If this performs as well as a 911 , who cares what people say. Like most people will take their 911 to track day anyways. The 911 owners are always wary of Boxster buyers getting the better end of the stick.
That's an excellent point. I remember when I bought a Boxster S after owning a stream of 911s and I certainly received comments based on the assumption that I couldn't afford a 911.
This new Spyder would certainly make a stronger case for your choice of the Boxster rather than a 911, as would a Cayman Club Sport which Porsche continue to deny its customers.
That's how they say it. Before, the Boxster had a reputation of being a dentist's car then as then as the facelift one came along, they started saying that "couldn't afford a 911" comment. For me, I'd buy a Boxster not because I can't afford a 911 but because I want a Roadster. I wouldn't spend money on a 911 anyway because I'd spend the same money on a Jaguar XKR.
They did a good job on this facelift. I think they should do that Porsche rumored to be a 914 successor. That would sell.

Wonder how much the optional cd player and air conditioning weighs when customers opt back in.

It's a Porsche Boxster on Steroids ;P
Gotta love how it looks simillar to the Carrera GT.
I'd say better looking than a base Boxster and probably less "I bought a Boxster because I couldn't afford a 911"
