I think that front opening in the seat is SUPPOSED to prevent a mans urine stream from landing on the seat although it doesn't work. You only see that on public toilets if ever.

It does seem a bit strange though right? As for the water, it is to help wash out the fecal matter each time the toilet is flushed. Very much toilet paper and dirty. I know it here from Germany where I live in. German girls leave the toilets in german Discos oder Clubs very very dirty... Worse than this video here, paper whereever you look and urin, dirt... At home they are tidy and clean I think, but the toilets in clubs are used and left very dirty. In German Discos Mens toilets don't look like Womens toilets... I am a german girl myself, that`s why I know it ;)

There would probably be less litter on the floor if all bathrooms either opened outward so you can push with your body or if they open inward to have an open trash can to take the paper towels everyone uses to open the door with when leaving. I never understood the person that washes their hands only to grab the handle when they leave.
