  • I have a yugo sks I love it

  • To get more power out of the SKS 7.62X39, you can close the gas piston and the bolt won't move back. You'll get all the gas out trough the barrel. This is better for sniping.

  • i love my s.k.s. , not a a.k. but hay who cares it will shoot and keep on shooting all day long . ......... plus the ammo is cheap , and in my opinion more accurate , yes i said it . don't get all huffy , longer barrel , stiffer design , longer sight picture and cheap to buy in the way of $ lots of s.k.s."s to choose from .

  • Weapon of choice in Zombie apocalyse!

  • Am I the only one who thinks the top two comments are set ups?? One is a plug for the product and the other relates the round used with the famous AK-47. But still i'd probably buy one... the company sells them on their site for 14.99 <<<< Haha plug, good night everybody.

  • That gun looks heavy.................I like it.

  • Where can I find that Camo Tapco T6 stock???

  • Was it difficult to remove the Grenade Launcher?

  • @mossy500camo it's a hit or miss in removing them. there's one pin on it, once you remove that you'll find out yourself. i know some guys who could take them off no problem, as for me i used the un-orthodox method of two pipe wrenches with rubber wrapped around the barrel and brake to protect it... and that even took some muscle.

  • how would this compared to an m14 ebr?

  • @sam9116

there is NO comparison........M14 is many notches above an sks. Not looking down on the sks though.

  • @ramtron1775 M14 rounds are HUGH compared to the SKS, unless ur talking the Mini 14, full size M14 shoots 30-06 semi auto, I want one so bad, I have an SKS but not an M14

  • @DystruktoBoi1 The M14 does not shoot the 30 06 lol. That has got to be the dumbest thing ever said abou the m14. It shoots the 308 round. The 30 06 is a much bigger case.

  • @whosthere1 Yea ur right I was thinking of the BAR, and either way a .308 is still much bigger then an SKS round.

  • @DystruktoBoi1 O yeah, the 308 is a much bigger round. The 7.62x39 the SKS shoots is intermediate. The 7.62.51 that is the 308 of the M14 is a much bigger animal. That being said, inside 150-200 yards, the differences are minimal. What the x51 has is additional powder for more range. I am not saying the 308 and x39 are the same inside 200 lol, just within that range they both are effective man killers. 7.62x51 can reach out and touch 1000 meters.

  • i feel sorry for yanks most of my rifles have supressors which i made myself perfectly legal here in new zealand and they have a built in muzzle breaks and extend the length of the barrel a 7.62 sounds like a 22 super sonic round and they shoot better with one on.

  • Does anyone know of another company that is making muzzle breaks for the SKS? I'm sure I've seen better performing ones, just not sure who the manufacturer is. Any ideas?

  • Where did you get the tapco camo stock from? Looking to modernize mine for the range and deer hunting. Does the muzzle brake make a noticeable difference in accuracy?

  • is that a tapco 20rnd magazine?

  • Will this work with a Russian sks?

  • thats dosent look like a breack i think its the gernadelunher on the yugo sks

  • Man, everyone has that habit of firing slowly then going faster and faster. Starting to piss me off now. lol.

  • what kinda bitch puts a muzzle break on that gun, i have one....the recoil is nothing

  • It's not that people can't handle the recoil, its purpose is to not throw the barrel off it's original aim as much, so the next shot is more accurate than it would be without it.

And by the way, Yugos come with a muzzle break.

  • +1 on tapco's, Although i have a steel 30rd that ive put 500+ rounds without and feeding issues, just gota get lucky.

  • Love the SKS where did you get the Camo stock as I have looked at Tapco ect can't seen to find one. Thanks John

  • They stopped selling them a while ago.

they used to have the special edition t6 stock in stores but now you cant find the things anywhere that i know of.

  • .30 Russ Short is about like a 30/30. Wolf even has a ca. 150-gr load, identical to

16" 30/30 spec. Nothing wrong with a 10-shot (20 w/ RedStar integral mag) semiauto 30/30! The steel 30-rounder I bought in '99 works fine, but it's bulky, & no prone.

  • I have a muzzle break on mine, i think it shoots better with it, plus the 7.62 round is more powerful than the 5.56...it will tear its way through anything. It also needs less maintenance and its built tough as shit. Not great on accuracy in long range but awesome when cutting the pie or putting down suppressive fire. Concrete wall? No problem! Car in the way? No problem! Body armor? No problem! Its an over all great weapon.

  • i agree 7.62 is a hard hittin round i have a ak 47 and it will punch through just about anything ...

  • @DukeMontana Yeah under 150 yards free standing, anything after that and your fucked. I own one and I still wont try to lube it up into something its not.

  • @DukeMontana Yea and this is all with a bullet with half the power of a mosin nagants round. Imagine what that round can do.

  • I don't really think SKS's kick that much that they would need a muzzle brake, maybe a M14 would might need it but certainly not a SKS.

  • muzzel brakes come in handy when you're blowing of 30 rounds in a row. its easier to keep your sight aligned

  • Personally I think a muzzle break on an SKS is kind of pointless.

  • My "stock" unissued Yugo SKS w/10 rd internal mag rocks. I'd rather have it in a fight than my "pimped-out" Yugo SKS w/detachable mags. My "pimped "SKS" seems to jam w/deta

  • sorry, anyway...

The detachable mags jam like crazy! I love this gun, but it wouldn't be my 1st grab from my gun safe.

    Any suggestions SKS pros?

  • The SKS isn't the greatest gun for any situation

but its a good gun for all situations

when it comes to using detachable mags, if the magazine is good your sks won't jam if its shit then it will. Shitty mags make any weapon jam.

  • Did you try the Tapco 20rd mags? I had a Promag one and it was garbage, and it was supposed to be one of the "new and improved" ones. It was useless. Well, it did have one, it was a good target! Out of 1800 rds I had about 3 jams that were because of the mag. Most, because the ammo wasn't loaded properly. Get the tapcos.

  • the metal detachable mags suck but believe it or not the polymer ones work great you just got to let them set fully loaded overnight

  • try Tapco SKS mags yet?

  • tapco mags are the greatest ever!!

  • whats the point of a muzzle brake on an sks

its not like the kick is extreme

  • it's to help with the muzzle climb so you get your sight picture back faster for a follow up shot

  • i understand that, but ive never had a problem putting all ten rounds where i want them to be

follow up shot, hmm, seems more important in a handgun than an sks

  • i'm about to throw away a pro mag I bought...talk about a headache making mods. just ordered a tapco with the t6 stock so i'm pumped for that :)

  • the aftermarket mags I used had a hook type hinge at the top front and if that piece was not inserted correctly the mag would not lock in place. At night reloading was impossible without a light and quick reloads were almost impossible, I am glad to hear you like TAPCO

  • I like the SKS, only downfall is the aftermarket mags will get you killed during a mag exchange in a firefight.

  • Comment removed

  • true aftermarket mags suck, I thought I had a firing pin issue but turned out to be the mag from cabelas, I kept looking at every thing else, then one day it fired perfectly 45 rounds wtf went shootin today and jam jam jam ,wtf tried my other clip boom boom boom, Im not sure what brand it is but it says usa magazines on the side

  • From the stories that my father told of encountering the SKS and AK in Viet Nam it is VERY capable of hitting targets past the 800m range with precision. In the units he was working with, some of Americans would use these rifles due to their ruggedness/reliability and there is a distinct difference in report [to confuse the enemy].

  • wow, that's pretty impressive. Not many rifles are capable of hitting anything past 800m with precision. Do you know if he's talking about specially fitted rifles, and/or in the hands of expert marksmen?

For that matter, are we talking about "hitting with precision" as in guaranteed 1MOA, or as in "aim at a guy 800m away, and you'll hit him within 10 or 20 rounds"?

  • That's pretty cool. I have a Norinco SKS and have been debating on whether or not to leave the wooden stock on or to get a synthetic aftermarket stock for it. I paid $200 for mine, which is a little less than the going rate nowadays. I wish I would've been paying attention when you could pick up a surplus SKS anywhere for $79.

  • Wow. Where do you live? I live in Chicago, and shopping around at six gun stores the lowest we could get was 370 for very good condition with muzzle brake.

As for the synthetic stock, if I were you I'd leave it alone. Part of what makes an SKS an SKS is how rugged they are. I feel all that tactical shit takes away from that.

  • You know what I don't understand? Why the range on the SKS is marked for 400 yards, and there are people who claim the AK-47, and its varients can shoot 1000 yards. The barrel is shorter on the AK, how is that mathematically possible?

My SKS is an all purpose rifle - deer, coyote, depending on the breed - even rabbit, and it leaves more meat then a 20 guage. But I love it.

  • The barrel length doesn't really have a whole heck of a lot to do with range. You get a LITTLE bit of extra velocity with a longer barrel, but GENERALLY speaking, the primary benefit of a longer barrel is a longer sight radius. From what I've seen, the SKS isn't reasonably accurate past about 200-300 yards, for the most part. AK, same deal. But the 7.62x39 round is CAPABLE of going 1000yds, I have no doubt.

  • oh,smooth!

  • I have an SKS, and what I can see, I can hit either open iron sights or scope. Its very practical for hunting, the bullets lodge in trees real well, unlike a 30-06/308, and it has more stopping power then an M16/M4, and you can hunt pretty much anything with it- but I don't know if I would go toe to toe with a black bear or grizzly. Although I would be interested in seeing some footage of someone shooting one with an sKS.

  • If you have a yugo you can just drill 4 holes on the top, bottom, and both sides of the grenade launcher and you have a muzzle break.

  • that wont do shit the grenade launcher has a bigger hole than the barrel

  • It does a little, the best thing to do is get a 'real' muzzle break.

  • it just throws smoke everywhere....not very good if one wishes to conceal themself,in hunting or a firefight.....

  • Wait a minute! Isn't the SKS still better know for shoveling dirt than shooting! How could a gun that bad be so cool!

  • Sks's are one of the best asualt rifels ever made, before you go talking crap about them go shhot one or get your facts straight.

  • oh grow some balls and learn how to spell.

  • I own a modded SKS and it is a good time.

Side note: For fuck's sake, learn how to spell.

  • @DumpTruckX He needs one of our BLSS-200SKS systems. Go full auto!

  • an SKS is not an assault rifle, its a battle rifle ....

    your silly.

thats like saying an M1 grand is an assault rifle =o

    lawlz

  • Well, it's HALF-right... the SKS is semi-auto, so it's not an assault rifle either!

  • If it accepts a magazine its an assualt rifle, If it doesn't its not. There are diffrent types of the SKS. Bascially one takes mags, the others are fixed hinged mag.

  • Incorrect. An assault rifle is one which is of moderate length, and fires a moderate-powered cartridge (like the 7.62x39 or the 5.56x45), AND is full-auto capable. The SKS-Ds or Ms or whatever it was that China modded to accept AK magazines were not, to the best of my knowledge, also modded to be select-fire. Thus, not assault rifles.

  • So what your saying is I could take my SKS with a 30 round magazine to NY and they would not consider it an assualt rifle by definition?

  • Sorry, man. I'm talking about reality, not politics. They'll consider it a lot of things in New York. Doesn't change what is.

  • It does when they arrest you.

I don't think the term "assualt rifle" should be used but it is and it's what it is. Assualt rifles never assualted anybody, only people.

  • I get what you're saying, but I have to differ. I'm not willing to give in so easily. I'm not going to legitimize and validate what those propoganda-spewing hoplophobes want everyone to think by playing along. Besides, I've gotten to explain the difference between a military assault weapon and a stylistically similar "so-called assault weapon" a few times by using that term instead. Gun-banners thrive on ignorance and lies. Education is our friend.

  • SKS is more accurate than a AK-47.

  • sweet fancy moses!

  • Would be interested in what kind of scope and scope mount you are using, thank you.

  • its just a tapco mount for the sks. check out their website

  • i have a question for you tapco guys, ok well i have a chinese sks and it has a spike on it not a blade, will it fit with any of the stocks you have available? thanks.

  • just look for the stock the says spike bayonet cutout

  • WOOO YUGO'S RULE!!

  • I have a tapco Muzzle and shot with it last week and it did a better job at hiding the flash then that.

  • Does your brake make the rifle a whole lot louder ?

  • Nice. You should try an VMG TACTICAL (SKS) Vertical Magazine Grip on that rifle. I can send you one if you are interested.

  • Send me some info. I might like one.

  • Holy shit, that muzzle brake is intense. Was it the temperature or what that was doing that? I never see that much smoke.

  • Actually, the bayo makes a good monopod in the prone position. :)

  • lmao, I never thought of that.... I was going to buy a bipod that mounts on the bayonet lug... but now that I think of it, the bayonet would work just fine in the dirt or on a wooden table, etc. Awesome!

  • Nice yugo u got there. I see you took off the bayonet just as i did. I guess it dose make the front of the gun a tab bit lighter. Well the more you can keep it steady,The more accurate you are. Think you can out shoot me lol? Take care and have fun with that
