Both the original and remake are terrific. Very different films. One doesn't have to be "better" than the other when they're so different in tone and treatment. The remake had the benefit of having Angela Bettis and Patricia Clarkson as Carrie and Margaret, who were both excellent. Without them, it wouldn't have had the same anchorage. Spacek and Laurie's performances were perfect for the original film and that style. People just close-mindedly bashing the remake is just stupid and ignorant.
The 1976 version may be more of a classic and Sissy Spacek was more memorable with her role as Carrie but the remake follows the book more and has Carrie live at the end.
@ThatMrBerd the character was more powerful than the book which makes the 1976 movie very watered down. I like how the remake somewhat covers the book more closely then again they had a little more to work with vs. the 1976 version. Suttle difference vs just leveling the high school and then just leveling the entire town. I connect more with the book with the remake a close second and just look back to the 1976 version as eye candy (gotta love the nude locker room scene:).

1976 if one of my favourite (if not the favourite movie) movies ever, but the 2002 got a lot of potential in it. They could have went all High School Musical on us, but they didn't. It was a good movie, until the end, wich was a huge dissapointment. But that figures becouse it was supposed to be a pilot movie to a tv series, wich never started. Thank god, there's no way that would have worked. I wish I could do a long in-depth comparison but youtube comments have such limits...

The 2002 version is better. I know that the 2002 version followed the book a little more but it didn't end like in the book, neither did the 1976 version. Carrie's physical appearance is not accurate in either movie. Carrie is supposed to be a little fat and has some acne blemishes. She's pretty much a plain looking girl, but in the movies, the actresses are fairly attractive. Also, Sue Snell was supposed to have had her first period at the end of the story and developed psychic powers.
You are not correct about Sue. Though she did have her period at the end of the story, it was not her first one. Some people even speculate that what she had was a miscarriage, since earlier in the book she worried that she might be pregnant by Tommy Ross.
As to what you said about Sue developing psychic powers, I have no idea where you would have gotten that idea.
because ahe was able to read Carrie's mind while Carrie was dying and she was able to see through her eyes. at some point in the story, it is mentioned that girls who have the tendency to be psychic develop their powers after they start their first period.
The reading of Carrie's mind and seeing her memories was the work of Carrie's powers, and had nothing to do with Sue. Carrie also read Sue's mind, which is where she learned that Sue was maybe her only classmate who didn't hate Carrie. Pity for her, yes, disgust for her, yes, but no hate for Carrie. The book was specific about that.
As to the connection between psychic girls and their periods, Carrie had powers even when she was a child; remember how she called down the rocks?
In the book, Carries does not die because of her mother. She dies because her heart exploded after making Chris Hargenson's car explode. Sue Snell finds Carrie lying down on the road and she was able to see through Carrie's eyes. What she sees is that the world is getting dark as Carrie slips away. After Carrie dies, Sue leaves mortified. She then looks down at her pants and she sees that she's bleeding and she screams.

These agents mention that when girls with this gene start their first period, they develop psychic powers. These agents plan to terminate these girls in case they develop dangerous abilities. That's one of the resons why Sue leaves town. She developed psychic abilites and she wanted to leave before the agents could run DNA tests on her.

The 2 things I wish they would have also included in the 2002 remake that were in the book were 1. at the end where Sue Snell is standing over Carrie and she has her period in her pants and 2. when Carrie's mom stabs her with a butcher knife and it's in her back for the rest of the ook until she dies....but that would have made it hard for her to live and run off to Florida, which I love as an ending to the 2002 version.
Of course the 1976 version is better, but I still think that Angela Bettis did a very good job! Carrie 2002 was much closer to the book. In the book, Carrie did not kill her mother with knives, and also Carrie destroyed her whole community while walking back from the prom. This was presented in the 2002 version.

The origanl will always be prefered by the majority of people because it is the origanl and it was so scary and the re-make was closer to the book and Carrie was creepier. I could see the girl from the re-make being an out cast but Sissy from the origanl didn't

Though I like the girl who played Sue better in 2002 more than the 1976 version. Billy looked alot creepier in the 2002 version, and I think Carrie looked too old in 2002 rather than she actually looked like a highschooler in 1976 version.

Carrie 2002 was better, it followed the Stephen King book,thou the first one was good and scary, exspecially the last scene where Carrie's hand comes up out of the grave, very scary stuff!!!!!!!

The 2002 version is better. I know that the 2002 version followed the book a little more but it didn't end like in the book, neither did the 1976 version. Carrie's physical appearance is not accurate in either movie. Carrie is supposed to be a little fat and has some acne blemishes. She's pretty much a plain looking girl, but in the movies, the actresses are fairly attractive. Also, Sue Snell was supposed to have had her first period at the end of the story and developed psychic powers.

You are not correct about Sue. Though she did have her period at the end of the story, it was not her first one. Some people even speculate that what she had was a miscarriage, since earlier in the book she worried that she might be pregnant by Tommy Ross.
As to what you said about Sue developing psychic powers, I have no idea where you would have gotten that idea.

because ahe was able to read Carrie's mind while Carrie was dying and she was able to see through her eyes. at some point in the story, it is mentioned that girls who have the tendency to be psychic develop their powers after they start their first period.

The reading of Carrie's mind and seeing her memories was the work of Carrie's powers, and had nothing to do with Sue. Carrie also read Sue's mind, which is where she learned that Sue was maybe her only classmate who didn't hate Carrie. Pity for her, yes, disgust for her, yes, but no hate for Carrie. The book was specific about that.
As to the connection between psychic girls and their periods, Carrie had powers even when she was a child; remember how she called down the rocks?

In the book, Carries does not die because of her mother. She dies because her heart exploded after making Chris Hargenson's car explode. Sue Snell finds Carrie lying down on the road and she was able to see through Carrie's eyes. What she sees is that the world is getting dark as Carrie slips away. After Carrie dies, Sue leaves mortified. She then looks down at her pants and she sees that she's bleeding and she screams.

yea but if carries heart exploded, she wouldve died instantly. on wikipedia, it says that her mom stabbed her in the shoulder, she killed her mom, and carrie collapses in a parking lot fatally wounded. then sue goes to her and allows carrie to go through her mind and carrie learns that sue didnt hate her. then carrie dies. i never actually read the book.

no she didnt carrie and her mom die in the house after carrie collapses it on them then in a dream sue goes to the lot where the house was which is now just rubble and as she lays some flowers on carries grave carries hand reaches up and tries to pull her down there was no parking lot

Later on, there are these people, from some sort of government agency, investigating the town to search for girls who have the psychic gene. These agents mention that when girls with this gene start their first period, they develop psychic powers. These agents plan to terminate these girls in case they develop dangerous abilities. That's one of the resons why Sue leaves town. She developed psychic abilites and she wanted to leave before the agents could run DNA tests on her.

the remake got most of the movie from the novel then the orginal EX: police intergratons,
scenes of her as a little girl with her mom and neighbor getting into arguement,
her causing havoic all round the town, but it did look like a made for tv movie. I liked the remake better

I think Carrie 2002 was better. Of course the 1976 one was good, but in 2002 they used more special effects. That was like wow like the scene with the car look at 1976 and 2002 and you tell me which was better.

The 2 things I wish they would have also included in the 2002 remake that were in the book were 1. at the end where Sue Snell is standing over Carrie and she has her period in her pants and 2. when Carrie's mom stabs her with a butcher knife and it's in her back for the rest of the ook until she dies....but that would have made it hard for her to live and run off to Florida, which I love as an ending to the 2002 version.

Of course the 1976 version is better, but I still think that Angela Bettis did a very good job! Carrie 2002 was much closer to the book. In the book, Carrie did not kill her mother with knives, and also Carrie destroyed her whole community while walking back from the prom. This was presented in the 2002 version.

Both movies were good in there own ways. The origanl will always be prefered by the majority of people because it is the origanl and it was so scary and the re-make was closer to the book and Carrie was creepier. I could see the girl from the re-make being an out cast but Sissy from the origanl didn't

I thought both of them were good, though the ending of the 2002 was messed up because the people who didn't die were supposed to. Though I like the girl who played Sue better in 2002 more than the 1976 version. Billy looked alot creepier in the 2002 version, and I think Carrie looked too old in 2002 rather than she actually looked like a highschooler in 1976 version.
