This argument between auto and manual has to stop. Yes manual is more fun to drive and sometimes made a difference, but in modern cars today they are purely the same action.
There's a weird lag on the speedometer, you revved and then half sec later it shot up to 40 (tire slipping?), then went down to 35 (gripping?), then accelerated again, although not as hard. Either way the in-dash speedo is not the most accurate way to figure 0-60 times.

@Turner9090 The 2011 tC is nowhere near 6.5 seconds, manual or automatic. I don't know of a car in existence that will drop 1.5 seconds off the 0-60 just from switching from auto to manual.

Hot damn, new transmissions are an entirely different story. Performance wise, they allow perfect shifts for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to coordinate them, and the only real disadvantage an automatic has over a manual (that i can think of) is that they're more complex of an instrument to repair.

Automatics aren't horrible, but if your serious about racing then a manual and some practice will result in better times on otherwise equivalent cars...

im getting a TC soon , you were probaly shifting the AUTO like a Manual to have it rev that high L-2-3-D , because i know putting it strait into D and flooring it while boosting would have sent a serious shock to every gear while the auto is shifting

@370ztuner nah man it takes me 7.6 secs to go from 0-60 in my stock tC and i run a high 9's low 10's on the 1/8.....if it takes him 7 secs to get to 0-60 his time would be a high 8 or low 9. But who would turbo an automatic you lose too much power

@Vuehmong not save though. there are some people that have gotten away with an auto holding up 8psi but only if you are not boosting all the time. You would also need a really good tranny cooler like an 18 row + but the safest to be with an auto is 5-7 psi and 7 psi making 265-285 whp depending on the turbo/tune.
@Vuehmong that depends on what you want/ if you have the money to spent. If you want your tc to be faster the go for it and turbo it, nothing wrong with that. There are alot of turbo auto tc's down here in MIA making 240-260 whp on stock internals. the tc could easily brake into the mid to high 13's with the turbo

@TheCubanito2010 Greddy and HKS make good turbo kits for the Scion Tc. they add just over 100 horses but make sure ur engine can handle the pressure of the turbo before u install it or else ur engine will explode
He burnt out in first shifted to second then it droped to first again before it finally went to second at 40... Turbos are Always better on automatics, u can actually build boost from a stop. And autos are better for the track as well. This ain't a circuit car it's a fast dependable consistant automatic daily driver scion. I give this dude props

@GStang04T It depends on the transmission. A typical auto tranny is slower than a manual. They can't shift as fast and you can't control where it shifts. You also experience more drivetrain power loss. But more and more high performance auto trannies are making their ways into more cars with less power loss and faster shifts.
So no, not all auto trannies are better than manual.
I don't think its a bad thing to drive an automatic or mod them. But I have not once had more fun in an automatic than in a manual when it comes to sports cars. And if you have ever driven a manual you will know why.

1st gear in an auto tc goes up to 40mph.. so hes actually in first until he gains traction. 2nd gear goes u to 70ish so its just a 1st and 2nd gear pull.
@Vuehmong anyways a auto turbo should be much faster than 6.5-7 sec. if you noticed he got to 3rd gear in only going up to 60mph. Either hes tunned failed or he doesnt have a tranny cooler or both =/ my friends auto tc with just 6 psi does much better results than 6.5 sec

@somxone lol another funny fact, auto's are as a matter of a fact faster because there is no "human error" compare an auto quarter mile to the stick quarter mile, it's not much faster but none the less.. it is faster.

@GStang04T It depends on the transmission. A typical auto tranny is slower than a manual. They can't shift as fast and you can't control where it shifts. You also experience more drivetrain power loss. But more and more high performance auto trannies are making their ways into more cars with less power loss and faster shifts.
So no, not all auto trannies are better than manual.

I don't think its a bad thing to drive an automatic or mod them. But I have not once had more fun in an automatic than in a manual when it comes to sports cars. And if you have ever driven a manual you will know why.

1st gear in an auto tc goes up to 40mph.. so hes actually in first until he gains traction. 2nd gear goes u to 70ish so its just a 1st and 2nd gear pull.

@Vuehmong anyways a auto turbo should be much faster than 6.5-7 sec. if you noticed he got to 3rd gear in only going up to 60mph. Either hes tunned failed or he doesnt have a tranny cooler or both =/ my friends auto tc with just 6 psi does much better results than 6.5 sec
