Wish I had a Charismatron to make me look wonderful and all my songs sound fantastic. Only in Canada, you say? Maybe someday the rest of the world will catch up.
Thanks for the posting kurdtss. Great album. Think of Cherry Street Express every time I go by it on the Lakeshore.
great tune.man it brings back memories.those were the good ol days.hahhaha me passing out in the back seat of the car after a night of partying waking up to this tune on the radio.... .time for munchies at 7-11....cheers...thanks for sharing......ken
It brings back such memories,...Im am the big guy mover in the blue shirt, I remember making that video so quickly, just 2 takes in less than 30 minutes... such a haunting song... one of the greatest pieces of music anywhere in this galaxie.... keep rocking neil..
My God. This is such a classic piece of music. I've played it over and over for the last 25 years and it still haunts me. I love this song. That is cool that you were in this video. Do you know what's happening with the members these days?
I only heard this song a handfull of times and was never able to find a recording of it. It has stuck with me for the last 25 or so years. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic! One of my favorite bands. Based on talent, fantastic lyrics, and just great songs these guys should have been known to everyone. As we all know fame and notoriety do not always go to those with the most talent. Still love listening to the Pukka songs.
The Pukka Orchestra was one of the last new acts to be signed to Solid Gold Records...at that time the lable tried to secure a last-minute cash-infusion from CBS, after being with A & M. The shot in the arm came too late, and the label drowned in a sea of red ink in 198.
This was VERY much a brilliant LP.
Famous quote by band member Tony Duggan Smith : "My Dad always asks me, 'Howe can you be so famous when your'e always so broke?'"
Actually if you look now you will see that someone did for you. Don't be so lazy next time. It isn't rocket science. You can practice by posting Rubber Girl for ME.
Love this..Thanks for posting..I had never ever heard of this band or song..Thanks to you tube..anyway..is that a band aid on his face?? been bugging me..Cheers
I hadn't heard these nor seen the videos in over 20 years . I had actually forgotten the name of the band and could never find again who did Radio, even had forgotten Mars... I folloed the Tom Robinson trai which led me to Pukka O., which I immediately recognized and remembered as I read it. Thank you so much for posting these. I still can't believe.
Can anyone tell me the CORRECT lyrics for this great song? i play guitar and also this song... there are parts where he sounds like hes got a mouth full of mousetraps. Search the internet... cant find the lyrics anywhere. Can anyone help me???????????
Awesome video. I was listening to the Edge102 podcast and heard this. This is before my time but what a great song... and I love those two big guys shaking to the tune in the background. :-)
Sorry for taking so long but I wasn't back on till today.
The guy is Norm Corbett one of the greatest human beings we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was driving force in getting that first record made (along with his partner Bill Dyer) and they were behind the Pukka's 110%. We even have a song written expressing our regard for Norm which one day I hope we get to record and the world gets to hear!!
Tony from the Pukka Orchestra here.... There was no Cherry Beach video but there was a very funny one for 'Goldmine in the Sky' and another nutty one for 'Whatcha doin' on the Weekend Baby' I'll try and get them uploaded soon
Hey Tony. It's great to hear from you here! do you guys still do gigs and stuff? any new material you might wanna release? man we are sick and tired of today's garbage presented as music eh! God please bring back the 80's music! (maybe my mind is on Mars?) cheers Tony
sorry, got the lyrics wrong, " i'm joining the lineup to fall down the stairs". still you gotta be scared if you end up in cherry beach. thanks, toronto cops- nice nicey canadians wish you'd all blow away.
I once found the lead singer's email address on the web and wrote him about this video. I let him know that I thought it was hilarious and he informed me that the 'moving guys' came up with the idea for the lip synch. Shocked when i searched for this vid and found it. Thanks a lot.

Neil Chapman is the most underrated
guitarist, period ! He's fantastic !
You;ll never see a video for Cheery Beach Express, 52 Division is not a big fan of the song or the group ! Gee can't understand why LOL
The band disbanded when lead singer
Graeme Williamson took ill
Tony Duggan-Smith married Sharon McQueen, who played in a band called
Detroit River Maddness
Hey Neil, your late aunt Peggys kid says hi
( Dan Carter )
Please reunite, this generations music SUUUUUUUUUCKS !!!!!!!!!!

Hey Tony
The lyrics to this song-
"Sunday Morning with the New York Times
The sun is shining in my penthouse suite
My other lady is laying out some lanes???
They reach from Cobert Beach to Easy Street...??"
Are those the actual lyrics?
