  • Darby Crash will be forever missed <3

  • BOWIE

  • Great clip, as true to original recording, with same muscians..;

Hypnotic opening drum beat, building story and emotion, and ace lyrics.

All this and the best DMs sen in the early 70s.. (-_-)

  • I'm on mushrooms... I have been sitting here for fours watching this video. I am mind blown!

  • Thanx 4 the post! This has been a fave of mine since it came out. Anyone know what brand of 12 string David's playing?

    Rock on 70's music!!!!!!!

  • @OUTSIDETHEBOCKS it a Guild

  • @amberburst with a string missing

  • He looks nice in this performance, such a young lad.

  • Most randomest song ever, but I love it!

  • @FlyingTurtletastic are you kidding?! there's nothing random about it! it's fucking sad! sorry... I'm frying on mushrooms

  • @FlyingTurtletastic Actually this song is about when Ziggy Stardust comes as a false prophet and tells everyone that the world will end in 5 years and all the "randomness" is the way everyone reacts to this news.

  • I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour, drinking milk shakes cool and long. Smiling and waving and looking so fine. Don't think you knew you were in my song.

  • Am I the only one who notices that he often mixing up words in his lyrics? :) I listen to his music too much. <3 It's "crying" then "sighing". He's still amazing. I love youtube, it's like Tardis.

  • i AM A VIRGIN

  • Why couldn't this album have been made into a movie. It could have made a fortune.

  • he is the best

  • Check out the 12 string guitar Bowie's playing...BRILL !!!

  • Geez the opinions from people who seem to have never lived those times and with less understanding about how fast time passes and progresses. The Beatles deserve every accolade they ever aquired. Bowie was ahead of his time and truly mis-understood. That's the price some artists pay. Those who come along afterward and call down those who went before them are the true losers and self over-rated swine.

  • Very many THANKs for post !!!

  • Let us all move to Planet Bowie!!!!

  • I have probably posted this on a few Bowie videos but he is the most important and relevant artist of the past 50 years......Sorry, Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones etc etc.

  • @ALotofWind You are so right !! Well said !!!

  • @ALotofWind --nigga, please. Even Bowie would disagree with you there.

  • @DestroyerofSouls666

Maybe, he would but there is no doubting his influence on music throughout the years. And I stand by my comments re The Beatles, Elvis etc.......The Beatles made a couple of credible albums but were dreadfully overrated. Elvis was a great showman with average material and The Stones, who I do admire, have churned out nothing of interest in over 30 years. Let's just beg to disagree.

  • @ALotofWind --Whatever you say, kitten.

  • @ALotofWind I rate the Beatles higher than you and Elvis lower than you but totally agree with you on the Stones for the past 30 years. You are not just a lot of wind.

  • @ALotofWind I do think Bowie has some much better melodic and kickass songs. But I think you think of him as a visionary and so you like this song a lot. To me, I guess I want a greater melody too .. not that this is not a good song. Remember it always comes back to Taste. Except for me .. I'm just perfect.

  • @ALotofWind you're right! I mean, I always thought the Beatles got much more success than what they deserved.

The Duke influenced Ian Curtis, Freddie Mercury, the Bauhaus... he is the best.

  • @ALotofWind Agreed. He influences even the most "outrageous" person of today. Where would Lady Gaga be without Alladin Sane? :)

  • @AngelGhostchild : despite that Aladdin Sane is great

  • Comment removed

  • @AngelGhostchild

I think Bowie would throw up at the sight of that comment. =/

If you had half a brain, you'd also wish that she isn't where she is. She's basically an insult to music. LOL.

  • @emmyyface I'm indifferent to her. I don't listen to her music or pay much attention to todays music if I can help it. I don't like it very much at all. But I can't do anything abou it, I'll tolerate it. On the plus side she seems like a nice girl. :)

  • your version has the best quality ! thank you !!

  • OH SHIT! MICK RONSON ON PIANO!

  • First AND Finest Rock Opera ever written...Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars...just SHEER GENIUS!!!

  • I used to think he was singing about 5 years stuck on Mars lol.

  • OK? It's an absolute masterpiece performed when Bowie was in his prime, and had the best musicians who ever worked with him. 'Five Years' is one of the finest songs on Ziggy Stardust.

  • @Ljotulfson

EVERY song on ziggy is of the finest it is a classic album. Perfect in every way

  • @derek6678421 I couldn't agree more, it was my first LP back in 1972, followed by Aladdin Sane and the rest of Bowie's brilliant work, particularly the Man Who Sold The World (Width of a Circle is possibly my favourite). The title track of Aladdin Sane still amazes me after thirty seven years, I've been playing it repeatedly all day!

  • @Ljotulfson Sounds like you've got what I've got: BOWIEITIS AIN'T IT SWEET? If you run across anyone who even claims he/she has an 'antidote'..kill 'em on the spot!! Or call me, I'll do it !!!

  • Un show privé - génial. La première chanson que j'ai entendu et aimé de Bowie.

Just like a private show. The first song I heard and liked from Bowie.

  • A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest, and a queer threw up at the sight of that

  • @modbeatlefan that is my favorite lyric of all time

  • @modbeatlefan I once saw a traffic warden lean on a vicar and a bi-curious chap farted. Not the same, but close...

  • the sky is wet...

  • David Bowie is the greatest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Es una canción de puta madre y está muy bien tocada por Bowie y la arañas

  • Пиздато послушал!!!

    Чувак-ты молодца!!! :-)

  • Thanks for posting. (And I wish he had never had his teeth "fixed.")

  • classic bowie

  • wow so awesome!!

  • A good one. LSD really did uncover the magic of Ziggy album I found on my one of two trips. There was a lot more to it underneath.

  • no shit, LSD uncovers everything

  • oh yes...
