This game should have been called Escape from Innsmouth, considering it follows the scenario almost exactly. Allthough the whole (spoiler) Yithian possesion subplot is tacked on to it. Apparenly it was going to be a four person coop game more in the vein of the tabletop game, but that turned out to be too ambitious.

@irritablerodent Aye, but the The Shadow Over Innsmouth and The Shadow out of Time (both the stories which influenced the main plotlines of the game) and many of the other Lovecraftian references (such as the Rats in the Walls) can be found in story collections alongside the Call of Cthulhu. In my case, the Call of Cthlhu & Other Weird Stories is the name of the book I have which contains all these stories.

Works for me too, but there is an unsolvable bug in one of the missions which makes the boss invisible, or something. It becomes a real hassle to pass that level. You have to guess or get co-ordinates from other people.

Ok a couple facts to clear up the confusion. First its called Call of Cthulhu for two reasons. First Call of Cthulhu is a classic short story by H P Lovecraft that predates Batman (and yes Arkham Asylum takes its name from Lovecraft not the other way around in fact I think Batman started after Lovecraft died). The second reason relates to a a very old role playing game (a pen and paper role playing game like D&D) called Call of Cthulhu which predates Call of Duty by a good decade or so.

This game is fun at the start... But it soon becomes a case of trial and error. The saving system is very poor, and if you don't know where to go or what to do you will die alot in this game.

I remember quiting this game(cause I got stuck) when it just came out, now playing it for the second time.

If you don't wanna get frustrated, play this game with a walktrough or watch this LP videos if you get stuck.

When I saw Arkham Asylum first thing came to mind, "Derp, BATMAN RIP OFF" but I was beat to the punch. I never read any HP Lovecraft really into detail but my father did, He explained to me randomly one day the topic probably brought up on boozes and batman commercials.
