The video will be lagging because the shutter needs to stay open for longer, so that the image sensor can be exposed to more of the IR light, won't it?
not so much because the camera is being pushed to it's limits.
I´ve got a problem. I have the hdr-sr10e. I want to use my camera in low light environment, so I tried different scene selection choices.. And the candlelight is by far the best... But.. the picture is lagging like hell. Can anyone tell me why is that? and the same problem is if I use supernightshot
I know this comment is really old but I cant just see your question and not help, Try looking through your camcorder menus and turning super night shot off and just use use the normal night shot plus.
The video looks jumpy on super nightshot because it lowers the shutter speed to its absolute minimum to maximize the amount of light that hits the image sensor. It looks like that because the shutter speed is slower than the frame rate.
There's an infrared light addon that you can stick atop the camera. It increases the range by about 10 extra feet and you don't need to turn super-night on. Amazon it.
dont waste your money on the sony IR lights, buy a security camera illuminator and run it on a 12V battery,if you look at the test video i made you will see the result.
Sorry Sony, too much money for a product that barely works at 20 yards,
actually what night shot does is slows down the frame rate so more light will hit each frame, that is why it is so blury or "lagy". Thanx for the vid by the way
well that is only in Super night shot, because it nightshot, (at lest on the newer cameras) there is a IR light, and the ISO is somewhat bumped up. I also believe the FPS is lower. Thanks for the comment and support!
To enhance nightshot u can get an infrared light.

thats what i meant, but technicaly the camera is pushed to its limits, because more lag would be horrible and we couldne watch the video

have you tried manually raising the shudder speed?
PCguy102 3 years ago
you can raise the shutter speed on a video camera, because it's a constant 30FPS and thers no option to do that on the camera

I believe thats normal. The shutter speed is being raised to allow the image sensor to see more light...

I saw it on Sony's website. I think the total affective range with the add-on light is something like 100FT. It does look interesting.

Its not meant to be mainly used at night. The camera does well what its supposed to do.

super nightshot just lowers the shutter speed. more light gets thru, but it becomes lagy
fiishywiishy 3 years ago
only when the subject is far, cause in the same lighting conditions, with the subject closer, there is no lag
