No one's denying we eat animals after we kill them etc. I think what people are disturbed by is the way in which they're killed or led to suffer. We can't assume they don't suffer, just because there's no way to be certain, because if we were wrong, they'd all be suffering needlessly and can't take that chance. Putting a knife through it's brain so it isn't skinned alive first isn't going to make it taste any different. And just because other animals' prey suffers, doesn't mean ours do.
