  • i love Dan's version of this great Cascades song!!!!

  • Love this song with Dan~ He could sing anything ~ he left us way too soon~ he was one of the best! Loved him!!

  • You speak for me also MsMariajaramillo! I could not have expressed my strong distaste for OBAG09L'S extremely rude and derogatory comments. There is certainly no call for such utter rubbish ! I am fuming !!! This is the best video in my opinion that I have watched so far... Totally flawless, quite brilliant!!! There would not be a dry eye in the house.I would imagine even the male of our species would fill up..... sang beautifully, tender, sweetly, with great feeling. Overwhelmed with emotions.

  • the best song ever..........

  • Imho this version of the song best captures the mood ... and i always love some good sax! Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • Is that the bassist from ToTo?

  • @jimincairns That is Mike Porcaro of Toto, and on drums, his late, great brother Jeff.

  • @drumsport Thanks, mate!

  • hhay quA HAY@@ CO GANG NHE

  • This is the one song that has two versions that are equal in greatness in every way! Rest in Peace Dan! Thank you and The Cascades!

  • The anniversary of his death, its a sad time! But I am happy to have shared this time on earth! We all are here for a blink of the eye in the grand scheme of things.. For his brief time, he had a good ride ,thanks,Dan a smile happens everytime I hear your voice over the radio!

  • The best of the best!

  • his death anniversary's next week, 16th dec...miss him still, and still pretty hard to accept he's gone 4ever..

  • what an incredibly beautiful song, its one of those melodies that just puts chills in my soul, thank you forever and ever Dan, will miss you...

  • May he rest in peace in the arms of our God.

  • I like Dans Performance of this song more than The Cascades Version... *S*

Dan graced us here with his beautiful talent ... Now he's the Conductor in Heaven and all the other Great Performers he has joined are his Performers ... *wink*

  • Rip: Dan

  • Brilliant.

  • Oh how I miss him. What a tragic loss. He should be recognized in the Music Hall Of Fame......

  • thanks for the posting. what a great talent. rip dan

  • Is the groove master Jeff Porcaro playing with Dan Fogelberg??

  • yes he is :)...and mike too..

  • he does not sound like Michael Bolton...

Dan will always be far more superior

  • @quarrendongrove agree

  • ohhh , SONY quality so high , i love this type of HD :)

  • Steve Katz in the video respnses is terrific. there is a whole world behind this picture

  • i used to think the lyrics went "listen to the rhythm of the phone ring."

  • God bless him!!!

  • I will have to agree, he does sound a lot like Michael Bolton...I like it!!

  • @lauracruse99 NO WAY! Dan Fogelberg's sound was unique!

  • Remember!!!....BRASIL

  • Wow! This is THE BEST version of this song I have ever heard! What a guy! And what a loss to us all!

  • Mierda de Vevo, me cago en sus muertos

  • For more than 15 years, after a couple of glasses of wine, this is "our song" and even I am "dancing".

    RIP.

  • Not quite as good as the Cascades' version... but it's hard to recreate the magic of the music of the '60s

  • Oh Lord~What happened to him?

  • Wow, came across this by accident~and am I ever glad I did!! He is just a little babydoll with a great voice, and beautiful lips!! ooooh!

  • Amaizing song ! and such a good backing with it (*_*)

  • WOW!

  • Truly a great artist who will be missed

  • I love this ver....

  • he was a sexy guy

  • The Cascades. Growing up as a 5 yr old w/ a bunch of teenage brothers - I am pretty much familiar w/ the 60's, 70's music. Pretty cool era. I love the original, but this Fogelberg version is quite awesome. I love the saxophone bit.

  • R.I.P. Dan 1951-2007. You are missed!

  • I can't stop listening to this song, it's so much better than the original song.

  • I can't stop listening to this song, it's so much betteer than the original song.

  • jeff 'n mike <3 <3 <3

  • Seriously this is much better than Cascades, it's much more profesional voice, but somehow, in my heart, this is not bring enough feeling for me to remember anything 'bout my love :(

Still love the Cascades's record more than this, but I dun hate it, just love more and a little less.

  • Little does she know..... Dan might not have written this one, but oh how I can sing it with him..... and even smile. Rain please tell her.... ask the sun to set her heart aglow.... to grow anew. Be well.

  • He is at the height of his musical powers in this video.

Thanks, Dan, for so many hours of wonderful entertainment. You are one of the wandering minstrels that informed my life.

  • Very nice, muito linda! Eu a canto em português

  • I remember when the Cascades done this song back in 1963, I loved then but now that Dan Fogleberg, its a whole lot better.

  • @4BarCat1 No, he's not. He sings the song awesome, but nothing compared to the cascades, sweetheart. He kinds of sound like Michael Bolton.

  • @MsMariajaramillo Clean out your ears.

  • @lordslittlegirl why? do u think my ear wax is preventing me from hearing right?

  • @MsMariajaramillo No, I think your brains or lack there of are preventing you from an actual coherent thought pattern.

  • @MsMariajaramillo It is painfully obvious that you are totally clueless as to what real talent is. So yes..I think you have a terrible obstruction somewhere between the real world and your raisin brain.

  • @lordslittlegirl If you where a real lord's little girl, you shoulnd't be insulting other people. And yeah, i agree with jaramillo, he sounds good, but his voice is like Michael Bolton's

  • @4BarCat1 Are you yanking my chain? the cascades DID it in 1963 Dan fockleberg DONE it never!!!!!! If only they would bring back capital punishment for his brutal murder of this song.

  • @OBAG09L Damn..who the the dog out? Go back to your cage.

  • tyhis song makes me feel like i'm back when i was young

  • this song says what i am feeling now.

  • One of my all time favorites~~ Just love it~

  • @pnolanrn

"Rhythm of the Rain" was written by John C. Gummoe. He was a member of the Cascades who had the original hit back in 1963. It charted at #3.

  • @Nashvillekat

    What was that hit?

  • awesome song

  • Such a heartfelt rendition of the original song--as usual, an awesome Dan Fogelberg arrangement!!!

  • Yes awesome.....practically a duet of Toto and Fogelberg

  • Does VEVO just screw up the download speed of every video? What a crappy idea, must be a crappy place to work full of crappy people full of crappy ideas (like screwing up great music).

  • @timcro24 shouldn`t you buy the song instead of downloading it from youtube?

  • @nachozman7 I guess I don't know what you are referring to? I have no idea where my original comments are, but I have 3 CD's from Dan - his music is really magical to me. I guess I don't know what your comment is all about, as far as I know, music from YT is not downloadable, but I do create playlists to play in the background on my computer while at work - rather than playing IPOD lists all of the time. Give it a try!

  • @timcro24 derpy will download from youtube hehe

  • @timcro24 not to mention the katy perry ad in the background.... heavens where IS this world headed... :{

  • Yeah; That's the Heart-Attack horns. Jeff Porcaro on drums; Mike Porcaro on Bass....and the Waters on background vox. Awesome stuff!!

  • my three personal favorite six-string strummin' singer-songwriters: the hall of famers james taylor and jackson browne, and then the criminally underrated dan fogelberg. may his soul rest in peace.

p.s. try saying "six string strumming singer songwriters" 5 times fast...

  • Great video. God Bless you for putting this together....Oh, the saxophone!...that is so killer....it's so poignant....thanks for keeping music alive!

  • I am sorry, but I like the Cascades better. Maybe because I grew up with that one.

  • Yes, it's Mike Porcaro and Jeff is the drummer. I'm almost certain the horn section is the Jack Mack and the Heart Attack horns. I don't recognize the tenor soloist.

  • @Saxologist i think its someone in the heart attack horns... i recognize them from glenn frey's "true love" video

  • @Saxologist I Wikipedia'd the album credits, then Google image searched to confirm - the tenor soloist is Al Garth.

  • @samboy1288 Thanks for that Samboy. I found the studio album on Discogs from your clue - "The Wild Places" - and Russ Kunkel and Bob Glaub are credited on drums and bass (respectively) but they obviously didn't do the video. Further, Mr. Fogelberg is credited with Piano, Synthesizer, Guitar, Keyboards, Drum Programming, Percussion, Producer, Engineer, Mixed By and 4 tunes were Written-By Dan Fogelberg - truly a great talent.

  • Voice like an angel..we will always remember you, Dan...

  • Oh God , Dan Fogelberg's voice is sooo suitable for this song.

    Love the Saxophone Also...

  • Thank you for the memories~ Sir ;)

  • Good song ^^

  • Beautiful song :)

  • My condolence to Mr. Forgelberg

  • Does anyone know who the bassist is? I can't help but think it's Mike Porcaro.

  • What an artist....

  • college days

  • Best version of this song!!! I was lucky to see him once...a gifted man. He could have sung for a thousand or just for two. That's love of your craft. Will miss him!

    Thank goodness for u tube.

  • This is a wonderful rendition of the Cascades classic song. Others have redone this, but none so sensitively, nor as true to the feelings evoked by the original. I've always enjoyed his music, but I never knew he'd performed this song, until now. Sorry to hear that he's gone. His music will live on.

  • This is a wonderful re-rendition of the Cascades classic song. Others have redone this, but none so sensitively as Fogelberg's rendition of it., nor as true to the feelings evoked by the original. I've always liked his music from a distance, but never knew he did this song. It truly saddens know he's gone.

  • beautiful!!

  • I miss you!!

  • Awsome.....

  • i felt that,i fall inlove with his voice...i like it..

  • Who ever is doing these videos is blowing me away .

  • If you think this is the best version, I would suggest you listen to the Cascades. This is good, the Cascades are the definitive interpreters of this song.

  • This is a truly fine version of the song, and the drizzle of the Beatles' "Rain" at the end is an especially nice touch. This guy shows more talent here than I ever gave him credit for having back in the day. I always gave his stuff a chilly reception, but hearing this, that snow turned into rain. RIP

  • I agree, this is the best version of this song EVER

  • I've never seen this video until today. What a treat to see the Porcaro brothers along with Dan. I know its a video and they sync it to the original, but with all the talent in that room, a live recording would have been awesome. RIP Dan and Jeff.

  • God hes good. Whats else to say......

  • the ads kill it for me.

  • He looks like Bill Medley... no?

  • @starrbrosinc Yep both very handsome men,

  • i'll be damned if this isn't one of the finer things in life and music...

  • Wow, that ending with the whole Beatles song 'Rain'. They might as well be dead. If the rain comes. If the rain comes... Is it me or is it the older we get the harder we try to hold on to the things that made us young. Not this song (but this is the best version I have heard) ... but definitely Dan. Early 80's, Leader of the Band etc.

  • I agree with you whatifboy,

  • I love Dan Folgalbergs songs

  • this song brings back memories

  • I love this song

  • new style.

  • ~~~ Great of greats I must day. From beginning to end I was dumbstruck by the beauty of the melody. The lyrics are of course perfection to project a good story. Thanks Dan. Always a FAN~~~

  • The drummer looks a lot like Dan...hmmm?

  • @TheVOho That's Jeff Porcaro, most famous as the drummer for Toto, but he did sessions with just about everybody. He passed away very prematurely as well in 1994. His brother Mike is on Bass.

  • I Love slow version of this song!

  • I miss this amazing man so much. Everytime I see a picture of him I well up. I am now, after 3 yrs., finally able to listen to his CD's again. I saw him in concert in Philly in '77 & he came out to his shiny black grand piano & sang "To The Morning",. One of my very favorites...& smiled & joked around. Such an amazing person, gone too soon. His eyes were a bright sea green!! I've always thought him to be one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen. What a smile!!

  • @vickiehill1 I am so sorry for your missing Dan Fogelberg, he was a truly inspirational and uplifting sing/songwriter. I can only surmise that you lived in or near Philly. One of my favortie albums "Windows and Walls" always makes me weepy when I listen to it. I felt it necessary to respond to your post as I used to lieve on the East Coast.

  • @vickiehill1 , Everything you said, I agree. They don't come better looking than him, and there's no end to his talent.

  • @vickiehill1 I totally agree, well expressed! I miss him too. His music and style was so comforting, unique, emotional, and beautiful. His music will live on forever <3

  • wonderful song!

  • Oh my gosh! I've been listening to this song for more than 3 years, and not until now did I find this version on Youtube (quite ignorant :X )!!! Wonderful! Pure beauty! Love this version more than any others.

R.I.P. Dan. "Little do you know that when you left that day, along with you you took my heart."

  • I listen to this song before i sleep.I really love it.

  • the Porcaro brothers rythym section with Fogelberg's voice - unbeatable.

  • I met this man at a little hole in the wall bar in Nashville, back in the 70's. I wish I could remember the name of the bar. It was on Music Row, to my recollection, and one that many well known music artists would frequent, with signatures all over the walls. Dan had his guitar, along with many other guitar pickers, who were just patrons of the bar. Being a vocalist, I jammed with them. It was something I'll never forget. Dan was very soft spoken...true gentleman. I miss you, Dan!

  • I love this song. Dan Fogelberg was one of the greatest musicians in the last several years.

  • The face of justin bieber on the left is creeping me out..

  • This is from when music was real music that took talent to sing and compose. Dan was one of the greats. R.I.P.

  • best song of all time
