  • Just because Fox news is fucked up does not make socialism correct. Please keep this in mind, liberals. Fox news is shit. I understand. This still does nothing to making any liberal ideas or plans any better unless you can explain to me why.

  • Unfortunately the Murdoch (Fox) Dynasty remains VERY powerful and through its media outlets world wide influence elections, politicians and public opinion, none more so than in the USA.

FOX USA "Fair and Balanced" .... is like saying Saddam Hussein was "Kind and Gentle" or Rush Limbaugh is "Pleasant and Fun". I have always thought if they have to promote themselves in this way, it is most certainly a lie.

  • Fox News's motto being "Fair and Balanced" is like something out of 1984...

  • God dammit, I meant "off." I hate my keyboard.

  • What they do to Ron Paul is despicable! Time after time they either laugh at him or change truths to dismiss him. Now they are going to slam Herman Cain down everyone's throats to try to discredit Ron. I just hope more people start waking up to their UNfair and UNbalanced news.

  • My problem isn't that Fox News is biased. My problem is that they're not only unwilling to admit it, but that they get insulted that people even bring it up.

And on the one hand, FN could make all this firestorm go away by admitting it. On the other, why would they want to? It's proven to be good for ratings, mostly because MSNBC, CNN, and Jon Stewart advertise their shows for free.

It's poor journalism, to be sure...but its GREAT for their bottom line.

  • @Gunman610 You hit the nail right on the head. FN fans like to point out how good their ratings are as if that is somehow an indication that their ridiculous "fair and balanced" claim has been validated. The problem is, they have little or no competition for the conservative audience. The worst thing that could happen to Fox would be for a rational, moderately right-biased channel to emerge. It would further expose how over-the-top and propagandist Fox News really is.

  • america meh

  • Fox news fear and balanced

  • That guy got fired, big suprise there...

  • ok just how exactly did that expose a fox news bias? I cant beleive ppl always talk about this shit like its a surprise that FOX is more conservative while all the other news stations are liberal I mean w/o fox all there would be nothing to balance out the massive liberal bias in the media. Its only fair conservatives have a station for them. 'If they can get you to ask the wrong questions they dont need to worry about the answers'

  • @-

That is just ridiculous reasoning. Our political system is thrown so far right at the moment that anything near the actual "Center" compared to the rest of the world is Left-Wing reasoning, and if you're even on the Left, you're a "Left-Wing Nutcase."

It's because of shit like Fox News portraying itself as Fair and Balanced, and people in the Center being too afraid and sensitive to tell them to shut the fuck up and call them out on their bullshit.

  • @Hytegia

Are you kidding? For decades the left has controlled every bit of media except for Talk Radio & FNC. And BTW they denounce FNC daily on either CNN or MSNBC. If it is FNC that lies so much & its CNN & MSN & all the rest that are so honest and tell the truth then why are they so worried about FNC & have to say something bad about it daily, maybe b/c FNC has better ratings than CNN & MSNBC put together. Do u honestly think their secret for always having better ratings is b/c they lie more

  • @mikedd56 -

Because Faux News is so ridiculously biased that it's beyond reasoning - and the reason people bash it is because they are so far off kilter and that people who can't tell which way is up will cling onto something that fits their biases and the like. It's a hype media channel, who's sole news is basically opinions, and boasting them as the truth.

Yes. They have high ratings because of lies and misc. asshattery. It's hype media, marketing controversy to the masses for money.

  • @mikedd56 LOL every right wing nut believes that the fact that fox news has high ratings makes what they report true...do you realize how stupid that sounds? By that logic they can go on air and lie but if they continue to have high ratings it's legitimate? They have constantly come under fire from more than other news organizations. They have come under fire from religious groups, women, gays, and SEVERAL different ethnic communities.

  • @risalation -

Is it because they intentional disregard the "Opinion" in "Opinion News?"

I would find it rather more comfortable to think that humanity is intellectually dishonest than 100% fucktwits.

  • @risalation

About a year ago the white house had a personal vendetta w/ FNC b/c they appeared to be presenting them in unfavorable ways, so they spent an inappropriate amount of time denouncing the FNC, you'd think the white house would have more pressing concerns. Anyway it backfired b/c tons of ppl began tuning into FNC to see what the fuss was & most realized that FNC wasnt some racist lie factory after all. So I guess its stuff like that ya know. Remember before the election when all us...

  • @risalation

..crazy right wingers said non-sense like 'Obama would only hurt the country.' Well how wrong we were Obama has done a fine job, esp. with the economy wouldnt ya say? I'm an avid reader, I always verify what I hear on the news & I watch right & left news programs. Well I did until they canceled Keith Olberman. I guess for high ratings & telling the truth to often huh? Let me guess w/e MSNBC says is good enough for you. Never bothered to watch FNC outside of U-Tube

  • @mikedd56 Yes he's inability to create jobs, the economy in the shitter, his inability to to bring any type of unity to congress oh yes he's done a great a job. Come on how biased can you be.

  • @CaRTMan191919 well you cant blame shit for smelling like shit, the nation was tore to shit in the previous 8 years so they throw a black man in there so everyone can feel good about hating the govt now, duh

  • @kixxclub That doesn't even make sense. Please never post anything again. His color has nothing to do with the hate. He's hated because he sucks.

  • @CaRTMan191919

You are quite naive if you think that racists are not an active political base. The whole "Kenyan/Indonesian secret Muslim America hating racist" thing is entirely based on race.

  • @yonskii When the fuck did I say racist don't exist in politics. :S Here's a good tip you can share with your fellow morons. Learn how to comprehend. The guy I was replying to was saying that all the hate thrown Obama's way comes from his color, which is complete b.s. While that's true about some people. For a lot that is not the case.

There seems to be this arsenal of idiots on YouTube; a never ending flow of stupidity. It really stops being amusing after a while. :/

  • @CaRTMan191919

Because if you automatically fall for the "Kenyan/Indonesian secret Muslim America hating racist" without wanting to do your own homework to see if its true or not, you ARE racist. Thats my only point, no need to start throwing out insults like a 12 year old.

  • @yonskii That's not even close to being relevant to anything I have said. Well actually when someone is spewing out shit that is as stupid and completely unrelated to the subject of the discussion as you are. Then yes insults are warranted. It's YouTube not an official debate.

  • @Hytegia Right on...

  • By the way, the host was fired from the show around that same time.

  • Fox News is just the same as MSNBC, CNN, or any other news organizations. MSNBC is clear-cut liberal Democrat and CNN is moderate Democrat while Fox News is certainly conservative Republican (and now pro-tea party since it could destroy the Senate lock, although make no mistake, they are republican..not tea party) I think if anyone watches them enough, they will absolutely come to the same conclusion. They are a means to pass out talking points to our lazy "commoners" since thats how they see it

  • As long as people argue Left vs. Right, Dem vs. Repub, the NWO puppet masters continue to laugh at you, and I continue to cry for us all. They have you arguing with each other, quite passionately, about how to arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. Don't you see it's just the illusion of choice?

How many times do you need to see the balance of power switch back and forth to see that nothing ever changes?

    End the Fed

    I will not comply

  • Well America, Now do you realise that your country is being run by Jews.

  • A left-winger complaining about “media bias” is the most disingenuous position possible.

How dare ONE news source NOT subscribe to indoctrinated liberal orthodoxy! Everyone must agree with all progressive dogma at all times because liberals cannot tolerate “diversity” of thought.

“So much of left-wing thought is a kind of playing with fire by people who don't even know that fire is hot.” - George Orwell

  • @islandmuffin Slanted news is a bad thing, this is something we can agree on. But, lately there seems to be a movement saying that news slanted in favor of opinions -you- hold is -not- bad? If a news source was legitimately 'fair and balanced', it would not be pushing a narrative consistent with one political party's views. It would simply report the news and let public opinion be what it would be without trying to shape it. That is the opposite of anything Fox does.

  • @bmyze316 actually republicans think that other news networks dont support the left because the networks arent fully supporting left wing ideals like they want them to, republicans want more left on other news networks but they get the same exact amount as the right which causes the left to anger and think they arent getting enough news coverage

  • @bmyze

From my perspective, all american channels are right leaning, even CNN. But a good news channel isnt left or right leaning, its objective. Instead of pursueing a political agenda they just report the news. Its called objectivity. Nobody is 100% objective, but FOX probably the most subjective out there.

  • There is no good news channel. the best we can do is allow competing news channels. One way we can solve that problem is to reduce broadcast regulations and licensing fees that are keeping ordinary americans from having their say.

  • As to the argument that fox is the only right leaning news channel:

from my perspective all american channels & parties are right leaning.

But a GOOD channel is not right or left leaning. Its called "objectivity"

  • who cares if fox is biased? how many right leaning news organizations are on t.v. right ???? ONE SO WHO CARES JUST BECAUSE THEY DOMINNATE IS THAT WHY!?!?!?

  • This 40 stinkin seconds with a far left guy ON FOX, does not prove bias. If it is so biased why is he allowed on Fox? This proves it is not biased by allowing a left wing hack to excuse the left wing boycott of Fox. The only one not in the pocket of the left. Not left wing biased and it kills them. Hah, I love it. If that is the best you can come up with, i pity your meager jackassery.

  • amrite,

get your head out of your ass

  • @amrite says the guy who is a republican and watches fox news.

  • @amrite if u really think that fox isn't biased try this. go to the top of this page on youtube and type in the words fox news. you'll notice that the next suggestion is "fox news biased." type in msnbc and three words down you'll see "msnbc biased. try this again with cnn, and the words "cnn biased" doesn't even appear on the list. these suggestions are based 100% on the searches that real people type in. fox news is the most biased!!!! u like it because they say what you want them too!

  • no, just like how people THINK Viagra gives you a boner, but does it really? hmmm maybe you should check your fucking brain, you moron.

  • @J40d Dude what the fuck? Why are you using all these unbacked shit opinions to support another opinion? Don't you have any fucking facts. For example, FOX is the most watched news channel in the U.S. MSNBC sure isn't. Obviously proves that FNC is the fairest and best, unless you believe all Americans are stupid, in which case, you are.

  • fact is, fox is the number one watched CABLE news channel. MSNBC is second, and CNN is last. however CNN is rated the LEAST biased which is the one I watch.I watch fox more than I watch MSNBC. so quit fucking assuming that i watch MSNBC becuase i don't CNN has the highest viewer ratings during big news, E the election, speeches, press conferences.Fox is rated the most biased based on the fact that that everyone of their anchors/hosts is a self-proclaimed republican. FOX IS BIASED get over it

  • @J40d

    BBC FTW

  • plus the fact that Americans like entertainment, not facts. How many Americans watch BBC?BBC is without doubt the LEAST biased news channel on the face of the planet.Nobody watches that becuase it's uninteresting.Fox and Friends is THE ONLY self-proclaimed/ and labeled opinion news program on in the morning becuase they know that a lot of people watch morning news; and what a better time to feed them their republican bullshit when Americans are drinking their coffee.Fox distorting not reporting

  • @amrite lmao at your fox comments. the reason fox is the most watched is because it is so insanely bias that it is entertaining. not real news though. fox only tricks the elderly.

  • if all american's brains worked like those that work on Fox "News" Channel... I'd say we got ourselves a giant country of STUPID... (luckily enought, that's not the case... I think)

  • @J40d

FOX IS THE ONLY RIGHT LEANING ORGANIZATION ON TV SO WHATS THE BIG DEAL. EVERYONE ELSE LEANS LEFT

  • I think amrite is funny, I think he's joking

Or he's a troll, so Lets all laugh with/at the troll

    Looolz!!!!

  • Hey whatever happened to Joe the Bummer I mean Plumber.

  • if ur slogan is "fair and balanced" ima just assume ur a fucking lying prick.

  • FOX stands for Fans Of Xanax! if you dont know what Xanax is, its a drug!

  • PBS, NBC, CNN,CBS, ABC, Newsweek,Time, and NPR have a Liberal Bias.................what say you Fox haters?

  • I say the ideal of Corporate News being "leftist" is an oxymoron.

  • Yeah their special on water boarding and how it's really not that bad, was real fair and balanced. Fox news was the mouthpiece for the W administration. That is the first time in the history of our country that has happened.

  • Exactly, That's why I said "Even though they, themselves arn't", We should all accept that ALL news orginizations are RAN by EGOTISTICAL foolish, Greedy HUMAN BEINGS.

  • If They were fair and balanced, they wouldn't sponsor such events 9/12, tea parties, ect. They would be more like CNN with both conservative and Liberal talk show hosts. Almost all their anchors hold a right balance.

  • Almost? What are you biased towards Fox News or something? ALL OF THEIR ANCHORS HOLD A RIGHT BALANCE!

    Lol

  • biased*

  • PBS isnt biased asshole jim lehrer is honest and never speaks up like a jackass. yeah msnbc has an agenda but fox is the worst out of all. oh and i dont think charlie gibson or time is biased its just a magazine that doesnt question obama's patriotism

  • I'm going to go on a limb and say the other networks' bias is born from being tired of bullsh!t, and seeing through it, whereas Foxnews bias stems from being a replublican tool.

  • i know that rachael maddow says outright that she hosts a progressive show. CNN has a liberal bias? I didn't know wolf blitzer had a mind of his own. Doesn't lou dobbs host a show on CNN?

As far as talk radio goes it's not really news. Take rush as an example.

I don't read magazines or watch network news so i can't say anything about those.

  • whats more likely? that fox is biased and ur just to blind to see that, or every other station is biased and fox is the only objective news sourse? use occam's razor and it all becomes so clear

  • FOX NOISE is a racist, homophobic conservative republican bullshit, that bash democrats HOUR AFTER HOUR and claim to be fair and balanced. That proves republicans are hypocrites. They claim one thing, yet do another. I hope FOX goes bankrupt and off the air. The channel is crap. Makes great entertainment though. The only reason so many people are watching is that they want to have a laugh. Its like comedy central. Its all comedy and fake reporting. They try to rewrite history. Phony Bastards!

  • @Smackdown5 Ya hypocrites suck sort of like how rich liberals pretend to be for the poor. Its a good laugh. And I guess one station being biased makes all republicans hypocrites ya that makes fucking sense. Stupid liberals forgetting to apply any kind of logic.

  • @Smackdown5 I agree they're corrupt, in the same way MSNBC is corrupt, but the whole "racist, homophobic..." mantra just gets a little irritating. They're corrupt for a side you don't agree with. You'd prefer the good kind of corruption. The type you agree with.

Want non-corrupt media? Stay of the television and good luck.

  • Watch C-SPAN... no one in the background telling you what to think.

  • Alan Colmes is still with the net work he does commentary all the time..you trying to ASSUMEhe left ...because of what reason? heh

  • you cant deny his the only liberal on the whole freakin network though

  • FOX NOISE please shut up!!

  • I honestly cannot stand Fox News and their "Fair and Balanced" crap. It is so riciculously hypocritical I simply hate it! I realized this when I was watching the coverage of the Election Campaigns and the snide little remarks against all Democrats and Obama were terrible. Down with Fox News!

  • I totally agree, but to take it one step further guys like Keith Olbermann are also too opinionated but in the liberal way... Personally idk why there is a need for anchors or commentators anyway other that to make our news more entertaining. You want to watch a fair and balanced political channel watch cspan.

  • CNN, LA Times, NY Times, and all that other crap is biased for the Democrats. I guess you democrats don't know what being against a bias feels like...

  • asshole just go back to your little trailer park and eat burgers and drink beer. fox news is TRASH

  • FOX news is Racist we should all boy-cot...

    wait...what?

he won? who, Obama? oh s***

f*** FOX news but f*** the boy-cot, it doesnt matter. America has spoken. FINALLY!

the red-necks are dying off..this country might have a chance.

  • You said it buddy! No matter if a person is asian, hispanic, black, white or green, the U.S.A. will always be the land of opportunity and the greatest on earth...USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA!

  • i justr think foxnews is so rightwing conservative dont watc it its more like a joke. not so serious journalists, fr johnnyb

  • fuck rupert murdoch.

im aussie, same as him, and even we're ashamed of him. yeah sure he's made money but in doing so he's pretty much turned his back on the whole of australia.

down here we're not used to people bullshitting with the public (aka our media knows better not to) and this is just astounding compared to our national news channels (check out an sbs news broadcast for an example). their reports are virtually stoic - that's unbiased news.

  • What are the characteristics of a FOX? Theres your answer

  • Lol faux news lies everyday than again the fcc are all republicans it wouldn't matter to them. Hey faux news how is that ashly todd story you were pushin going. Also how is the joe the fraud plumber doing. I mean I like reality .

  • Wooo liberalism!

And mya3dan- Really? It's an OPINION that Glenn Beck has his own conservative show? Must have missed the memo...

  • fuck fox.

    fuck conservative extremists. fggts.

  • after the first presidential debate they had polls that said that 84% thought McCain won and 12% or something thought Obama won, i changed the station and found that 51% thought Obama won an 49 for McCain and other news stations had similar things but fox took the cake w/ that 84%!!

i watch CNN now and MSNBC

Hannity lies alot about Louis Farrakhan, you may not agree with Farrakhans retoric but dont lie on him, thats a big turn off

  • "fair and balanced" yeah right. search this vid,

"Nearly unanimous vote for Obama = "split" on FOX"

    good laugh

  • garymonc, you said, "why dont they just change the name of fox news to = republican channel, as that is what it is!" Why don't you and the rest of your ilk call CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, NY TIMES, LA TIMES, AJC, and all the other papers in America what they are. LIBERAL OUTLETS!!!! You can't even see that FOX has Liberals, Conservatives, Indies and everyone for a conversation. Unlike all the media I spoke of first. Why dosen't Air America or any lefty radio person's make it? Biased???

  • The only one on that list that is as liberal as Fox is conservative is MSNBC. I was once watching Fox and saw 2 anti-liberal commercials, and then turned to CNN and saw one anti-liberal and one anti-conservative commercial.

  • I love the fact that Fox News is so arrogant that their slogan is "fair and balanced" when it is one of the most bias channels on television.

  • CNN is way more balanced than Faux News. Everybody knows that. Glenn Beck has his own conservative show...

  • It's a fact--Fox news is the most biased "News" network (courtesy of Murdoch).

  • CNN has conservative shows: Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs. Fox news does not!

  • Don't forget Wolf Blitzer.

Shit, even Fox's resident liberal whipping-boy Alan Colmes is gone now.

  • America is waking up.

  • why dont they just change the name of fox news to = republican channel, as that is what it is!

  • More like "the Extreme Conservative channel." I'm a classic liberal, but I know some conservatives that don't want to have anything to do with people like this. Neo-conservatism is what these people endorse and possibly some paleoconservatism.

  • Its a sad day when CNN actually has more interesting balanced reporters. I use to watch Fox but stopped. All the shows are so boring and anti-capitalism on Fox.

At least I can watch Glenn Beck on CNN - even tho he is a bit to pro war for me at least doesn't talk about Britney Spears and Anna Nichole Smith for the majority of his show.

Fox is not a republican station - they are a war propaganda station and thats it. I know because I am a republican, always have been.

  • i remember flipping through the channels and i saw a tragic accident. faux news covered it as a possible terrorist attack. they kept saying it over and over. it later came out as just an accident. but the fear mongering is disgusting.

  • Everything wrong with amercia can be found on fox news its the biggest amercian sterotype ever enough said (time to relise amercia the whole wpold hates you) and no were not jealous

  • look its fox "news"

  • are u retarded or sumin, so u listen to or watch a news channel that has more ratings than another news channel, i guess thats why most people think americans are dumb

  • Says the moron whose favorites are dominated by rap and video games. LOL.

  • well jst coz i like rap and video games does not make me dumb, the point i was making was how can you say you are going to decide wat news channel u want to watch solely based on the ratings it has, why cant you go watch sumin that you know is objective and not biased. so jst cz i lyk games does not mean i dnt know wat d hell im doin.

  • Read more carefully dumbass. Where did I say I watch it because it gets good ratings? Look hard because I never said that. My point is, it gets good ratings because there is so much liberal bias in ABC,CBS,NBC,MSNBC,and CNN that the only place for conservatives to go is Foxnews whereas liberals have many choices, hence the dominant ratings. Why don't you dis MSNBC? It's 10x more liberal than Fox is conservative.

  • Fox should change the name from Fox News to Republican/Bush Kool Aid News. Republicans have allowed their party to swing so far to the right that any news channel that's in the center to them is extreme liberalism. Reality has escaped from Republicans, so they rely on the fantasy worlds of religion and right wing propaganda, and they only want to hear information that promotes those two things, regardless of whether or not it's true.

  • All liberal do is worry about republicans... when anything goes bad blame it on them and go about trying to increase the nations debt. God damn its just a different view why do you hate conservatives so much... you are the party that is always preaching acceptance.

  • Fox news pretends like it Fair and this guy just proved there not. If you google fox news reporters 98% of them are all conservatives! Just watch Fox and friends they dont even try to hide it anymore!!

  • Watch Al Jazeera

  • I actually have. The slanting is there, but then again it's news reported by human beings so that goes without saying.

  • Good for him. Is he still on this show?

  • watch bbc news

  • what do you expect they are good at that

  • Whenever i watch FOX News i always laugh whenever they say "Fair and Balanced" because it's obviously night. Maybe Americans should take a leaf out of the BBC's book.

  • Clearly everyone has an opinion and a bias. This includes every single reporter at every single news outlet, period. With ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Al Jezeera, WGN and others supporting the left and Fox supporting the right. It's no wonder Fox has the highest ratings.

  • When the clinton impeachment fiasco was happening, every reporter in washington, every media post-was going after him. I never heard NBC, ABC, CBS, no one, take his back--for the duration. The white water scandal; same. But when the political waters are unsavory for the other side and they do their job, oh, they're all hacks, right?

  • I'm saying, look at AC360'S reporting on democratic spending, refering to them as bloated pork junkies, etc. He uncovered that scandal of ear-marks, and now they're all paying for it.

Wolf Blitzer, while, if you pay atttention, you can detect his liberal plight, but almost NEVER adds commentary. For political commentary you have Glen Beck, then, Lou Dobb's. Ohm yeah, and a cliff note from Jack Cafferty.

  • And if you don't like their coverage of the war, they shouldn't have to apologize for reporters not being able to make it out of their respective zones, to cover all the splended things happening there right now.

So, please, don't accuse them all of great bias. Media, in general, should reflect-maybe not topically, on every issue-the general concensus in America. Not be driven by a memo or an ideology.

They should also be looking out for average people, not a constituency.

  • "Media, in general, should reflect-maybe not topically, on every issue-the general concensus in America" and, "Looking out for average people", by definition, is ideology. This is why you can't see their biases. They are in line with your thinking, so they appear normal to you. Just like when I watch Glenn Beck, to me, he is a voice of sanity in a backwards society.

  • What I meant by that is the newscast, not commentary. Even Fox's newscast is tainted. The news should reflect what is important to people. Like if 65% of all people want us out of Iraq, lets say, they should be talking about that.

ps: Totally agree with you about the Beck thing. I am fruit-cake liberal and he gets me thinking about things a Sean Hannity never could. But, who do you think is more bias, certainly not CNN.

  • Because, there is nothing worse than being blindly partisan. That is, if you value truth and justice. I always try to step out of my partisan shell. I find my arguments go a lot further when I pay attention to the other side.

  • "There is nothing worse than being blindly partisan. That is, if you value truth and justice."

I totally agree. I can't stand partison hacks on either side. It does nothing for the conversation or the advancement of the cause because most people see through it. Howard Dean on the left and Dick Cheney on the right. There's one from each side I can not even listen to.

  • Yes, talkshows are not news, although many of them talk about top stories. I think this is what a lot of Fox critics don't see. Yes, I believe their news is slanted right, but the people who try to point out the bias usually bring up Hannity or O'Rielly (talkshows).

  • When all your talk shows are blatantly right wing it's a legitemate point. Especialy if your 'news' channel is full of talk shows.

  • They most certainly did put some spin on it. I remember they all kept refering to Clintons "private life" and calling the Monica story "about sex". The fact was, it wasn't about sex at all, nobody cared who he was poking, it was about lying under oath and pergury. But why did he lie? They said to "protect his family, his privacy", when in fact it was to protect himself from being portrayed as what the Paula Jones trial was calling a pattern of sexual abuse and exposing himself.

  • Also, I do remember a CNN anchor talking about how trivial it was, you're right. The guy is retired or has moved on I think now. But even so, it was a massacre.

Now, if only we could've gotten him to say, "I don't remember."

That did make a little more sense about the reflective pov of bias. You're right. Just wish the whole damn network (FOX) weren't so biased.

  • I agree the whole Fox NewChannel (cable TV channel) is leaning right, but not so much the Fox (network TV) news, at least not in Chicago. As far as your earlier question, who I think is the most biased on the left? I'd have to say CBS or NBC. CNN is mostly Liberal to me too, but I cut them (a little) slack because I understand they are trying to portray a "world view".

  • MSNBC is definitely getting worse. They're almost completly commentary. I can't even watch them anymore. When Joe sold out, I thought he was getting "the memos" too.

    Cool.

  • Joe is a republican. One of the few who dares to be critical of his own party. As far as repugs go he fares pretty well so MSNBC is doing okay.

  • Of course regional tv in chicago isn't going to be as blatantly right wing as Fox news. BBC is the most legitemate source of news and in America it would be smeared as a left wing shill like NBC is potrayed.

  • "BBC is the most legitemate source of news"

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are. The BBC is ridiculously Liberal. Here in the US they are a joke, pure Liberal commentary, not even a bit newsworthy. Take a look at this opinion posing as news...

Ann Coulter on UK BBC Newsnight interview with Jeremy Paxman

  • It's because the liberal or leftist media is a figment of their imagination or, really, a wonderful propaganda tool to limit debate between far right and centrist positions.

  • I think, generally, people go into journalism, or reporting, because they have a sense of social justice. I mean, after all, most of what a reporter does is breaking cases, fighting corruption, etc. I think it's just by happenstance that they seem liberal. I don't think they'd like to identify with either party.

  • That may be true, but they aren't free to do exactly what they want. They work for a business, a corporation. So they are limited in so many ways. I don't know if that's liberal or not. I do agree that a concern for social justice is probably why many people become actors, writers, and artists, because it's easier to tell the truth the way they do than the way journalists do.

  • Absolutely. That's why Fixed News and the media try to paint them as fringe-lefties; like they're not "mainstream."

That is true what you said about repoters: Take MSNBC for example. If a guest is trying to speak about the health-care, or pharmacuticals, and they say something damaging, since there is a delay, they mute it out. I witnessed this like two or three times and thought it was odd. Then I thought about their sponsors. Conspiracy? Maybe. Maybe not.

  • It's not much of a conspiracy theory at all. It's how it works. I recently saw an interview of a steel workers union official on MSNBC, and this man started talking about the working class and how it was screwed by NAFTA. In less than a minute, the interview was over and they were into commercials. Class is one issue that you can't talk about on any TV network, unless it's a pity party.

  • I think they're all getting the "memos," even the one's I prefer. It's tough.

I should probably start watching the BBC. Just where, in your opinion, is the safest place to go?

  • Although BBC definitely maintains higher journalistic standards than any american news source (tv, radio, or newspaper) maybe with the exception of NPR, it still has many of the same problems as the american sources, just with a different set of biases. If you really want unbiased news, from every conceivable viewpoint try ZMag or Znet, you should be able to find it online, it is excellent, and actual news.

  • I tried zmag and znet, buthad no luck. Can you please give the full web site. thanks

  • It's pretty funny how Dennis Prager, a republican, has asked to debate with Ed Scott of Air America many many times but Scott always declines. This guy is lying out of the corner of his mouth.

  • the reason fox news says their programming is fair and balanced is for the debates they have, not the news coverage, which they know is biased. watch hannity and colmes and you'll see what I mean.

now commentators...well, that's a completely different story. they're not reporting news. they're reporting opinion. bill o'reilly is a good example. we know he has spin. it's his opinion that he doesn't.

  • I love the look on his face and how his eyes are shifting back and forth, you know what he's thinking.. "OMG he's he's proving how bias this network is, somebody save me, I hope I dont get fired."

  • you know what, though...Fox News has a right to have their bias. I won't complain about the liberal media if you won't complain about Fox News.

  • It's about representation and transparency. You can't claim you are unbiased when you are. That's a flat out lie. If they claimed to be entertainment/comedy than I wouldn't have a problem.

  • One thing i never get about the commentary on Fox news.

Conservatives usualy say it's not biased, and liberals usualy say it is.

Doesn't that kind of prove that it is biased?

When one side constantly sees it as biased and the other does not,

doesn't that prove that the chanels views are the same as the people that usualy agree with them?

  • This is also the kind of thing they're doing to RON PAUL!!!

  • This guy hit the nail on the head. I love the look on the other guy's face when he's criticized.

  • What's the big deal? All news is biased to a certain extent: that's why multiple news channels work - cos they all have a slightly different story or angle depending on their viewpoint.

  • So calling someone's views "extreme" is biased? What if they really are extreme? Then what would you be allow to call them, if not extreme? Would you have to call them "mainstream"? "Middle of center"? How come the term "bias" is not considered biased?

  • If Fox's aim was an honest examination of "extreme" views, left & right, that's one thing...but clearly Fox continually characterizes the left/democratic side using (negative) language that it does not apply to the right/republican side. That is not an accident, nor honest journalism, nor is it a particularly controversial observation at this point!

  • The question remains: What would you call a view that is extreme, if you are not allowed to say that it's extreme? Please use only positive language.

  • it's not a question of what is "allowed," it's a matter of the intent behind the use of such terms, and the intent is not accuracy of description, as you suggest. It's meant to casually dismiss a broad range of views and people w/out dealing with the substance or nuance of their arguments. Deal with substantive issues & let viewers decide on the characterizations that apply...that would be "fair & balanced."

  • I wouldn't limit this critique only to Fox either, most of the crappy Sunday opinion shows rely to some degree on reductive labelling (like "extreme" "neo-con" "embolden the enemy" "stay the course" "cut & run") of this sort...it's empty invective and is unworthy the name of "journalism".

  • How come it's only Fox that receives these constant and massive accusations of bias, if other media outlets are also biased? Is it because of the bias of the people who are criticizing it, caused by a one-eyed view of what is to be considered biased?

  • Because: 1)Fox is the worst and loudest offender, and 2)They proudly and unflinchingly assert the Orwellian opposite, that they are completely "fair & balanced" and will simply "report" and let "YOU decide." For me personally, few of any of the media outlets, including newspapers, did an honest job of questioning the administration's case for the Iraq invasion, so there's plenty of blame to go around.

  • But Fox is the only media outlet being criticized for perceived media bias, which, in my opinion, is neither a coincidence nor an unbiased response. Just take a look at the disproportionate amount of attention Fox is given here on YouTube, and you will see what I mean about this constant "outrage".

  • Of course it's not a "coincidence," it's richly deserved, and based on the fact that Fox is the "worst and loudest offender" while screaming about how fair they are. Most of the "attention" Fox gets on YouTube and elsewhere is as much about terrible journalism as it is about bias. The shouting matches, the name calling, cutting microphones, etc...that's crap no matter what the bias is! Is there any substance to that criticism in your view?!

  • There may well be substance to criticism of Fox, but that is not the issue that I am arguing. What I AM arguing it that Fox News is receiving a very disproportionate amount of criticism considering that other media outlets are also showing bias. The reason why Fox is being critized is not that it is biased, but that it has the WRONG bias in the eyes of the critics.

  • majorunderscore: I am a neutral observer in this because I dislike Republicans and Democrats and Liberals and Conservatives equally. I have voted for Ronald Reagan, Jesse Jackson and Ralph Nader for President. Fox takes their bias to a new extreme that is not present anywhere else. Their agenda permeates every aspect of their presentation. When Fox news started that was the only news I watched for a long time but now Fox News has become unwatchable.

  • @klard: As a neutral observer who has never voted for either Republicans or Democrats, I greatly prefer that the supposed bias of the media be made explicit rather than hidden from the viewers. That way we can all judge for outselves based on the background of the media organization. What scares me is the great majority of reporters and news people who hide behind their supposed neutrality all the while doing extensive selection of what is to reach the viewers.

  • Here's the thing, regardless that Fox News does all this, it would make more sense for the Dems to attend because they can HINT through Fox's cameras that it is such a biased network. This can mean they could pull away its VIEWER RATINGS = more VOTES for the Dems. Otherwise, there can be a lot of perceptions that the Dems are cowards and afraid to face "tough" questions = fewer VOTES.

  • For ex. I have no trouble admitting, although maybe others do, that Olbermann is performing a similar role to that played by O'Reilly on Fox, just from the other side of the political spectrum. It's terrible partisan hackery that is no more "journalism" than is O'Reilly, despite the fact that I happen to frequently agree w/ Olbermann's political views.

  • How dare they cover both sides of the story.
