  • I love this video. I keep coming back for the inspiration. I don't know anyone who tats so I'm making it up as I go, with some tips from random online comments! The first doily I ever made I kept turning into a bowl so I gave up. Now I'm working on a piece made of motifs, hoping it will lay flat, but wish I could just work on continuous rounds. Thanks for posting!!!

  • @jkmaus Hi, thank you for your comment. I'm glad you like the video. How's your piece coming along? Like you, I prefer to work in continuous rounds instead where possible... but the doily in this video was made both of rounds made with separate motifs and continuous rounds. So a bit of everything in this one. If your tatting turns into a bowl, you may find that you are just tatting a bit tighter and may need to add a few stitches for your lace to lie flat. Keep tatting! :-)

holy shiznit. I thought I knew how to make lace well apparently Its not lace ive been making LOL and I also thought I knew everything about sewing, I'm SO blown away!!! CANNOT wait to learn :D you are SO incredibly fast my goodness!

  • Not sure what the "Slip & Slide" method is. I think I do it the way you do. Thought maybe I was turning my wrist in a weird way and that caused the twisting, but not sure. Untwisting sure does interrupt your flow.

  • How do you keep your thread from twisting? I always have to let my shuttle dangle every 4-5 ds or so to untwist the thread. Very frustrating.

Hi, perhaps it depends on the kind of thread you use? I do occasionally drop my shuttle when there is too much twist on it but I normally find that just changing between chains and rings gives the shuttle the opportunity to untwist itself as I work (as you drop your shuttle when moving from one element to another). Do you use the Slip & Slide Method as here? Maybe some methods cause more twisting. And I definitely think some threads are more prone to it than others.

  • HOLY SHIT ITS MAGIC!

  • Thank you for the nice comments.

Tutorial? There are some good ones available, but I can see what I can do if you'd like one...

Passionfable, don't give up, keep watching videos and having a try and you'll see it will all click into place all of a sudden.
