Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny (Commodore 64/128 intro)

Don't want to spoil the party but I will anyway. I think Amiga Ultima 5 is the best version, it has just one song and is very annoying to play from floppies though. But it's the best song and well you can somehow get it HDD installed. On C64 the older Ultimas are very good though.

I have also setup Ultima 4 and 5 on PC with upgraded music (With all the music from various ports) but the arrangements aren't quite perfected so Amiga U5 is still musically my favorite.

I didn't remember the C64 version of Ultima V not having music -- but then I did talk my spouse into springing for a C128 back in the day (might have been for the sake of this game, even!).

I so miss the fantastic SID chip music for the Ultima series! I remember one of the last things we used a C64 (or it could have been the C128) for was so I could listen to the Ultima III, IV & V music while I ironed my spouse's shirts in the basement on Sunday nights. Combined scores were just long enough.

@DOSBoxMom Years ago, surfing around the net, I found a bunch of MP3 files where folks had updated the Ultima music with more realistic instrumentation -- I still listen to them sometimes while I work, etc.!

The new Commodore 64 will be able to play .this game! I think the new C=64 is coming out in mid May and will have built-in emulation.

Too bad this video didn't show any actual game-play. I used to play Ultima V on my C128 all of the time, but I never beat the game.

@adric22 Oh, folks had already posted lots of videos of the game play, so I just wanted to capture the title sequences in 480p here. I used to leave these running in the background while I did other things, just to listen to the music... :)

@Mecandes - I used to do the same. Actually, I still do since I have a SID player on my iPhone and I still listen to the Ultima V music on it.

Holy crap! I never knew the Commodore 128 had an Ultima game. I just used the 128 for GEOS and CP/M work.

@ImoenOfTelengard Both the Commodore 64 and 128 used the same game disks -- but you needed to be running in native Commodore 128 mode to hear music in the game. The game was otherwise identical (though the Commodore 128 may have had faster loading times). They must have thought the Commodore 128 was generally going to replace the Commodore 64 at the time, eh?

As for the music, I always liked Ultima V the best. Especially the fight music. Ultima IV was good too, though. I imagine most C64 users never heard the music since it was 128 only.

Crap what happened to the glorious music from IV to V??? Just horrible.

Umm, the story changed, as did the landscape. As good as the music from 4 was, it wouldn't of fit in this story.
