They started playing this on KROQ eventually though...I definitely remember hearing it on the way to school...the lady who was driving our carpool was shocked...
I remember when KROQ hung up on me for requesting this song on a all request weekend. I said "Ask Doc on the Rock, he'll tell you whats up!" And they still hung up on me!!
I would go to work at a bank every day and listen to this song real loud on KROQ. Great way to start the day. I wish more of my friends understood the humor of this song.
Surf Punk Music...it has it's place in music history. It ain't Zappa but fun nonetheless. And a sort of B-52-esque quality to it. I first heard it on a station out of SF called The Quake. Never thought I'd hear it again. Now, eons later, here it is. Who'd a thunk it.Dildo, pepporoni Ice Cream and Pocket Pool...much better and even MORE fun to listen to.
Ya know, I once actually worked as a sanitation orderly in a geriatrics ward of a hospital, so therefore I can really relate to the lyrical subject matter of this song. It's all TRUE, let me tell ya!! This ain't no mere novelty song,.. it is a factual expos'e!!
That organ realy coocks!! And it suits this song well because it realy makes it sound like some cheesy demented old soap opera! They never use organs in music today, so you know that a song is pretty old whenever you hear one anymore.
Too bad there was no real music video made for this song. If any song was ripe for a video it was THIS one! Imagine the potential!!...Why it could've been the first X rated comedy music video!! Damn shame!!
well the best line in this is "there are no vacations just evacuations!" this ranks up there with "kinko the kid loving clown" as the sickest tune ever to be played on radio
quick note to survivor: cc to all: this is an incredible song! listen to the lyrics, then parse the music...HORRORPOP! i saw them in a thimble sized club in anaheim in 82/83, they wanted to be the tubes of the 80s...alas not to be :(
LOL! Obnoxious song but so funny & brings back great memories. I recall climbing on a table at a high school dance and going crazy to this song (student body Pres. almost kicked me out, ha)
Wow- the twin lead breaks still do it for me. Back then, I just thought it was the coke!

KROQ played this quite a lot right around the time I was in high school. It sounds just as corny today as it did 30 years ago!
