Love this mould, and this repaint in particular. It works so much better as a Decepticon; there's something so militaristic and aggressive about the mould :) 5*
I passed up this mold a couple times and have no clue why, guess i just wasn't impressed with it.. It's a really nice figure as your review has shown me.. I'll go hunting for one now.
I just bought this guy from toys r us last night. He has the same ball joint popping out that your describing - guessing its a repeating issue. Got him cos he makes an appearance in AHM 11 - 12 making into my G1 repro criteria lol.
Congrats on having Philly move in mate, she's a nice lass. ;)
I'm happy with my Overcast, I'm afraid, so having another version of the mold will probably be a no-no considering Sophie's now having kittens every time I buy a new TF! XD
Im guessing by the way you dropped Safeguard your really not impressed with it. Im getting a Universe Springer sent to me but I do like the look of the toy so a Blades may be worth picking up pretty soon
Actually, you missed that Dropshot's Arm that carries the giant Phallic Laser Cannon can be pushed forward, allowing for smoother articulation in the arm.
Yep, he's a terrific toy. I think what's so appealing about him is that he captures the chunkiness and simplicity of the G1 period, while retaining the detail and articulation of the modern toyline.
All the Cybertron Defense figures share this aesthetic, which is probably why they work so well in the Universe line.
(By the way, I'm 99% sure Dropshot was the first repaint though, and Overload was released the following year.)
theres that word again, continueinity!

You should do the overload review as flak's character. The deci clearly was a homage to that micromaster.

Actually, the Overload came after Dropshot and Overload, if you have read his bio, he is the Armada Overload not his G1 counterpart.

Actually, the mold can rotate its missles a full 360*.
And the Dropshot I have has that loose ball joint too.

Great Review. I was in Toys R Us here in Ontario, Canada last weekend, and I bought the G1 Perceptor & Insecticons exclusives and I love them.
