@strangerberry As a diabetic myself, you are unable to respond to anything once your bloodsugar level reaches about 30. It is true he should not have been driving when in hypoglycemia, but it is clear the police should not have reacted this violently to someone who was clearly not responsive.

Most diabetics are able to control there insulin levels, but it is not 100% controllable. How dare you sit there and pretend you are the judge and jury of this case and find him guilty. @SnapDaddy5998 Most people know there insulin is getting low.. There are some that a drop in there Blood Glucose Level comes on so rapidly that they go from fine to bad at the drop of a hat. I have seen it numerous times. Yes if he hit one of my family members I would be devastated but unless someone can prove to me that he was intentionally neglecting his insulin and not properly monitoring himself. It isn't anymore his fault then having a tree fall on your car driving down the road.

@jaynct These cops responded appropriately no matter what anyone says. At the time these cops utilized the information they had about the situation they were in. Police are trained in law and safety inforcement. Even as an EMT you cannot and would not immediately be able to tell what this guys problem was. I work in a correctional facilitly and our certified nursing and health care staff have no way of telling what some nut job may or may not be on.

I'm and EMT-Intermediate in NH and sometimes it is very difficult to tell the difference between Hypoglycemia and ETOH, unless you have a glucometer on you, which the police do not carry with them, also depending on what type of diabetic you are, in order for your blood sugar to get down to 20 you either had to A) not eaten anything that day, where you should have known better or B) over medicate your insulin. Yes the officers could have handled it differently, but put yourself in their shoes...

@tmattzz The 6th Amendment does not apply in this case as there is no criminal proceedings taking place. The 4th Amendment also covers a grey area in this case because police have probable cause to arrest the driver and search his vehicle. Applying the 8th is a stretch as it applies to sentencing, not pre-trial conduct, thats handled more under police brutality laws, the 8th truly applies after trial when facing jail time (e.g. receiving the death penalty for petty larceny).

Thanks to these Troopers and Officers other innocent people weren't harmed or killed. These guys did a VERY good job and, from what I can see, well within their scope of authority. Very professionally handled.

Sorry, no sympathy. How were the cops supposed to know you were in a diabetic episode? Mental telepathy? You did not respond to them by pulling over. You did not respond to them when they were calling at you in the front seat. It also looks as if the door was locked. A vehicle as big as yours is a lethal weapon, more so with you behind the wheel. I have seen it numerous times. Yes if he hit one of my family members I would be devastated but unless someone can prove to me that he was intentionally neglecting his insulin and not properly monitoring himself. @jaynct These cops responded appropriately no matter what anyone says. At the time these cops utilized the information they had about the situation they were in. Police are trained in law and safety inforcement. Even as an EMT you cannot and would not immediately be able to tell what this guys problem was. I work in a correctional facilitly and our certified nursing and health care staff have no way of telling what some nut job may or may not be on.

@jaynct You are rite he wasn't resisting when they approached the vehicle he started that way back when he first got on the interstate. He didn't unlock his door did he? Thats resisting. He wouldn't listen to a lawful direction from an officer. You can't deny it. He was in the wrong. He neglected to take care of himself. He brought this on himself.

I could have gone either direction on this except for 0:40 to 0:45 the cop is plainlt trying to twist the arm of a man that seems too totally out of it to resist. Sick, injured, drunk or stoned non-functional is still non-functional and that means unable to resist.

they had to hit the window 7 times and drag you out of the car. i do believe that would qualify as resisting arrest. also if your blood sugar was really that low you would have known it because of the effects it would've had on you and you would have known that you should not be operating a motor vehicle... sounds like criminal negligence to me.

I'm and EMT-Intermediate in NH and sometimes it is very difficult to tell the difference between Hypoglycemia and ETOH, unless you have a glucometer on you, which the police do not carry with them, also depending on what type of diabetic you are, in order for your blood sugar to get down to 20 you either had to A) not eaten anything that day, where you should have known better or B) over medicate your insulin. Yes the officers could have handled it differently, but put yourself in their shoes...

@gjn00100 They have sprayers they spray people with that makes them disoriented. Ive seen them being used on people. Spray you down the road causs people to crash. Use it on truckers .Why i know because its been used on me and i reported to the FHP and Texas Public Saftey/ MAybe thats why cops go nuts too when sprayed with that shit. Make dogs fight. if this can happen to you WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING then you should not have an operators license. you yourself said you have no knowledge of what you were doing. you also caused multiple accidents with multiple injuries. you are UNSAFE to operate a motoro vehicle and should have your license revoked. plain and simple. if you had killed someone doing this you would be in jail for manslaughter.

That's ALL THE POLICE KNOW TILL THEY GET THE GUY OUT. He could be a rapist , nazi kidnapper with a body in the trunk running to get home and kill his wife, I don't fucking know. @tmattzz The 6th Amendment does not apply in this case as there is no criminal proceedings taking place. The 4th Amendment also covers a grey area in this case because police have probable cause to arrest the driver and search his vehicle. Applying the 8th is a stretch as it applies to sentencing, not pre-trial conduct, thats handled more under police brutality laws, the 8th truly applies after trial when facing jail time (e.g. receiving the death penalty for petty larceny).

The bottom line here is that THANKS TO THE COPS' CORRECT ACTIONS, NOBODY DIED. Doesn't that matter to anybody? Why is everyone complaining about this? When the day comes that we stop being tankful to those who protect us, we're on our own. You'd all be singing different tunes if Rod had driven YOU off the road that day. THANKS cops, for stopping an imminent disaster from happening. Your procedures looked correct and prudent, given the circumstances. Jeeesh, people!
