  • Thanks for posting this.

It was recorded at the Strand in Redondo Beach California not in New York.

  • I liked this song when it first came out and I still do.

  • Is this released on DVD?

  • Thanks for posting this great old classic. The sheet music for Booker T.'s original organ part for "Green Onions" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription of the main riff.

  • What organ does he play?

  • groovin

  • The Saturday Night Live band? Huh? No!

These guys were the house band at Stax Records in Memphis in the 1960s, where Southern soul was born. These guys (Booker, Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and the late Al Richmond) created the Stax sound, just as the Funk Brothers invented the Motown sound. They played with Otis Redding, Wilson Picket, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, etc. etc. One of the greatest funk/soul bands of all time!
