Lets pause a second a look how the situation in America is getting worse and worse. Guys open your eyes. Christianity has been taken out of the lifestyle in America and look what is happening. I mean can't anybody see that things are not getting any better; while the American faith decreases, the moral decreases, values (don't even know how much is left), violence, crime , poverty increase. Can't you guys see that no matter what somebody says, THERE IS SOMETHING MISSING IN THE AMERICAN CULTURE
The Christian Bible, and The 10 Commandments is the exact OPPOSITE , the antithisis of our CONSTITUTION. "One GOd" does not square with freedom of religion (to worship ANY god you choose or NO god. Stoning for adulterers, disobedient children and homosexuals or atheists DOES NOT square with the 1st admendment.
That's the Declaration of Independence. There's no mention of Jesus, Yahweh or Christianity in that document in that document either. Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration, was a DEIST and was certainly not a fan of Christianity.
It doesn't matter what the Declaration says regarding this issue. The Constitution is the law of the land. The Constitition begins with "We the People" not "We for Jesus."
If a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken; for he is his property. Ex 21:20-21
You may also buy them from among the children of aliens among you, or from their families, whom the begot in your land. These shall become your property: you may keep them as a possession for your children, for them to inherit as property for all time. Such you may treat as slaves. Lev 25:44
I think the serious objection I have is that although America was founded on christian principles, they are not, nor ever will be, as pure or as upstanding as you pretend.
Your founding fathers were slave-owners, misogynists, and most were the richest of the rich (making concepts like a tax revolt laughable as it probably affected them only a little).
Your revolution was spurred by terrorism (sons of liberty), and although you can whitewash it, you hade just as many loyalists as not. Dont lie
@NecrosisOfLight As Atheistjeremy pointed out, Jefferson was very obviously a deist. There is no way the creator mentioned there was the Judeo-Christian God. Jefferson even wrote his own Bible: you should read it along with the writings of the framers (ex: The Federalist Papers) to understand what was meant in the Declaration of Independence. It will make you a better citizen and if your position is to defend Christianity, it will strengthen that position to know what you are talking about.
@stinky472 Have you read "Jefferson's Bible"? Do you know what it contains? It contains the words/teachings of Jesus, not the entire Bible. It was a teaching tool. He gave it to the missionaries that he sent (as President) to preach to Indian populations. Jefferson said "The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend all to the happiness of mankind." (Source: The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, Albert Bergh, editor (Washington, D. C.: Thomas Jefferson Memorial Assoc., 1904), Vol. XV, p. 383.)
