors can take care of it." I sen them in and fail miserably. "Tough guy arent you? Lwt`s see how you like ion cannon!" *Fires ion cannon* "HAHAHAA- WTF!? Still 5 blocks of health!? Shit... Lets try bombers" 30 bombers bombard it. "Omg, only one block is gone!"

oh yeah. the final mission was so memorable. damn epic. first it's the difficulty of defeating his land forces and capturing those control posts, then it's the core defender. I just built a base on an island and sent my planes to cabal's core from that place while the core defender crushed my real base XD
EA never could've made such an epic level.
Now I've played Generals, I'm sure of that

The Core defender should have had rapid fire anti-air obelisks, much like CABAL's Obelisk of Darkness but faster firing and more powerful and fires twice. He should also have been able to crush vehicles. Lastly, somewhat faster self-repair and an armor type that reduces damage taken further would also have been nice, not to mention a higher rate of fire, damage per shot and range. I want a harder challenge dangit

My tactic was rather simple, I just cloaked my entire base, built harpies and banshees, and sent them against the defender, cause he couldnt see my base, he just stand there at the entrance, and good thing he lacks AA defenses!

I remember the Core Defender stripping me down to a Juggernaut, a few Disc Throwers, and a mobile war factory with about 2,000 credits left.
My god, that battle was so hard. I remember targeting with an Ion Cannon and thinking "Oh, yeah, what are you going to do now, beeya- oh, wait, you're still standing? Well, my units can take care of- wait, you just destroyed my MKII in two shots?! Oh, crap."

Heh i was the exact same, hit it with the ion, did nothing, hoped my MMII would do the job and i expected some epic battle but it got owned and then a few minutes later so did my base.
This things easy to kill if you are expecting it, but on that first try i had no idea it was coming.... it was carnage lol

Yup, exactly it. I first got to the Defender as NOD, and it wasted a small Tick Tank attack force before moving on to annihilate my bases. The sudden change in music to *this* really finished the moment off for me - one of my biggest, baddest C&C defeats, but one of the greatest moments as well.

i remember how I first beat the core defender: sent a couple tick tanks at it to get it's attention, then sent a bunch of elite cadre to keep on shooting at it, the core defender tried to repeatedly stomp my elite cadres rather than zapping them, so they eventually emerged victorious.

I actually killed it on the first try... because i got lucky destroying a bridge he coincidentally was walking over. the second time i walked right at it with a big enough army of cyborgs (captured barracks) to fill up t5e entire screen. 3/4 of that army still got raped :O

I was never quite fond of this theme, but I suppose that it was fitting when CABAL deployed his Core Defender (probably Tiberian Sun's equivalent to the Shogun Executioner from Red Alert 3). Seeing how much damage that thing could do to a single unit or building, and how much health that thing had, I had no choice but to churn out countless amounts of Rocket Soldiers (with some Hover MLRS units) and wear that monstrosity down through sheer numbers. That thing's weapon was overkill to infantry.

How much was "a while"? Hopefully before the Core Defender has time to reach your base and demolish it. Masses of infantry seem to be capable of stalling it for as long as you had the Tiberium to maintain the pressure.
Speaking of massing aircraft, on some occasions, I just ignored the Core Defender and bombed the hell out of CABAL's core with Orca Bombers or Banshees as soon as I destroyed the Power Plants that were powering CABAL's Firestorm Defense Array and Obelisks with superweapons.

In the second save a lured that mother fuc.. to an island with a long line of titans and tick tanks . And Fuc..-bombed hell out of it with 60+ Banhees , 20+Bombers, Ion cannon, Cluster missiles, chemical missiles, ghost stalkers, by 200 caryall

brought 150+ titans and 100 titans in wawes, 5 destroyed Mk2. I thougt it was like in the old videogames where it was by design impossible to win. But after 10 milion credits spend on my army and 18 hours of work I finished him. It was my greatest victory in a CnC game to this time.

Haha, I got lucky; I had a limpet mine close to it that kept going in and out of stealth, so the bastard was just turning towards it to shoot it, and it stealthed. So it just kept going like that over and over, without moving or anything, while I bombarded it with GDI RPG turrets, Nod artillery and air units.
It was really hard and I had to use several tries to make it. It's why I love those older C&C games :)

When I heard Defense protocols initiated i said "Oh yeah what is that little Skynet wannabe going to do to me that's going to stop me and my two mammoth tanks?" then I saw that little pile of junk that I thought was a scap yard turn into a godzilla sized killing machine and my response was "Well shit I didn't see that coming" and my army was blown to scrap. He got my main GDI and Nod bases and I had to send an Air strike to blow up the core.
