  • Use mineral oil. I oil mine everyday. Also, if things are stupid from France, you obviously hate most wines and cheeses. France is amazing and a lot of great things come from them. Also, the carbon steel is famous for rusting if you don't oil it. The steel is very easy to sharpen. By the way, on amazon they are about $9. Check out Opinel No 13 videos....folding machete showing the quality of Opinel products. I understand you aren't very familiar with knives, but do you're research before you buy

  • I have owned a carbon steel Opinel 8 for over 15 years and I have no need for another backpacking knife. There are seasoned Canadian and Alaskan hunting guides who carry Opinels and nothing else. The carbon blade is easy to keep rust-free with basic maintenence, and it is easy to keep them wicked sharp. The locking mechanism, although unsophisticated, is simple and very sturdy -- sturdy enough for rough use. Take care of your Opinel, and you will never want a better knife.

  • go to a flee market, and get ya selfs a kitchen knife,.

thats the bests thing U can do,. LOL

  • Stick with the plastic knife you started the vid with or learn how to look after carbon steel blades. Knives are for cutting things not playing with.

  • just because you fucked up your opinel knife no need to slag opinel knifes off because the are great knifes

  • 3:17 sums up the video really...

  • Opinel, is one of the greatest folders on the market! Its cheap has great versatility, design, utility, and pretty much are a pure delight to hold in your hand.

I have an Opinel #7 Carbon as an EDC, and I have it able to shave moisture off a babboons ass.

  • Just reprofile the tip, sharpen the blade put a small amount of Olive Oil on it and stop trying to pry with a thin carbon bladed folder!

Next take some time to view some bushcraft carving, knife using techniques from our you tube community...

  • u do not no nothing really do u m8

  • Opinels i ment

  • Ooi els are almost the best knives in the world and of u dont like the carbone blade buy an inox blade

  • your an idiot

  • You bought the wrong knife, fork. This blade ain't for kids. Think before you judge.

  • blade rocks - guy sucks

  • if the knife is so bad , why do they sell 15 million a year ?

  • @HackerGuitarist I now know the knife is not bad, I just didnt knew how to treat it and I am thinking about buying a new one.

  • @vascurten Buy an Nº8 INOX and give me your Rusty and broken Tip Nº9, i´ll keep it gladly!

  • @HackerGuitarist

They sell so many because it is a well known knife, very popular in France because it is simple and easy to use, very good grip, safe thanks to the system that locks the blade.

It is well known that we must be careful with the blade. but it is usually very good ones. I have a n°7 (smallest than the one reviewed here) and I have it for almost 20 years without any scratchs. I even have no rust on it.

  • you're an ass! opinel is a huge brand among pocket knives, cheap, reliable, the ring-locking mechanism is brilliant, and so on....... this review is garbage

  • Good video.

It's a good knife for such a low price.

A tip for keeping a carbon blade is to massage it with your fingers to get your body's natural oil on it.

There's more oil beside your nose and behind your ears, too.

It's a romantic thing between a man and his carbon steel.

Now that you have a broken tip, you can file it down to a stronger point.

It's almost a good knife now.

  • hahah you are so funny keep that good work up :D

  • @ApolloGalactic you are right, I was never taught to care of nives or anithng about blades. I am not stupid, I just didn't know what to do.

  • you are so retarded, the way sou speak is and the way you talk is retarded. actually, I have this weird feeling that I would throw up if you dont shut up soon.

Now to the knife, I have a carbon blade and I take care of it, so please dont be retarded and oil the shit out of a carbon blade, next, dont stab shit with blade that thin and fragile, it is carbon steel so it is really hard but at the same time brittle. and the third, the locking mechanism is cheap but effective, so suck it up.

  • dude starting price with shipping is like 10 bucks. so you cant complain about it. you also cant complain about rust or the broken tip

its carbon so its gonna rust so just buy stainless and if your not smart enough to not stab into stuff that isnt meant to be stabbed.

also its not a auto or a assisted.

this is meant for like bushcraft.

if you want a assisted then get a gerber valatton or a gerber evo.

but you'd find some way to ruin it

  • You obviously don't know hoe to use and maintain a knife.. It is normal that a carbon blade gets rusty if it lacks maintains.. Opinel are good knives for their price

  • @EmanuelDuguay I guess you are right, I was wanting a really great knife for that low price and in the wrong tool.

  • Hey h added me as a friend about a year ago but I just started watching all your videos they are fuckin awsome keep up the good work

If u don't mind me asking where r u from

  • @gorillazfan4192 I am from portugal
