I really feel left out, I've got all the Wipeouts except for this one :( I didnt even know it existed until a few years back... I wish it was on the PS store, I would grab it in a second :D

In other wipeout news, Wipeout 2048 is coming to the Playstation Vita (the PSP2) I am so excited about it!!!

The Designers' Republic were running their A Game and this game put Psygnosis on the map as one of the most creative game makers at the time. This game was SO well done - and FUN!

The only thing thats lacking from the series is a cockpit view. You know, an actual cockpit, not a front cam. But still, the games are very kickass.

Man my mind would always get lost in this game....I was like, IN THE GAME. This is the only game to ever do this to me. The music was PERFECT! I felt like I was there in that future World. A little known fact about that game is that you could take the disc out during play and put a cd in and it would play your cd. It would play the tracks as if it were the Wipeout timing so your songs wouldn't play as they should though.

XL had the right animation for how the ships moved. Also the camera position was better in 3rd person. If you play all the games you will see that from 1-fusion the ships get progressively less bouncy and the camera gets closer and closer.

I only got to play Wipe Out on PS back in 1995 when it was new. Recently purchased Wipe Out off the PSN. Brings back a lot of good memories from that era of gaming. This game should also be on the PSN man.

The song is done by the Future Sound of London (it's called We Have Explosive Part 4), and unfortunately, no other wipeout games have been released on PC since.

Its The Future Sound Of London, but the track is a mix between the two tracks "Herd Killing" and "We Have Explosive" from the album "Dead Cities" a similar if not identical track-mix, is here on utube - named : We Have Explosive (Herd Killing)

In Canada we had to wait about ten years to actually have Red Bull approved for sale here after the game launched.

I think it stemmed from the problem that we can't artifically caffeinate anything that isn't a "cola" (though Dr. Pepper counts.) That's uh... "fixed" now so we have stuff like Jolt fruit flavors etc, but normal Mountain Dew still has no caffeine...

This game definitely made me curious though!

It was that you couldn't (and still can't) caffinate any beverage that isn't a dark brown colour like cola or coffee. They get arround it by marketing Red Bull and other energy drinks as "medicinal" so they can colour it however they want. So Mountain Dew still can't have caffine because it's a soft drink.

That's changed. Kratindaeng-L (Thai RB) had to have a DIN number as over the counter medicine, but canned Red Bull is just a soft drink.

Since then, we got Mountain Dew Energy/Fuel which is just the American stuff, proving the regs changed. Funny though, it did badly and was discontinued.

Before all that you could have natural caffeine which is why the first CDN energy drinks all had guarana.

I played all Wipeout series in all consoles except Saturn version. This version (2097 or XL) is the best in my option. Hope they can do better in PS3

i dont think their releasing a ps3 version, or at least not yet. The latest versions, pure and pulse (out next month, yay!) are both for PSP.

I hope they do make a ps3 version though.

Therefor, it's not Wipeout in spirit, only in name.
