Giving it a convex grind, a la Colhane's Machete Mod, would greatly increase its chopping and cutting ability. If that's too much trouble, knocking the "shoulders" off the rather obtuse Cold Steel V grind would be an improvement as well.
I've contemplated giving it a convex grind actually. I just haven't gotten around to getting the necessary equipment, and more importantly the time to do so. The factory edge isn't great and it would definitely be a good improvement.
I've been really pleased with my convex blades (BRKT fox river hunter, and CKC hiker lite) and would love to have that edge on this big knife.
