Jamming with George Thorogood... Keith was ready to boot Ronnie during this tour. He really liked Thorogood, but in the end they decided, just as they had after Mick Taylor left, that they were a London band. When Keith Richards says you're too fucked up... you're really fucked up.
I love this clip of Keith and Thorogood backstage together! I have it in my faves, but every time I find someone else with it, I can't resist having it again! So,Tthank You! Much Love to Ya! xxo
It's like this is what they were put on this earth to do, this is their world, this is just one snippet, think of how many 100's & 100's of back stage scenes they have experienced
This is the place where some kook from the audience ran up on stage and Keith took off his guitar and tried to whack the guy with it. Classic.
I got to see them just a few weeks before this in San Fran at Candlestick Park. It was my 21st birthday and the greatest time I ever had!! J. Geils opened, then George Thoroughgood And The Destroyers. Seems like yesterday, but also seems like a hundred years ago...
I was there as well. Actually Thorogood played 1st. He wasn't nearly as big as J.Geils at the time(or before or since) who was on high rotation on MTV at the time. I was 16. I've lived in SF for 20 years and whenever I go south to Silicon Valley to visit old friends & family I pass Candlestick park & think about that day. I do remember it as clearly as yesterday but it seems like another lifetime as well. I'm only 45 and quite a few people who were there aren't with us anymore. Stones forever!
great video !!

The first song sounds like they were practicing Black Limousine, which they eventually inserted in to their lineup.

They were going to replace Ronnie at one point; his freebase addiciton was getting the better of him-one of the candidates was Thorogood
