Hi. I have the problem with using Ableton Live, that Ableton Live wants the SECOND loop stopped on 4/4. That's very bad for me i think because i had using the BOSS RC-30 / BOSS RC-50 before now Ableton Live. Is there any chance to loop with my midi pedal like with the BOSS Looper? I mean that I really hate it to stop on 4/4. BOSS Looping was more more more easier. Any help? Thanks in advance!
useful tool for recording.. but still prefer my boss rc50 loop station as i'm not really gonna take the mac busking in the street... but cool for studio work or dj's i suppose.
is it possible to loop 8 simultaneous audio tracks? i wanna loop my acoustic drums. not have to worry about keep playing the through a whole piece while i mess around with samples and other instruments
Fruity loop haters grow up. It's a tool and I've heard some incredible music made through it (doesn't Aphex use Fruity Loops?). I personally use Cubase and Ableton mainly, but I'm not too stuck up too use any software. Just by results, not by tools.
This is great, love the huge monitor. Check out our video on Loops with Ableton with Jonathan Clark, just click our name and its in our videos since we cant post links on here. But I think with your knowledge, and his knowledge, you could do great things.
Have you guys seen the Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard workstation from Music Computing? The integrated controller works beautifully with Ableton. Check out the videos on our profile! Follow the link below!
@hawkd68 you need some way to get live audio into ableton. I use a focusrite saffire pro 24 audio interface which i have synced up with live. i usually just plug my guitar right into one of the four inputs on the interface, but if im just jamming with my amp and i find a cool sound then i plug the line out into the interface and wreck havoc from there. be sure to research different audio interfaces so you dont buy one that doesnt have what you need
@kyuss Oh dear... So much to learn... You poor naive creature.... I'm a Logic Pro user, and i can say that impartially, Ableton is a good program, and fruity loops, is well-you'll find out if ever take music production seriously.
@ ghostscience...i have a dope ass computer and live 8 has crashed on me like 6 times or so...apparently there are quite a few actions that cause it to crash but havent had it happen since 8.1.1....@ ceethe...uh probably shitty computers with loaded HD's while running VSTs which honestly aren't even necessary in Live in my opinion
@NOTSODOTCALM...I have a macbook pro thats maxxed out cuh....I don't know which version of Live you runnin but 8.1.1 had nasty bugs...but everythings on point now with that BETA 8.1.3b...extra fast and stable bossman....and Live is Universal binary software so it runs pretty much the same on a PC with specs that are up to par ya dig.
@ ceeth the producer, ableton is the shit you either have a shitty computer or dont know how to use your program , i have never had a crash and fix it in preferences i can run a million effects and a ton of clips at once and my cpu never goes past 40% its all about setting that up
@ghostsciencemusic ya man i agree with ya... Live 8 is pretty damn sweet. I ever run VSTs but i can have a million samples going at once and it never peaks above 45% and thats even using rewire with reason and having a million digital synths playing. i have had it crash though but that was because of a sound driver issue... once i fixed it... ive never had a problem... Live rocks, man
@yater the guitar is plugged into a separate unit...most likely an audio interface and the footswitch which he uses to send a midi signal to overdub or play is plugged into the APC40.
Is there a way to record separate cells in a column with the looper? For example: record 4 layers in looper then have each of those split into individual cells for independent combinations? Or is this what looper already does (hard to tell in the video)?
no, sooner or later it will crash, live/suite 8 is riddeled with faults, ableton live used to be a half decent daw yearz ago, back when it was simalar to Cockos Reaper in that it came like a blank canvas with just a few plug ins, now it kumz (like cubase) bundeled with loads of crap, the cpu usage in live is now fru the roof!!!! i know of people installing software to let the cpu spill into a hardrive in live (kuz it often hits 100 which = CRASH!) and have saw cpu peak at 180% in these cases!!!
i havent really had many problems with live 98, but i am running an intel i7 with 4 GB ram, and the most CPU usage ive seen is about 45 %. which seems kinda high for a quad core processor actually.
Anyways ive heard of the live 8 crashing nightmares....
No, audio? You can get audio in Reason. and you can build a looper for it. And mix it with other devices. Now there's Record, which makes it even easier - for ultiple I/O.
