These guys were the house band at Stax Records in Memphis in the 1960s, where Southern soul was born. These guys (Booker, Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and the late Al Richmond) created the Stax sound, just as the Funk Brothers invented the Motown sound. They played with Otis Redding, Wilson Picket, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, etc. etc. One of the greatest funk/soul bands of all time!
